1. I would recommend getting the focusrite saffire pro 40 and the focusrite octopre. That'd give you 16 channels to play with all on one firewire connection. As for condensor, a shotgun Mic will do you much much better than a normal style condenser microphone.
2. I've just made a post in the bassists wanted section. Have a look there for more info.
3. I'm playing drums for this outfit so we are in need of a bassist. Planning on covers to begin with, and a view to moving progressively to originals as and when. We are 19, 21 and 23 so we're looking for someone preferably around the same age. Someone who can join in on vocals would also be most handy! General rock/metal haberdashery. Hard to pin a particular sound on it. I'm big on nu-metal, lead guitarist is one for 70's rock and the rhythm man is 80's rock. Probably turns out as a heavier wolfmother shizz. We've all been playing for a long time but not together so it's a new formation. So if you're in the area and fancy joining some gibson toting student types in a band then let me know! We've got a decent practice space here which we use. If you're unable to transport a rig in for rehearsal then you can use mine for ease.
4. I need a bassist in my band as I'm being drafted to drums instead.
5. And another Bournemouth guy! Hi there!
6. I should be of some help. Could you PM me with the specifics of ze task?
7. http://www.monolith-loudspeakers.com/index.html A 4x15 cab. Do want?
8.
Firstly thanks for the responses, and on a sunday Yep, re the ohm switching option, am not used to that as none of my previous amps have had that feature, does it really chuck full out into 8ohms? I can only say that my old orange OBC 410 did exactly what I want, the RS212 on it's own doesn't in every situation I get into (without the 210 anyway), so although something like the Genz 212 might, I fear 212 is not really for me I'm not unhappy with my current setup, but would love to achieve what the pair of cabs (210 & 212) do in one light lift, if possible, or is that like saying "I want an umpalompa"? I guess a Barefaced or a 410 that I can pick up without getting a strain might be the way to go ... Please keep the comments coming, its all good
Orange Isobaric 410. Not the smaller ones but actually a full 410 in a tiny package. Might do it?
9. Orange Bass Terror and Isobaric 210 now inbound! Inspiration was this thread.
10. Bass terror and isobaric cabs now purchased
11. A PM is flying to you as if it were carried by a magnificent owl.
12. If the combo's minimum impedance is 8 Ohms (which I'd assume from that), you can't use it with a 4 Ohm cabinet.
13. Hello. Welcome to basschat! I live in Dorset (Bournemouth) and I'm about to sell my Ashdown kit in favour of a new system. It's an Ashdown Little Giant head and two Ashdown cabs (2x10 and a 1x15). Coincidence? Let me know if you'd be interested in trying it out. Alex.
14. Spent a while thinking about it and I'm now down to two options. Orange Bass Terror and one of their isobaric cabs Promethean. I'm leaning towards the Orange atm.
15. I think I may have found my solution. It is a tad on the pricey side though, unless I can find one second hand.
16. That looks spot on! Any ideas on volume for live? Should it be enough?

18. One of the comments on that video.
Wanna get that sound without hunting down a $ 400 vintage Jet Phaser? Get yourself an old Korg AX1B from Ebay for about $40; set it: Drive: DIST 8 -- Tone: 7/10/9/6/8/-7 -- Mod.: FLANG4/6 -- Ped: VOL 16 -- Amb: HALL1/4 -- Amp sim: T4 -- Nr: 16 -- Lv: 24 Bob's your uncle :-)
19.
I don't think he likes my compressor button.
Engineer: "Well Wayne, for recording on this song we're going to use a bit of compression on your bass. I'm planning on using a tube optical outboard unit on the signal prior to AD conversion, and then once digitised I'll use a few plugins, perhaps a bit of multi-band and a good limiter." Wayne: "DON'T WORRY. I HAZ COMPRESSORS BUTTON!" Engineer: [Facepalm]
20. I was previously (and until I find a new rig) using an Ashdown head with two cabs, yet I moved to uni a few months ago and now have something taking up a lot of room, and without a car, something difficult to take anywhere. I'm after suggestions. 1. A small amp I can use for practicing and studio work. I'll then put my big rig away in storage where it doesn't get in the way and then only bring it out for live playing. Alternatively 2. A smallish amp that I can use for everything. Compact enough to sit here, yet loud enough to be perfectly fine for live. In this eventuality I'd be able to sell my big rig so would have a bigger budget. So I expect looking at about £100 for option 1 or £500 budget for option 2. I use Ashdown at the moment which sounds great, I really love the deep and warm tone, yet I really want something with a powerful rocky sound (with a good overdriven tone available as well), Ampeg and Marshall come to mind. So, your suggestions? Good links? I'm definitely going second hand, and if you happen to be selling something that'd be good then feel free to treat this as a wanted thread as well. The orange terror, isobaric setups do look tasty. Not sure if they'd be the right sound for me? I don't know what tone they give.
21. eBay will be the best solution. You'd probably get a bit more than £100 for it the right person finds it.
22. P-Bass J-Bass Rick Thunderbird Stingray. Those 5?
