1. I’ve previously played a SVT-CL, SVT 350H, Portaflex, and a few of the Ampeg combos. This II Pro is undeniably the best sounding Ampeg I’ve ever heard. I don’t know how much of that is down to the KT88, but I do not regret the purchase one bit. The only downside is the weight. I’ve sent it in for a health check and service with the local amp repair shop so that it’s running the best it can, and he has commented that this USA era are the best they made.
2. For home playing when loud volume isn’t required, I found the Ashdown Perfect 10 mini-stack to be exceptionally good. Very warm and lovely tone. Very lightweight. Reasonably cheap. Not very loud (you couldn’t gig with it). A vast difference to most Ashdown stuff which doesn’t sound very nice (generally) Its now discontinued but you see them for sale second hand sometimes. Such as here (not mine): https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ashdown-Perfect-Ten-60-mini-stack/153851480727?hash=item23d2434a97:g:hUsAAOSwPjNeXUT9
3. 10/10 effort
4. I think they cancel out each other's weight right?
5. Does this count as a lightweight rig, or do the two components count each other out?
6. Could that be down to the valve pre? (Also a contrasting opinion, I couldn’t stand TB mk1!)
7. Still the Aguilar TH for me!
8. I’ve been trying to pick up a Mesa 400+ without luck as the only ones on offer at the moment are too high (£1500 on eBay, versus the £700 one sold for on here last month) so when I stumbled across this USA II Pro only an hour away I thought I might as well! I’m sure I’ll still have in my head “well it’s not the Mesa” and GAS will take over, however I must say the tone off of this is very nice. As mentioned before, I’d been adamant to myself that I’d be swapping it straight back from KT88 to 6550 but I’m really enjoying how it sounds with these. Grind if you want it, but a nice clean if you don’t which I’ve not heard on Ampegs before. I can’t get as much drive out of it as I would with the 6550, but I suppose I have a pedal for that if I need it full on. I have admittedly not heard previously heard a II myself, but have used the CL and a few others and I never ever enjoyed the clean tone off of them. This breaks the mould!
9. Mid 90s, USA made, recently revalved with KT88s! When I found out I made a resolution in my mind that I’d be buying 6550s to swap it back in search of more grind but on hearing it it’s all there (or well, there’s enough of it for my liking) plus there’s the KT88 benefit of a bit more HiFi clean at the start of the gain range and more power.
10. You mean the one that’s now in the back of my car right? #brightonroadtrip
11. If you saw an Ampeg or Orange 4x10 being listed on here for £200, you'd grab the seller's arm off. Well this cab is from an equally reputable name which is just as good if not better (and it's in a flightcase!), and is still available £200. Mere pennies for the amount of sound thou shalt receiveth.
12. Bump for many new images! http://imgur.com/a/tPxLN
13.
Nice bass mate. What does the S 1 switch actually do?

It puts the pickups in either parallel or series - can never remember which - but it makes the bass sound more Jazz-like. Good price for this one.
Lozz explained it pretty well. It swaps the wiring of the pickups and takes you from standard P-bass to a P-Bass/Jazz hybrid sound. The S1 switch is hidden in the gain pot. You activate it by pushing/pulling it. It wasn't an aftermarket modification, it was done as standard by Fender for this model.
14. Hello all, Expensive bills are terrible and unfortunately I'm facing a few of them so my main bass has to find a new home! I've owned this since 2010 and it's been my main bass in that time. I've rarely played for the last two years so it doesn't see as much action as it used to. This is a 2005 Fender USA Standard Series P-Bass. Unmodified from stock. It has a few tiny marks that you'd expect from normal use but it is free of any serious damage. The USA models of this period were given the S1 switch as standard which is uncommon for a P-Bass, and it's quite a handy tool. I'm in Surrey, and ideally looking for someone to collect. Please PM me if you'd be interested! Further images to follow.
15. Accepting offers if you're collecting. This needs to get shifted. If you're looking for an indestructible top tier cab for a rehearsal room, live venue, or tour, this is the one.
16. Sold to the above gent!
17. Hello all, As you'll probably know, the Aguilar Tonehammer is a coveted mini-head capable of producing the sounds you'd only expect from a big stack. I'm now selling mine as I don't play anymore, and it's in brilliant condition. I've been the owner for the last couple of years, and it's not got even a scratch on it and it works flawlessly. Any more questions, feel free to ask. I haven't said much on the amp because we all know what wonders it can do! Aguilar Tonehammer 350 £300 Not looking for trades at this stage I'm afraid. Located in Epsom (Surrey). Will consider offers if you collect and save me the hassle of posting! 18. Hello all, this is now up for sale again. I'd be willing to entertain offers but not trades. Thanks. If you can collect to save me the hassle of posting, I'll let you have this for £250.
19. I will miss this amp! The sound was very powerful. It's just the weight and size that mean I have to part ways with it now that I don't do any gigging and can't justify it!
20. I used to have two Ashdown MAG cabs vertically stacked on their ends with a 4U rackmounted amp on top. There were no issues, so it should be fine!

This man bought an amp from me. Refreshingly, there were no issues, no messing around, he came heard me play it for a minute then showed the cash! Would happily take him out for a nice fish supper, and I'd call him after.
