Had to pop this up more so as a recommendation for Terry at TJC Guitars and The Bass Doc. As you can see from the left pic, younger me decided to 'relic' my US Precision. I then recently took it to have the output fixed and the guy in the shop decided copious amounts extra screws into the pickguard would fix it. Basically it was ruined. I ordered a new plate from The Bass Doc and then sent the body over to Terry in Stevenage. As you can see the result is great! I asked for Olympic White in nitro so it would yellow nicely over time. Now to go back in time and slap myself and a massive thanks to Terry and The Bass Doc! Ask for the input on my bass to be fixed ...
alexisonfire replied to alexisonfire's topic in Bass Guitars
£45 - This was to fix the broken strap pin (they put a dowel in and re screwed which I think is pretty acceptable??), to restring with strings I provided, oil the fret board and repair the iiiiii-output. The bass body is in a pretty bad state as I tried to relic it stupidly years ago. Though this shouldn't have resulted in the above. I'm having it refinished next month so I'll get onto the bass doc for a nice new one to go with the shiny new paint job! I'll give you a clue as to the culprit ... I got a pretty 'Unfair Deal' in Birmingham. -

I've been playing for 9 years and you've litterally just made me realise that I've been calling an output an input. How embarrassing. Either way, I don't think I deserved it for that haha! -

The pick guard was broken as shown but the bit of plastic that had broken off sat nicely under the screw when aligned properly upon screwing the pick guard on. I asked him to restring it too (out of laziness/ two birds one stone) and he's managed to stuff that up too as he's just wrapped them around the tuner instead of inserting the end into the middle of the tuner first before folding and then wrapping them. I haven't got the balls to go back in if I'm honest! -
It's comes back with two new screws ... To quote the guy at the shop: 'I've enhanced your input jack' He also tried telling me a loose strap pin was also to blame for the input not working. WHY must I be the typical Brit! I just smiled and left without saying a word. Seething! [s]Even though it kind of defeats the object of trying to scale down, the only thing trade remotely consider would be an AD200 and an OBC410 ... I've had one before and they're better at lower volumes than the SVT so more suitable to my situation (trying to justify it to myself here).[/s]

Hi, I bought these around three years ago with the full intention of gigging with my then band. This never came to fruition and so has been sat in my house for practice use ever since. Both have just been serviced, with all joints re-soldered that require it. The head has had a full pre amp re-valve too. Minor cosmetic dings here and there as pictured, as you can see a couple of the knobs are silver, but the original black ones can be sourced relatively cheaply. Both were made in the US back when Ampeg were owned by SLM. The head, which comes with flight case included, was owned by one person before myself, who is also a member on the forum. Price wise, I am looking for a firm £850 for the head and £350 for the cab, given the service (this week) and flight case. It would be awesome if I could sell them together but I'm happy to split. Possible trades listed below! I'm located in Stafford (ST17 4AU), for trial and possible purchase Thanks for looking. Martin. Downgrading from an SVTCL/SVT410HLF. Opinions?
alexisonfire replied to alexisonfire's topic in Amps and Cabs
Fantastic suggestion. I've not looked at Ashdown stuff for a few years now, infact, new gear from any brands, but after looking at a few reviews on YouTube, this seems like a very good alternative for my situation. -
Due to all aspirations of becoming a rock star, being quashed by the realism that is the inevitability of working in the office for the foreseeable future, I've decided to sell my pride and joy. My SVT CL and SVT 410HLF. I live in a semi detached house, the thing just isn't being used to it's full potential, the volume knob rarely seeing 2. So, I need to replace her with something that may help cushion the blow a little. I'll still be jamming with a couple of mates on guitars once in a while and I'll still be playing along to my favourite tunes, all at home. I'd like to open the floor to opinions on what people would perceive to be a suitable downgrade. I love the tube sound the breaks up nice and early, and sounds growly. I play a 2005 US P bass with quarter pounders fitted. My first thoughts are a good quality practice amp, around 50W utilising a Sansamp BDDI maybe? What are people’s thoughts? Cheers in advance!

Alright guys, I'm selling this on behalf of my friend (though it is in my possession). It has seen circa 20 gigs but in great condition, a couple of nocks at the end of the rack ears but nothing major. It's just a sticker on the top, so can be removed. Plenty of reviews on the web available on this, I'm strictly valve only and haven't personally played it so cannot comment on the sound etc. I usually have an SVT-410hlf at home for you to try it through should you wish, just give me a shout a couple of days before so I can bring it back from the practice studio if it's not at home. Looking for £250 collected from ST16 2BS. Anyone questions, ask away! Peavey Tour 700 Features:

700W into 4 ohms (4-ohm minimum load)
Pre- and post-gain controls
Bright and and low-cut switches
Contour control for advanced signal shaping
Active high and low shelving controls
Hi boost, low cut
9-band constant-Q graphic equalizer with bypass switch
Analog octave divider with level control
and footswitchable bypass
Post-EQ effects loop
Buffered tuner send jack
DI XLR output with fail-safe phantom power backup capability
2 input jacks for high and low output bases
Rear-mounted auxiliary input jack
Just bought some quarter pounder pick ups from Nick, pretty much immediately despatched, well packaged and in described condition. Cheers matey!

Jaydee quoted £185 with a 6 month wait, which Im tempted with. The reason I want nitro is because it ages/relics through normal use which is what I like, where as poly (if looked after) won't.

Sorry to pull this thread up again, just want one last shout out to see if anyone has used these guys before! Im on the verge of sending it to be done (just need to box up and send the dimensions to him etc). Overall quote is £310 for the lot.

I live just over the road from the Gatehouse! Keep us posted in the gigs section of the forum and I'll bring a couple of mates along. Sounds like a bit of a disaster! I haven't actually, I tend to get most of my gear on here and strings etc online, will pop in a take a look next time Im up that end of town. -
