That's a really neat job. I like the way you've got the grille mounted at the front of the cab - how did you attach it to the sloping horn?
+1 for the Front Mounted Grill. IMHO it makes it look a lot more professional. Also where did you get the handles from? Ah well better get going on mine
We have now switched over to the new Basschat skin. It has been tested on IE 6/7, Firefox, Safari and Camino. Please reply here or PM phatmonkey if you have any feedback/problems or find any bugs, especially if you are using a browser we haven't tested. Thanks!
Great new skin. Gives the site a "class" feel. I am encountering a weird "feature" though. I have 2 PC's. The 1 running IE7 is fine in that when I select a topic, all posts are visible and more to the poiint readable underneath. With the PC running IE6, all the post appear as a file structure and I have to "click" on each individual post to read it. Any ideas, Stuart

BassBunny replied to peted's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
This cab was made by a friend of mine here in Norwich under his own brand of ELK. The speakers are Celestion as he is a distributor. I believe the power handling is 300 Watts 8 Ohms. I used to run this with another 15" cab as a mini stack but sold the 15" years ago. The cab is carpet covered with recessed handles. Sounds great on its own or paired with a 15". I bought this off of a friend of mine and played a couple of gigs with it but it has been stored under the stairs in my hallway since I moved house 2 years ago. Really need to shift it as the Mrs is looking for more space to store her growing shoe collection. £100
Could you let me know the dimensions and is it particularly heavy? Cheers, Stuart -
why guitarists are "superior" to bassists
BassBunny replied to SiOfBass's topic in General Discussion
Interesting debate and as an "ex-guitarist", I have no desire to go back. Bass is the best job in the house and coupled with a good drummer, is a dynamite combination. I had an comment from a punter at a gig last week about just that. The guitarists had both turned the volume up and the Drummer and I carried on with our job of providing a really solid groove throughout. This guy noticed it and said it kept everything together. That is what the audience starts tapping their feet to, not a Steve Vai solo. Try imagining virtually any song without the Bass line and it falls flat. Yep, best job in the house. -
Ah.... you may not blow them....... depends how you use them..... Generally you would use a larger power amp to drive any speaker so you don't start to introduce any distortion into the signal path... just be careful.... I have to agree that these would be no good for the size venue your suggesting. you will be better off with 15" drivers and 3-400 watts.... For the record I used a pair of Class D tops once........ absolute pants.... sounded dreadful.
Hi Crez, The tops on there own arn't that good. They are very "toppy". With the Bins they sound really good. We were Di'ing keys and miked up Drims through them. They are made to be used with the bins and contain a crossover that limits Bass freqs. For the price they were relly good. I guess it also depends what you are feeding them with.
Hey, can some one tell me, would these be loud enough for a 3 piece band playing in pubs and small halls? we have a 1200w powered mixer to power them Tim
Tim, According to the specs they will only handle 200W RMS, so you would blow them up pretty quickly if your mixer is 600W per side. They really are only suitable for vocals as they only have a 10" driver. Something like this is closer to the mark. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Class-d-CD128-500wat...1QQcmdZViewItem Or if you are di'ing bass and miking up drums, try this. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Class-d-CD15158-spea...oQQcmdZViewItem We had a set of Class D Tops and Bins that we bought direct from them and they were a good deal. They are excellent value for money.
It's a bit orange and need a good clean, new strings and a service but it feels really nice. Really played in. Here's a pic to appease/encourage some GAS. Edit: there was no case which was a shame, but all the paperwork. And the nice guy selling it also did me a deal on top of the quoted price.
Really nice Bass. I was after it as well but as they say " He who dithers". Nice to see it went to a BCer and if he did a deal as well, what can I say. Enjoy. Stuart
He does say that he got it for a bargain price at a sale, and it is going £450 cheaper than the RRP. I can't see much wrong with trying to make a profit from a bass you bought in a sale.
Agreed, I guess any of us would have bought a stack of Eden stuff and then re sold for a profit, "IF" we had the cash to lay out. -
Yeah, I spoke to him also. Lets hope its still for sale later on. Seems too cheap though.
Agreed, if it is still For Sale, there must be something up....
Looks about right price for a Tribute.
According to tha Ad it isn't a Tribute, it's a genuine American one with Certificate of Authenticity. Spoke to the guy, but there is someone going to see it at 8:30 tonight.
Hello! I need to get rid of these axes as I have too many puppies around... The first one is a hand made piccolo bass strung with new LaBella. It's 32" with Ovangkol/Maple neck and Wengé fingerboard. The body is Maple/Zebrawood, has EMG pickups and black brass hardware. The second one is a Yamaha BBN5 in Walnut finish. You know the bass, it sounds extremely good for the price. The Low B sounds amazing. £200 for the piccolo, £100 for the BBN. Pics asap. I can add a Yamaha hard case for extra money.
Wouldn't mind a pic of the Yamaha.

Clear out time – how to rationalise gear?!
BassBunny replied to G-bitch's topic in General Discussion
Frankenstein P bass with moses graphite J neck, cheap ass body and sub-par construction – still sounds damn good mind! Would probably part this out rather than inflict my dodgy drilling and shielding on anyone
Could be interested in the P Bass, or should I say I could be interested in the Moses neck. let me know if you decide to part company. Cheers, Stuart -

Fender Telecaster
BassBunny replied to BassBunny's topic in Accessories & Other Musically Related Items For Sale
An American Tele for £350.... Bugger, if I hadn't just spent a grand on a car and insurance, I'd have snapped it up.
Yep a BRAND NEW one at that. If I didn't already have one, (plus I am commited to the dark side now), I would have snatched their hands off. It is a really nice example. -
Here's one for our "skinny string" friends. I was in Cash Recycle in Eccles, (Manchester), and they have a brand new American Fender Telecaster for sale for £350. It's a Maple fingerboard one in Sunburst. Still has the cellophane on the pickguard, all tags, Fender guarantee and even an ABS case, (that looks like the genuine Fender version as well). IF I didn't already have a 62 re-issue in Butterscotch Blond, I would have snapped it up in a shot. I reckon it could be haggled down to about £325 as a friend of mine got an american P Bass from the same shop. They wanted £250 and he got them down to £225 by waving the folding stuff. The same guy later bought a 1980's Fender Mustang Bass for £60, (battered to hell or full of Mojo, your choice). Once the Mustang had been restored he traded both basses for a brand new 5 string Stingray at Sound Control. There are some bargains to be had at this place.

Sent the seller an e-mail asking for serial number and model and this was the reply:
"Hi, My bass is in Paris at the moment, I will bring it back before the end of july. I will phone tomorrow to get the serial number and get back to you. Thanks, Lucy."
As the listing ends in 3 days, any buyer won't see the goods for 2 weeks or so.
