Bands whose ensemble playing impress you most
BassBunny replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
The mention of Maceo and Fred Wesley instantly makes me think of James Brown and the JB's. Now they were tight, or you got fined 🙂 . -

And they still do. Have seen them twice in the last couple of years as well as a recent streamed gig and they are still "tight as a gnat's chuff". As you may gather I'm a big fan. 🙂 Earth Wind and Fire in the day were pretty awesome too. One of the best stage shows at the time as well as some awesome tight playing. -

Trying to track down an ashdown mini rig

Would this be ok? Nothing to do with me. Just spotted on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2021619271425879/permalink/2794204017500730/?sale_post_id=2794204017500730 -

Well worth a try as already mentioned they are probably the most customer focused company out there. Why not stick a post in the Wanted section down below. You never know your luck. -
MM & P pickup - needs active blend?

Sorry Alan, I didn't know they were currently available. -
MM & P pickup - needs active blend?
BassBunny replied to bloke_zero's topic in Repairs and Technical
The ACG01, which is made by John East to Alan's spec, is the only pre-amp that ACG sold but I don't think Alan has any more. I think John was selling them as well at one point. I've got 2 ACG's with them in and they are already a bit more "full featured" than the Lusithand version. There is info on it on the ACG website including how it functions. It is nothing like a conventional 3 band cut/boost and needs a slightly different approach when using it. Once you master it you wonder how you managed without it. 🙂 Adding a conventional module, like the East mid isn't really the way to go. A properly designed filter stack does it all. -

That looks really interesting. It is very much like the East/ACG filter based pre- amp in modular form. Might have to get some more info. -
That's a good point and considering the way they dressed that they don't want anything to screw up, this could be a monumental fail in not mentioning it.

But of info, and hope, going forward for dedicated venues. "We are pleased to announce due to Alchemy - Live Music Bar, being classed as a Grassroots LMV that from 6pm Friday-Saturday we will be a ticketed only venue and can finally get back to what we do best....hosting Live Music. Under the NEW Government rulings WE DO NOT have to serve beer with food as the Tier 2 demands however we will return to all live music gigs being ticketed events for entry in accordance with new regulations. These events will be seated, socially distanced and monitored in-line with all current Covid restrictions as we have been doing since the last lockdown. Sound levels will be monitored constantly during performances to ensure we are following all set government guidelines. The Government have offered us an olive branch and we will not risk ruining this chance by allowing our Covid safe standards to slip or by allowing anyone else to ruin it for us. Therefore please ensure you follow all regulations at ALL times - such as wearing a mask when moving around the venue, submitting to Track and Trace, using the cleaning stations, not mixing with other parties and remaining seated at your table or you will be asked to leave."

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
BassBunny replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Yep, that's depressed me big style. Looks like the same lineup as us and I can't honestly see any light at the end of the tunnel. If fact not sure the band will survive. -
You and me both.🤨

Internet radio is the future, apparently. So who knows where it may lead.

Sounds great Phil and a really sensible way forward.

Could the BassChat cab design threads not be pinned?

Some VERY good news at last - live music back by the Spring?
BassBunny replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Yep looks that way which is a bit crazy. 5 local NW brewers put a report together before lockdown 2. In the period between June, when they re-opened after LD1, and when NW went into Tier3 they had around 8m customers and not 1 reported case of Covid transmission but unless that could operate as a restaurant, they had to shut. The entertainment industry has the most stringent measures in place and considered one of the safest. With the amount of revenue the government get from alcohol, it seems nuts. -

Here's the recommended amp techs link from the Repairs and Technical section. You might find someone there.

Totally agree. It is absolutely crucial that everything is recorded and presented/analysed accurately, that is not happening. -

I know but the same principles will apply. They agree to buy something and then decide how much they want to pay. -

The EU may have reached a deal but that doesn't guarantee them getting them. We were asked to join the EU Ventilator purchase scheme and decided not to. The EU haven't bought any yet as they can't decide how much to pay for them. The F1 community in the UK got together and have built tons, re-engineering them on the way to make them more efficient. -

Seasonal Flu has disappeared apparently. Even the WHO haven't recorded a case in months. Since Oct 8th the NHE and ONS figures include Flu with Covid which makes the numbers even more unreliable. -
They look like Gotoh tuners or a generic version. Probably find some f/s down below.

Compact/portable amp head recommendations
BassBunny replied to AinsleyWalker's topic in Amps and Cabs
The Warwick LWA500 is a pretty stellar deal from Thomann and the a couple of TC heads. All less than £200 and you can return if you don't like.
