1. Sounds very much like the drums are out of sync. It's not down to drummer error by speeding up etc, rather that every hit comes in too early because the drum track isn't put in properly.
2. I have the Saffire Pro 40 Firewire. Definitely recommended, IMO best in class, and exactly what you're looking for it seems!
3.
Really? There's a million of them out there
I hope you realised I was joshing there Take that joke like a tequila shot! (with salt...) It's just that there's less female drummers overall, and therefore the portion of good ones is EVEN smaller!
like this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XkqTg7iqx94
She good.
4.
Really? Why's that? Who cares if they use Ahead sticks if they can play? You can't measure a player by their sticks. As an example, one of the loudest rock players I know uses Vater 7A Manhattens.
When it comes to Ahead sticks, the easy way of me explaining them is that they make it harder to play if you're a good drummer. If you lack technique they'd probably help, bit like waterwings. When it comes to the drummer you've mentioned, if he's loud and that's his thing, then all he's doing by using 7A sticks is making things harder for himself
5. Not a problem. I picked up the Little Giant head for £160 second hand, the cab came new at £200. I have since added a second cab and also rack mounted the head with a compressor. I am playing with selling the Ashdown setup to pursue my Ampeg dreams. I don't suppose you're anywhere down south are you?
6.
I do have a rather spiffing compressor button on my amp
o.O
7. With bassists/guitarists a good thing to look for to see if someone is good is their ability to tune. There are many other measures for drummers, perhaps one is the sticks they use, or NO sticks as it is in this case. Personally, I'd immediately forget any drummer who turns up with the AHEAD carbon sticks for example.
8. Once again this proves the theory. Girls can't drum well. Now if you excuse me, I'll be sipping from my glass of awesomeness.
9. Realised I don't have the necessary funds to buy the replacement rig I was after so for the moment I'll be hanging on to this.
10. I used to use the Perfect 10 Minirig which was the predecessor to your's. Put simply, it's not really possible to upgrade it realistically. If you're loving the sound then consider looking at some more upmarket Ashdown gear? I did exactly the same.
11. I too have heard good things for this pedal. Would love to get one!
12. The only problem I'm having is that I always hit the pole on the E string pup. I play fingered and quite powerfully. I suppose I'll have to lower it
13. Yes, the results will be published. I'm giving this a week to run before I collect everything in.
14. I'll start it off then: First Bass Owned: Shine 845 'Go To' Bass: Jazz Bass 'Your' Bass: Thunderbird
15. Hello. I decided to start this for my own interest but I suppose it'll prove interesting for most of us. What I'd like you to do is copy the form below and reply with it filled in. In a couple of weeks I'll collate the responses and we'll see what's out there! -Your first bass is fairly self explanatory. -Your go-to bass means the one bass you'd take to cover all bases in a way. For example you get called to a gig blind and you need a reliable workhorse that'll be able to do anything and work well. -And 'Your' / signature bass means the bass that gives you YOUR tone, The one bit of wood that's your signature. You can only put ONE bass for each category, no matter how much it might pain you! First Bass Owned: 'Go To' Bass: 'Your' Bass: EDIT: Thanks for all the replies so far, please make sure you only give ONE bass for each answer, and that you answer all categories, otherwise I can't use your infos
16. Wellllll. I suggest reading the rules of this section, all of them! You'll need to include a lot of things in this listing if you don't want it deleted.
17. It is crazy. I remember this being for sale when I first joined the forum!
18. Arrived. Looks good. Is tasty. Very tasty.
19. Righty then. For those of you that were interested: Here is a sound clip of the Ryder straight out the box: http://soundcloud.com/alexmcalpine/ryderbass-stockstrings And now a clip of it fitted with fresh super slinkies: http://soundcloud.com/alexmcalpine/ryderbass-slinkystrings Both tracks recorded by DI straight in to Logic. Will do the same for the tele and strat later this evening.
20. Not me singing though, was the guitarist! Will adjust them now to make it sit better.
21.
Fail I'm afraid..... Actually when a digital system drops off.... it drops off completely unlike an analogue systems that will transmit interference.
A digital system is either 1 or 0, on or off. The quality is FAR increased as a result of the transmissions being more robust. Just look at the quality of DAB compared to standard broadcast for evidence!
UHF will generally transmit further
Actually VHF transmits further but at the wattage output you get from wireless systems, the VHF/UHF/SHF difference is irrelevant. So that's not the case. The only thing that is of benefit is that the SHF waves of a digital system running at 2.4GHz etc. are far more penetrating and bounce around a lot. This means that the signals are much better in urban or audience environments.
generally the low end digital systems such as Line 6, you can really only get 12 systems/channels working at once
Digital systems are far more compact in their bandwidth usage. You can get more channels in less frequency space compared to analogue.
if you use 2.4/5gig systems on stage you run the high risk of knocking out other networks operating on or near the same frequency banding. not good if your FOH engineer is using wireless control for his line array/main pa speaker controller
This is true for all broadcasts, it just so happens that 2.4GHz is used a lot for other applications whereas the bands used by analogue wireless equipment are only occupied by wireless equipment. It just means you have to make sure that you are on an unoccupied channel. And there are enough that this shouldn't be too hard. So what was that, I failed? I'm not sure that was the politest way you could have put it, especially seeing as you were wrong.
22. My three have arrived Pictures and sound clips to come.
23. Payment has been sent. Now awaiting delivery. Thunderbirds are GO!
24. The digital systems will offer a much better transmission quality. Not only this, they are less dependent on line-of-sight as analogue systems. If you've got the money, there's no real alternative!
