1. Ok thanks for the tips. It's my friend selling it who I've known for years so I do trust him not to pass on some bodged nightmare :) . As for the reason for not fixing, he upgraded and got a musicman and stopped using this. He then stopped playing all together about 3 or 4 years ago now.

As you can see from my signature at the moment I have a shine warrior 5-string. I like the action on it but I'd like to get something better. I'm draw to Fenders and I'd ideally like to get a '59 Jazz but there's a slight problem, money... As such I'm looking at something slightly lower but still with the great Fender sound.

  2. Hi, I'm Alex.

I've been playing bass since the beginning of 2009. I had wanted to play for a while but I ended up with some money and finally got a guitar.

On the other hand, I've been playing drums for about 9 years :) (that's what I'm really good at)

I also operate a small 'recording' studio and I work as a sound engineer part-time.

  3.
A DI box would be best it's just a question of whether the amp would loud enough to monitor yourself over the band.
The other amps are 50W and 60W.

Plus we use stage monitors :)

Also, RE: my other question, is there a Line Output on the amp?

  4. No DI output, hmm.

Am I right in thinking DI could (in theory) be taken from the headphones? It should be alright, just needs to be turned down mixer end

Or split the signal with a stomp box and take the DI with that?

As for type of band, it'd be used in a studio therefore for many genres of music. If I took it live it'd be Rock or light metal. But if the amp is set to 70% and the proper volume comes from the PA I can't see any problems.

Although there might be something I'm missing here.

    Actually,
A front panel CD input means you can play along with pre-recorded backing tracks, while also doubling as a line output for recording situations.
Couldn't I just take a line out then?
