Hi after putting some heavier strings on the other day ,i removed the truss rod cover to give the neck a tweak,to find that a previous owner has rounded the truss rod nut unfortunately,so until i get it sorted think is only fair to withdraw it from sale. In one way i wish i'd not changed the strings (never had cover off it before)but i think is probably good job i discovered it. if can be sorted(?)an i put it back up will let you know, never had this problem before just hope haven't got to have fingerboard off! The set-up is ok on it,i just wouldn't want to sell it on without the truss rod working properely(especially if is an expensive fix!) Pete

I've shipped with fedex and ups to usa and they'll both insure up to £2500 ,but obviously it affects the price.Never used parcelforce, heard not very good reports about them. And if it's the bass i think it is keep the strings on and at concert. The hornbeam laminates are more liable to give problems if you get a back bow than vice versa. Just fix a few layers of bubble wrap onto and right around the harcase ,then get a box or make your own around it.
no i dont think musical instruments can be insured for any more than £150, full stop. You can't buy any additional insurance. Well you can, but it would be a complete waste of money when it came to claiming, as they would only give you a max of £150, and thats only when its in a hardcase AND has a thick box around it
Is the wooden neck the original neck for the bass?
okay, rethink iv kinda gone off the bass i was looking at, couple of things about it iv decided i didnt like, and i cant spend this kinda money unless im 100% happy with the bass (FYI it was a 1986 vigier passion series 2(?), one of the first ever built 0025) its still for sale kinda, but i'm gunna give it a good play over the weekend and such, and il probably end up keeping it, il better myself as a player and start using that B. The tone and otherwise playability of this superb instrument is worth that
I was gonna ask the same question cos i've got these same strings on my chris larkin bass and i love em!!But dont know what they are. i thought they might be ernie balls but only basing on the fact that i have never tried them.Have never had Warwicks or a load of other strings though either.

I know ,it's such a class instrument,if it goes be great if it went back home .pm'd you some details
You will seriously regret getting rid of this! I know I did when I sold my single cut Chris Larkin is an amazing luthier and all round nice chap. And thats a steal of a price too; sorely tempted myself. Where you based mate?
I know i'm gonna regret this ,this is the only bass i've consistently enjoyed playing apart from the Wals. Chris has only made around 250 basses in 30 years,so most of you probably not came across one before. Made by hand in Co. Kerry http://chrislarkinguitars.com/ Chris' work is some of the best i've seen ,and his Blen E.U.B. is awesome too. Original Kent Armstrong pick ups ,3 band active (bass, mid, treble) controls ,volume (pulls up for passive),pickup pan ,passive tone.Has a few little dings in finish but pretty much all in the back(and some crazing of the lacquer too on back) Gorgeous Figured maple over mahogany body, and the finish/colours are incredible Has light strings on at moment and a nice action . Will get some more pics up soon, the finish has more blue in than the pics suggest depending on the light it's in.These are just under 2grand new Any interest pm me looking for £780 !!! now £650!!!! Cheers Pete

SUMMIT TD 100 Tube DI Box and Instrument Pre amp
walplayer replied to Owen's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
Ok thanks Owen, know what you mean about the killer tone stuff,i'm leaning towards the the tab v71 but only from what i've read..i suppose it's all trial and error and depending what you stick through them too, thanks though.
The harsh reality is that I don't know. I realise that I'm not selling it well based on your Q, but there is so much rubbish spoken on the WWW using words like "killer tone" etc that I am trying to avoid getting dragged into the hyperbole. I had a look at both the units you mentioned. The review on the REDDI seemed to point towards a sound character which helps everything sit very well in a mix with no further treatment. This is more about providing a full range sound with a sublte sheen to it. The Tab v71 looks to be modelled on Telefunken kit which is very sought after as well. I could not find any reviews. The Summit sounds as nice as my Demeter, but the Demeter has a parametric on it which I need for a Double Bass with a boomy Bb. If it was not for needing EQ then I would keep it and not have to lug a 19" rack around. I'm sure there must be forums around which would be able to give you more informed information.
-

walplayer replied to walplayer's topic in Basses For Sale
Thanks Nick. Still available.
Allo! First you've got a 4 way rotary selector switch with LED indication - you've got an off position, rear pickup only, both p/ups on, front pickup only. The two chrome knobs are notched master volume and passive treble, the mini toggle is the Active EQ on/off switch -which brings the EQ into play; the three abalone-topped black knobs are bass, middle and treble (all centre detented with cut/boost). The XLR does not act as a DI out - its just a more secure method of plugging in!
-
Presumably that quote didn't involve replacing the front facing and refinishing the entire bass?
No i doubt it,just localised tidying up i'd assume at that price .But if you know anywhere that does a complete refin at that price let me know. -
