We use "Add To Event" as a source of gigs. If you go on there and put in your requirements then any band that fits will get in touch. Put as much detail as you can as any interested bands pay a nominal fee for your contact details and I always give a swerve to any that just say, "band needed".

Tower PA system, looking for recommendations and reviews
BassBunny replied to Dropzone's topic in General Discussion
We were in the same situation and our vocalist bought a single Fender Expo for his solo work and it ended up, with a second one, being our go to PA. Forget the Fender badge as it's actually a re-badged LD Systems Maui 11. It comes in 2 parts with the "tower" section just unplugging, so easy to carry and really light. First time I came in contact with is was a private function in a large function room. When I turned up there it was, just the one of them. No sign of the 4 box system we normally use and I just went " Of stinky poo". A 6 piece band with 4 vocals, keyboards with sequenced brass/strings and kick/overhead drums all going through it and I figured we were in for a disaster of an evening. Vocalist was confident it would be fine and the guitarist, who runs a largish PA company was in hysterics. He is used to massive line array systems and although quite dismissive of the situation was also a bit curious. Anyway the evening went really well. The single unit was outstanding. It was loud, clear and easily heard all over the room. I was that impressed, I went out and bought a second unit and we used the pair of then for all future gigs, including some outside ones. The vocalist has since bought an RCF Evox 8 which he uses for solo stuff which is also amazing. Wouldn't go back to a conventional PA now but the band has now folded so I guess the Expos will be up for sale. -
Great choice. We do the original version as we have a horn section and it's great to get the crowd involved.

These are the ones I "manufactured". If they're any use, let me know.

I had the same problem of not being able to get rack ears for a particular amp and bought 2 aluminium angle brackets from eBay. A bit of modifying and they worked a treat. Think I still have them, but not the amp, so will take a pic and if they'll do the job you can have them.

Pedulla Rapture JJ, low output, Bartolini NTBT gain trimpot?
BassBunny replied to lucatus's topic in Repairs and Technical
It should have a prewired trimpot. It's not built into the main pre-amp but is a small square pot wired into the main block. Is it hidden under something? -
I'm surprised they came out with a 600w version when Guy has been using ABM900's. I do like the look but the price tag isn't moving me to ditch my EVO-IV for it.

Details now up on the website. Just north of £1k. https://ashdownmusic.com/collections/heads/products/interstellar-600

Didn't VAT legislation in the EU change on 1st May? That was when Thomann and a couple of companies I buy wine from in the EU started charging "all inclusive" prices.
-
It states on their website that "all prices include 20% VAT unless otherwise stated", so there shouldn't be any other charges. Worth checking first though.

There's a Klystron 1x15 for sale on eBay at the moment.

Ashdown are the best in the business. 5yr warranty on their amps and they will repair anything they've ever made at really great prices. They now repair old Trace gear as well, which is a logical move. I was a long time Mark Bass user until a repair estimate north of £200 prompted me to look elsewhere.

It's a Class D power amp.
-
It's actually Real Electronics in Sheffield who are the authorised repairers. Here are their charges. £35 to diagnose the problem, which you get back if you go ahead. £69 fixed labour, £18 courier fee to send it back + parts + VAT. I am pretty sure they don't repair to component level so just "board swappers". As @lemmywinks has said, the repair cost is likely to be greater than buying a used head.

The capacitor on tone control is a passive loom. It's actually a treble bleed. The Tone Monster is active so the treble pot is just part of the circuit. If the bass works ok, it could be a faulty preamp. Which model is it?
-
Nope. 4 Ohms.

He certainly makes some spectacular instruments.

Well Alan, ACG, is well used to fitting them as 2 of my Luminlay basses are ACG's. 1 was a retrofit and I just detached the neck and sent it to him. Have a word with him. Sure he'd be delighted to do the Wal as well.

I've got Luminay on 3 basses and never had a problem. @Andyjr1515 is spot on with the way they function and I've never had a problem getting through a set with them. I tried the Rothko and Frost ones but they were nowhere near as good as Luminlay. If you do decide to go that route, the UV charger they sell is worth buying or get some cheap ones from eBay.

Not that difficult at the moment.
