bump
Great Guy to deal with and as the previous owner of this rig I can vouch for it. The cab IS a genuine Ashdown ABM 15 with a Celestion Neo fitted. I originally got this from the company that make Ashdown Cabs, (and Trace, Orange, HiWatt, Cornford etc.etc.), as it was left over from an order when Ashdown changed the design of the handles. It was put together by the same team and has a compression horn added. Check the price of the speaker on it's own and you will see what a deal this is. Serious trouser flapping bass from this set-up.

As I only play 5 Strings these days this is the last 4 Stringer I want to part with, (the Jazz is a keeper). Absolutely immaculate Aria Pro Bass 101. Walnut finish, Maple Neck with Rosewood Fingerboard. Active with 3 band equaliser. Single Infinity soapbar pick-up. Cast bridge with thru body or top load stringing options. Never gigged. It is an absolute joy to play with one of the nicest necks I have come across.
but I get sceptical about set necks and through necks that have been repaired. Still contemplating.
I know what you mean. I sent Steve Robinson pics of the crack before I bought it. If he hadn't been happy that it was a clean failure of the original glue and thus a straightforward repair I would not have bought it originally. He has his reputation to consider and I didn't want to buy trouble. Just one of those things. An itch I wanted to scratch and I switched to Bass before I could scratch it -
Schadenfreude
Now that was a Google job for a definition "A malicious satisfaction obtained from the misfortunes of others" Suppose you are right. Previous owners daughter knock guitar off stand and cracks Scarf joint. I get it at a very reasonable price have it repaired and someone then gets it cheap due to MY misfortune of wanting to sell it at no profit. But not to the dealer who has one advertised at £345 at the moment........ Already told him where to go.... -

Martin is a man of impecable taste and an eye for value. Bought the "Fecker" P-Bass I had just finished building. A very painless transaction and at one point I thought I may end up with the Cash AND the Bass, as he is a pretty laid back character Only joking Martin and great to meet up with you.

Not sure if any of you have had a problem getting hold of Mike Walsh, (Zoot Basses and Cabs), since he sold The Bass Merchant. As the Bass Merchant has moved there is a re-direct on their line and they have moved premises. Because of this I understand there is a problem getting hold of Mike to check on progress of Basses and Cabs. I spoke to Mike earlier today to check on the progress of a "Cab to Beat All Cabs" and here is his new number. Mike is still at the old address and his new number is 01376 502930.
Its Uk based or USa based That shop? Because from The auction it looks He ships from Usa,so Customs Duties involved.
Based in Miami but the Customs Declaration was marked as Gift so no duty. I think you are allowed a certain value without being charged duty and at £20 including postage, (which is $10.50), the value of the goods is below that threshold. i didn't get stung for Duty.
Can you show the repair a little more clearly?
This is about as good as i can get. As you can see your face in the neck it is very difficult to get a good picture. The joint is slightly visible in some places but it was a clean crack, (ie a failure of the original glue). As it is an Acrylic finish, Steve did not want to risk touching the area up as it could have ruined the rest of the finish. Obviously it does not affect the playability at all.
I have to say I'm quite interested - I've been thinking about getting something hollow-body, 6-string (non bass). Can you show the repair a little more clearly?
Hi Noel, I will try and get a better pic of it. None that i have taken show it up very well, but then again it is a good repair. -
I bought this about 3 years ago just before switching to bass. It came with a cracked scarf joint but Steve Robinson, (Manchester Guitartech), repaired it and did a beautiful set-up for me. He also pointed out it was a common occurrence but "will not happen again" after he fixed it. I have never really played it as I switched to Bass not long after the purchase. I have tried various forums and cannot get much info on it. It is undoubtedly post-Matsumoku and judging by the serial number was made in 1990. Twin Humbuckers, 2 Vol and 2 Tone controls and pick-up selector switch. All gold plated hardware and superb binding. It is in outstanding condition with one barely visible Buckle Rash mark on the rear. One of the bands I play in has a pro guitarist and I got him to "road test" it for me recently. He did this during the set break but was that impressed he kept it on for most of the second set and he normally plays a Les Paul. He couldn't believe it was a 20 year old guitar. It is an appreciating asset and I am selling it for what it cost me. It comes with a brand new fitted case. £195 There is another thread on the site about this guitar when I was trying to find some info about it, but I can't trace it unfortunately. WITHDRAWNChrome Red, Active Special Precision Bass
BassBunny replied to thebeat's topic in Basses For Sale
Pics were taken when i was trying out the Bad Ass on the Highway 1. Just realised that i do have some circumstantial evidence that this is a MIA body....American P Bass pickguards fit right on...mexican ones have the screw holes in different places and don't.
That is not quite true. I fitted a new US pickguard onto a Chrome Red MIM P-Bass and it fitted perfectly. I think you will find the MIM basses, (Precision and Jazz) built in the last 5 or so years are pretty much identical in the hardware department fixings. -
Not that great on Status Values so this may be way over priced. But for £700 it looks fabulous. What a statement. Inexperienced Manchester Bassist seeks jam-mates
BassBunny replied to solo4652's topic in Musicians Wanted
Hi, I started to play bass 6 months ago. I've practised a lot by downloading stuff from Youtube and jamming along in the bedroom. I think I'm ready to play with other people now. I'm playing Blondie, Corrs, Coldplay, Semisonic, a bit of Ska, blues... I don't fancy an open-mike jam session in front of an audience yet. I'm looking for drummer, guitarist, singer who also feel ready to play with people, and see what happens. My aim is to be playing in a pub rock/covers band in a few months time. I live in Stockport. All ideas gratefully received Steve
Glad to see you have decided to do some jamming Steve. It was good to see you the other night and i will get the stuff i promised in the post as soon as i can find the damn CD. The drum licks on it are great. Thanks for the "report" on the P-Bass. it is now sold.
