1.
SOLD .. and on its way west to a fellow BC'er !!
That'll be me then
 2. Well that's solved my storage problems. Nice one Dude....
 3. Quick Bump as the "Marvin" is due tomorrow.
 4.
Great. There's one bargain I've been watching for week gone then.
+1. just deleted it from my watch list..........
 5. What a hell of a nice guy. As Pete's official string supplier we have met up a couple of times. We would probably still be chewing the fat now if prior commitments hadn't got in the way. Hope to see you again soon Mr Thumbs. Cheers, Stuart
 6. Bought the G&L a few weeks ago to "scratch an itch". Absolutely love the sound of it but I don't like the neck profile. Have noodled about at home with it for a couple of hours but as soon as I go back to my Jazz or MTD, realise it is not for me. It's an Amber one wioth rosewood fingerboard, still has the tags on. Have another itch to scratch so Looking for £365 or very near offer + postage. The G&L has found a new home with Keith, (Yorks5stringer.)
 7.
I had the same problem with their flatwounds, The A-D-G were not too bad but the E was awful like playin a piece of wool. I complained and a few e-mails later they agreed to send me some new sets if I sent the E strings back (after all these were what I was complaining about). They sent me some new ones but these were just as bad. They also told me that no one else had had a problem with their flatwounds, seems like they were wrong. I won't be wasting my money on them again I have gone back to Rotosound flats on my Yamaha and am getting some Rotosound Tru Bass for my cort.
+1 for the deadness. The E string is awful. Gave them a call and they sent a new E String + a complete new set. Both of those E's were crap as well. Chucked them away and put it down to experience. Will stick with TI's, La Bella or Rotosound flats in the future.
 8.
What I was really after was opinions on the sound. Those of you who use light weight gear is it a compromise of weight for sound. As I said before I like a old sound, big & wide, can I get this with light stuff or is that asking just to much. BIGd
BIGd, I am like you regarding sound. I use a LMK2 and leave the eq settings at 12 O' Clock. Any "tweaking" can be done with the 2 filters. MB Amps are very clean and let the sound of the Bass come through. I am currently using it with a 1x15 neo and had a chance of listening to someone else using the rig, (and Bass), from the audience at a recent gig. Sounded great. Am about to move to an even more lightweight Cab solution.
 9.
The complete and genuine MM bits but without the coil switching switch. I bought these on ebay thinking the pre-amp would fit my SR5 but it didn't. £70 posted, which is less than I paid.
Is it a 5 String or 4 String pick-up? Cheers, Stuart
 10. Hi Nathan, I can recommend the MarkBass. Simple and very powerful. I don't even use any eq with mine just use the 2 filters. I am hoping my 2 lightweight cabs from Mike Walsh, (The Bass Merchant), will be with me this week. If so I will put a review up and it may be something else to consider. I believe it will stack up very well against the 2 cabs mentioned.
 11. A Result. Mike phoned this morning. Not overly impressed with his "assistants" who have been looking after business whilst he was unwell. 21 phone messages to deal with and he has changed ISP so new e-mail address is [email protected] So hopefully cabs will be on their way next week. Will post a review as soon as I have them in my hot sweaty mitts. Thanks for all your help guys.
 12.
Thanks - that's definitely worth considering...What's the spec on yours?
Hi Nik, It's an Amber one with Rosewood Fretboard. Same as this but Amber. http://guitare.playback-europe.com/pop_pro...11090&img=1 Cheers, Stuart
 13.
So, if anyone has something like a G&L L2500 Tribute series
Nik, If you sell the Lakland and are after a G&L L2500 Tribute, I have a brand new one I would sell. Still got the tags on. Awesome sound, but i am not that keen on the neck. Only had a couple of hours use at home.
 14.
GBH
Cheers McD. I thought you were volunteering to "go round with the boys" at first. Will try GBH. Thanks all for your views however: a) If there is someone looking after the shop, I would expect a call in reponse to the messages I left. Even to say they haven't a clue about the cabs and Mike is away. I started e-mailing just before Xmas, (not up to a call as I was laid up with this sh*t of a cold that is flying round), so Mike wouldn't have been at NAMM then. Cheers, Stuart
 15.
That's why I always express any interest in the thread and then follow up by PM, it avoids any confusion Chris
Good point Chris, I flirted the PM off pretty rapid and forgot to register interest via the thread.
 16. Hi All, Have been trying to get hold of Mike at The Bass Merchant for a while to check on progress of the Cabs he is building for me. They were supposed to be ready before Xmas. Have sent 3 e-mails that have not had a reply and tried to phone a couple of times and keep getting the answering machine. Anyone able to shed any light on the situation down there? Cheers, Stuart
 17. Quick Bumpola. Forgot I still had this..............
 18.
Wilco, Beedie.
Thought I was second in the Queue Mike
 19.
He got it wrong with me also. Reckon he's past it Chris
How wrong Chris? Asked for a specific P Bass and got??????????
 20. As I tend only to play 5 String Basses these days and strung with Flatwounds, when I sent my Xmas list to the North Pole in December I asked for a set of Rotosound Jazz Flats, the 5 String set. What the Red Coated, bearded herbert send was: 1 x 5 String Set of Elites Stadium Roundwound. Standard Guage, (actually a 6 string set with the top string removed from pack as they are out of stock of the 5 string set, aparently). http://www.basscentre.com/product.asp?pID=189&cID=11 1 x 4 String Set of Elites Stadium Roundwound, Standard Guage. Now Sold pending the usual Looking for £15 for the 5 String set including postage. The Elites have left the building.
 21. If you can get to Leyland, I would recommend Nick Carey. He can pick up from the station. Cheers, Stuart
