1. Spent a day playing with the Fender again, and my fears were confirmed. I prefer the Ryder. The Fender has now been sent to live with a friend, the Ryder shall stay
2. They are a useful tool yet have a tendency to be used by teenage metal drummers who hammer constantly throughout every song with no dynamic control or fluctuation. Just constant beating. When used properly however...
3. A double bass pedal is like a normal bass drum pedal, yet has a second pedal attached by a long arm, thus allowing a drummer to use one bass drum in place of two. They're used a lot by metal drummers who don't want to have to cart two bass drums around.
4.
I remember in my teens my uncle lent me his Gibbo (G3?) which was lovely but it weighed a ton. Fenders don't do a lot for me I'm afraid. Nice to play but boring looks. I'd like a Warwick or a Wal but that will have to be for later.
If you like the Gibsons, then perhaps look at getting an Epiphone model second hand? Dare I say a Thunderbird?
5.
I'm one.... but it tends to be the PA and Mixing equipment rather than whats on stage
This. And drum kits. uh gaod I love the cymbals!
6. I accidentally gave myself an insight in to how I feel about my instruments. My housemate offered to keep some of my basses in his room whilst he is away so that I have more space. My 4 basses are: Shine Extreme Series 5 Fender Jazz Epiphone Thunderbird Pro Ryder Precision I decided within a second that the shine can go behind the locked door as it never gets used. Then next I made the decision that the tbird would be staying with me, and then it was just a case of whether to hang on to the jazz or ryder. That was difficult and I almost found myself choosing the Ryder! But in the end I chose the keep the Fender with me as I want something that I don't mind other people using. Could it be? I prefer the Ryder... WUT.
7. I shall now be attempting to find just a normal one second-hand. Here goes nothing...
8. The PG range are just a cheap range of brothers to the proper SM series. PG58 to the SM58 for example. They'll be better than most rubbish you'll pick up and will be fine to use live, yet I would recommend putting your money elsewhere. Especially if you're buying for studio purposes. I would recommend getting http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tbone_mb85_beta.htm Effectively a ripoff of the Shure Beta 58, but VERY well done.
9.
The cost of the raw neodymium in our drivers has gone from about £5 to £50 per woofer, in the last year.
WUT. What drove up the price!?
10. Potential deal? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Trace-Elliot-V-Type-...=item230f77526a
11.
you should have no problem sourcing a pre-owned SM58 or similar.
The trouble is finding a genuine one and not a fake.
12. I'd recommend using Firewire drives personally
13. After speaking to them for the past few weeks, I just got another email from them. Gibson don't do customs for their basses. AWWW SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
14. Indie Guitars. Their gigbags are very good.
15. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RICKENBACKER-4003-BA...=item25621fefe1 Not sure of their usual price but that seems pretty cheap.

Deal?

http://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-guitar-amp...-full-stack.asp Not my cup but seems a good deal.
17.
You want mids and highs from the mic and the e602 scoops loads of the important mids out. Check it's frequency response:
Interesting. I go the other way round; relying on DI for clear and articulate mid/highs and then mic for POWERAWESOMENESSBLOWYOURFACEOFFBASS. Hence the e602 choice.
18. If you're looking for two active full-range speakers then the Tapco Thump speakers come highly recommended but if you can afford their mackie counterparts then go for them instead! http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~M...5A~ID~12773.asp http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~M...ck~ID~13174.asp
19. You'd never use a cabinet mic solo. It should be used in combination with a good DI. The microphone is there just to add that bass power/tone to it that you just can't get from DI alone. Hence using what is primarily a bass drum microphone. You don't need to rely on it to reproduce everything, it's there to do a specific job in supplementing the DI, and a microphone like the e602 does that best.
20. Posted this elsewhere but reposting for brilliance.
21. Sennheiser e602-II seems to be the microphone of choice for the touring bands we have in. Recommended http://www.thomann.de/gb/sennheiser_e_602_ii.htm
