1. I just got a dbx166 after having it recommended. It's a stereo comp so I'll be running them in series. First stage will be working as a harsh limiter pre-effects and then there'll be a gentle compressor inserted post-effects
2. If only I hadn't bought my ME50-B. I'd love to buy this
3. I first learnt bass on a 5 string. Hardly use the B though
4. An interesting idea. You'd need to use an E string instead of the B as it'd be pretty hard work getting it up to a D. But I like your thinking...
5. Know your pieces. That's where the majority of your practice needs to go. I'm doing Grade6 for drums. Sadly I'm no longer safe in 4/4 timing. 7/4 timing amongst others is hunting me down!
6. Best practice amp ever. Just sold mine and I will miss it's simplicity and tone.
7. Alright. I'll post up in the wanted section. Also after a rack tuner but my minds set on a Korg
8. The title gives it away I'm in the market for a rackmount compressor to use for bass. Any recommendations? Looking to spend about £100 at most. Seen a few alesis models that look good but I've no idea to their performance with bass.
9. I just got one of these and I'm very impressed with the tone. Definitely a good buy.
10. Good to see it finally found a home
11. Alright. I sent you a PM back wayne.
12. Anyone else thinking a 2x10 or 4x10? I know someone selling a Hartke Transporter 210 (but it's 8 Ohms)
13. Can't recommend this enough. http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product~name~P...ble~ID~3893.asp Really good quality cable, very sturdy. And it has a circuit break switch on the guitar end so if you use multiple basses there's no need to go and turn off your amp etc. Just press the button swap over and then press it again for instant action And what's more, it's 30ft
14. Worn frets, a bridge with saddles that don't stay in place for long (due to worn screws) and it's hard to tune / keep in tune (possibly because of the bridge). All the problems could be fixed easily but tbh I don't feel anything for this bass so I do wonder about selling it on and combining the earnings with some other money and getting another shiny thing.
15. I highly recommend that Shine as well. They feel great to play on and give a lovely tone. Quite rare to pick up but if you dig around enough you should be able to find one for sale somewhere. I'm not a big fan of the Fender, bought it with high expectations but it doesn't wow me. I'm currently considering whether to try and get it to feel 'just right' but having work done to it or whether to sell it on.
16. After a while picking up various bits I've now finally got a gigworthy set of kit. It might not be the best in the land, but it'll do for me Shine Extreme Series WEB845 Fender Jazz Ashdown MAG210T Deep Ashdown Little Giant 350 Boss ME-50B
Early active Shine basses were often shipped with standard jacks, meaning they sap battery power even when they're unplugged. The first Shine 6er i got had this problem, £15 for a local tech. Check yours for this, i paid for mine to be replaced with a switching jack. The price you pay for completey automated bass building! I think everything but the finishing was automated, even the fretwork!
Well I bought the bass in Feb 09 and have used it since then as my only bass. In January it started becoming a bit intermittent and then it died completely in Feb. It had been going on one battery that whole time and however long the previous owner had it in there.
If the MIM needs a complete fret dress etc and you got it cheap because it needs the work doing, it's going to be less hassle to move it on. If you're going to lose a lot of money by doing that, it might be better to sort out the problems.
It was bought for £200 last month. Paid £30 for it to be restringed and setup etc. The bridge screws are worn so it'll lower itself down after about half an hour of playing. And the frets are rather worn. I'm going to get those photos taken now
