You can. You plug the phone/ mp3 in the Aux In but the sound only comes out of the Phones output and not the Speaker output.

Peavey 215 refurb - grill cloth? Corners?
BassBunny replied to kingforaday's topic in Repairs and Technical
If the rolex is not ripped after cleaning you could use an automotive product that is used for dressing plastic trim/tyres. I've used one called "Back to Black" and it worked really well as it has a black pigment in it so disguises any scrapes. -

Glad you confirmed my findings. Mines been on a few weeks now and haven't had any issues at all. I've used them a few times in the past and have always been happy. Stonking VFM.

Steve Winwood - Gimme Some Lovin' (2020)

He's definitely still got it. Met him in 1969 when he was in Traffic. We were playing at Liverpool University with them and Pink Floyd and had a chat backstage. Hell if a nice guy and his Hammond playing was off the hook. -
I got mine off eBay, free delivery and 30 day return. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/371949327974

I think JHS might have the specs wrong as I had one of these on a Squier VM 5 string P Bass and a Harley Benton 5 string PJ, both 18mm string spacing. The Bacchus I have just fitted one to is definitely 18mm, confirm by Deviser, so not sure what is going on with the Wilkinson specs.
-
When I got it I compared to the one already fitted and it looked exactly right so it is now fitted. I does appear to be 18mm as I've measured the one I removed.
-
I am a big fan of these bridges and have used a few if them. I ordered one without realizing that my newly acquired Bacchus has 18mm spaced strings. It's arrived and actually appears to be 18mm. Exactly the same size etc. to the one I removed but much better quality. Best £13.11 I ever spent.

Rumble or Ashdown Rootmaster combos. The BIG advantage with Ashdown is the 5yr warranty and the fact that if there IS a problem, they can/will fix it. Probably the best customer support in the business.
-
I was talking to Dave Green at Ashdown about this very subject in relation to an Ashdown Retroglide. He advised setting master at max and controlling it with the gain.

There's a virtually new Peavey MiniMax in the for sale section. You honestly could not go wrong with that. They punch way above their weight and sound epic. Eminently gigable as well. The fir sale thread is nothing to do with me btw.

Alan is indeed based in Moffat.

Alan Cringean of ACG guitars uses a P Bass type pickup in a soapbar case and his pickups are made by Aaron Armstrong. Might be worth contacting Aaron to see what he can do.

I've had 2 MIJ Bacchus basses and both were superb. I've just bought one of the Global series Woodlines, a WL534, hand made in the Philippines. It is also fantastic. There is someone in France, I think, that sells Bacchus but I think the go to guy is Danny Stewart at Japan Bass Direct. He seems to have most MIJ basses and can give you some great advice.

Just done a review of a WL534 I bought recently.

In the past I've had 2 Bacchus basses, both handmade in Japan and both utterly superb. Not sure why I ever sold them as they were amazing basses and rank with the best out there. Recently I was tipped off by @bassbloke of a made in the Philippines Woodline 5 string in trans blue for sale on eBay. The WL Global Series is a more affordable version of Woodline, which has been the leading model of the Bacchus Handmade series. The Woodline Global series are handmade in the Philippines as opposed to Japan and are a more affordable version to the full fat MIJ ones. Apparently Deviser, who produce the Bacchus range, wanted to try and produce an instrument at a lower price point without compromising the brand. They sent some of their luthiers out to the Philippines to train the workforce there and keep a watchful eye on them. So how do they differ. Firstly the woods used are locally sourced and there may be some woods we are unfamiliar with, not in my case. It's a mahogany body, maple neck and rosewood fingerboard. Tips the scales at 8lb 4oz in old money. The body is slightly down-sized, the neck is superb, and the truss rod adjuster set at the body-end of the neck makes for easy adjustment of neck relief. The workmanship is every bit as good as the Japanese versions, in my opinion, everything fits as it should and it is flawless. It comes with a Bacchus badged gig bag. So what are the major differences? Hardware is Bacchus's own rather than Gotoh or Hipshot and the pre-amp is a generic Chinese one rather than Aguilar or Bartolini. Mine is set up for 2Vol, Bass/Treble cut/boost. The pickups are their own and is the standard JJ arrangement. So what does it sound like? Unfortunately in the current situation I haven't been able to use it in anger in a gig or rehearsal situation. I first tried it with my amp and headphones and instantly was wowed. It has a tremendous "bark" to it with everything flat. Even though the pre-amp isn't a known quantity it has tons of cut and boost. I got really carried away when first tying it as it is an absolute joy to play. I decided to sneak a speaker indoors when the neighbours were out and subject to a bit of low level playing. Sounds tremendous and I'm really looking forward to the time when i can really put it through it's paces. There are a couple of negatives. There is no battery box so to replace the battery means removing the cavity cover to get at the electronics. Also there is no Active/Passive option so if a battery dies on you mid gig, you're stuffed. I feel the battery box omission really is a mistake. They cost very little, especially is bought in the sort on bulk Bacchus buy in and even though this is a handmade instrument, the basic shape and control cavity would have been CNC'd, so apart from a bit of programming, the additional cost is very little. Both these issue are solvable. I have a couple of battery boxes so a trip to my local luthier and that is solved. I can easily change the pre-amp but will reserve judgement until I've had some time with it. I'll update the review when I've had a chance to play it properly. meanwhile here are some pics to lust after.

Nope, I got involved in a few things. I'll try and sort later in the week.

And if that doesn't work, abandon it. Seriously, when my MB SA450 went quiet, I checked with Real Electronics in Sheffield, MB authorised repairers, the cost of repairing and basically wrote it off. There are no user serviceable parts and MB won't release the circuit diagrams. Gee electronics in Warrington had a go at it and failed. I have since moved over to Ashdown after a process of elimination involving 5 different amps.

I know. Even more so after speaking to the guy that listed. 😉 I've had 2 MIJ Bacchus in the past and always regretted selling them. Although this is a Philippines one the workmanship is every bit as good. It's also nice and light. I'll do a review on it at some point but thanks again for the heads up.
