I have just built up a homage to a 62 P Bass and managed to experiment with a few bridges. The one that worked best IMHO was a Wilkinson Vintage Bridge. Same 5 screw fixing and is heavier, (more sustain), than the stock Fender one. Has Brass Saddles so looks the business as well. Got it from Axes R Us, ( I think), and was only £14 delivered.

Went to see Keith last night with Pete, (Thunderthumbs), to collect my auction winnings and see his band. I have dealt with Keith before and he is a cracking guy but the band is great. It was so refreshing to hear numbers that are NOT on everyone else's set list and performed well. The band is nice and tight and the vocalist sounds spookily like Stevie Nicks. Great to see you again Keith and the efforts you put in to sorting out the Yorks do and raising money for charity deserves to be recognised as going beyond the norm. Let's see if any other BassChat bashes can beat the sum of money raised. Oh and by the way the Bass was just the right volume

If you are prepeared to go out for £150, you will never be anything other than a £150 band and could actually be doing yourselves more harm than good. I found this on another forum that really sums the situation up. Its all about mutual respect and understanding. The venue needs to make a bob or two as do the bands. It is a symbiosis thing ( whoa heavy stuff) Each and every band will claim (and rightfully so) that they are the best and will hopefully promote themselves and the gigs to the full. The venue, in order to get the maximum numbers thro the door should be working to promote the Venue. Sometimes thats a bit more than sticking a couple of posters up in the pub. Getting some posters in local shops and a mention in the local paper (gig guide sections etc) can get out to a wider audience. Working together is the way to go. After all is said done and the beer taps are dry, We need each other to make live music work. I reckon that sums it up. I am doing some serious thinking about one of the bands I play in as they really don't seem to be able to switch on to the "promotion" part of the band and are seriously undervaluing the band as a whole.

I know we have a number of members who also play guitar and I am looking for some help with an Aria TA65. As a converted guitarist myself I bought this about 3 years ago with a cracked scarf joint. Steve Robinson repaired it and did a beauitiful set-up for me. He also pointed out it was a common occurance but "will not happen again" after he fixed it. I have never really played it as i switched to Bass not long after the purchase and have now decided to dispose of all but 2 of my guitars, (The Telecaster and Gibson Nighthawk are keepers), and this is the last to go. I have tried various forums and cannot get much info on it. I reckon it is post Matsumoku and judging by the serial number was made in 1990. Twin Humbuckers, 2 Vol and 2 Tone controls and pick-up selector switch. All gold plated hardware and superb binding. It is in outstanding condition with one visible Buckle Rash mark on the rear. Can anyone help with any info and what it may be worth. I don't want to try and rip anyone off, but if I don't cover what i have laid out, I will probably keep it. One of the bands I play in has a pro guitarist and I got him to "road test" it for me last Friday. He did this during the set break but was that impressed he kept it on for most of the secod set and he normally plays a Les Paul. He couldn't believe it was a 20 year old guitar. It is the same stuff TechAmp use for their enclosures and as well as being very light and stiff, is bloody expensive. Apparently each consignment is costing Mike £1K. Cheers, Stuart

Talking to Mike, apparently I have a different horn in mine compared to the production run, but there shouldn't be much difference. Mike invited me down to LIMS and I was fortunate enough to be able to check out the neo version. Unbelievably light. The 2x15 is awesome.
