Bloody hell! Things have never been the same since Fender stopped gluing a bit of foam to the inside of the rear ashtray.... £18 seems a bit steep and frankly I think palm muting sounds better, but....

Basslines you don't know why you struggle with
I think I'd need months of practice for that one! Very quick and busy, I can imagine it sounds terrible if you stray off course as well. Fantastic line, I might give it a try.
Easy if you are a pick player though..... -
I couldnt even hear anything but the click of the kick, snare, cymbals and guitar... Pretty much yer normal metal sound I suppose

The pregnant pause in the middle of Elton Johns version of Lucy in the sky with diamonds. I think it was the superbly hand-written manuscript glaring balefully at me, along with every other player in the band at rehearsal.... Now etched indelibly in my brain, but with thirty minutes to showtime...... -
I think they may have read some of my sarcastic posts here and elsewhere and cancelled the order just to piss me off...... Aha! First reverb email only 12 days after I placed the order. The tuner is with DHL in Chicago... *sigh*

So long as they are black and carpeted, what woman would know if your bass rig changed? Ahem! https://www.facebook.com/lee.caveberry this old pal of mine might, I suppose. Her "big rig" is a recently-acquired Little Mark III with a 15" cab. Mind you, it IS yellow in parts......

Saaaaaamhay..... we HATE you! I ordered on the 9th and what do I got? Naff all! Enjoy! (hope it snaps off his headstock and puts at least ONE of his eyeballs out)

Stings tune(s) sounded like he ran out of ideas and sat & listened through the entire Police back catalogue for inspiration. Zzzzzzzzzzz................

Last November our singer was diagnosed with what the docs thought was pancreatic cancer & had his op on dec 20th 2015. Came out of it OK and we thought we would be in maintain mode for two or three months. Found out he had lesions on his lymph glands & he underwent some major chemo and radiation therapy. Looked like a walking corpse. W did a benefit gig for him In late July and he got up and did a couple of songs and seemed like he was doing better. Three weeks later the docs confirmed he was 10)% clear! YAY!! So last night was our first gig back with the regular lineup. Could not have been a better one. A club at one of those caravan and chalet holiday park venues in Northamptonshire, where we played to an absolutely packed house, who really made the night. Up and dancing to the first song, lengthy applause after each and every tune and THREE encore at the end of the night. I was pissed off - knackered and way past my bedtime. A great welcome back gig for Paul. Oh and we were offered 3 gigs for next year on the strength of it. Ker-ching.

This is beginniong to look like one of those "Its only a pound" (but you never receive the goods) scams where if enough people buy the scammer makes off with a tidy walletful leaving the innocent punters high and dry. So - torches and pitchforks at the ready, guys? Reverb offices here we come!
As a general observation I'd say if anyone can't get around on a 5 string bass then they need to work on their technique.
Not hardly. My excuse is severe arthritis in both hands which limits my playing massively even on a 4 string. Plenty of other reasons for not being able to get around on the average five. How are you on upright bass, for example?

Think I better stay out of this one.... -
I am with you with the drive, but if I had to limit it to £100, I wouldn't have done many gigs
Yeah the west country was pretty much dying on its arse gig wise compared to the rest of the country as far back as 2006 when I finally knocked the long distance stuff on the head. Surprising how many little places round here will pay £100 a head for a reasonable band, trio duo or in many cases up to and beyond £200 for a solo if they arfe good and draw a crowd. However if you are playing Blooz, forget it. Strictly in the "up to "200" bracket.

anyone know the possible answer to this?

I bought one of the auralex foam and wood speaker stand thignies for just this reason. Anywhere that has major resonance issues it is usually cured fro me by sticking my cab on the auralex. QUOte: The Auralex® BabyGRAMMA™ v2 Amplifier Isolation platform is a smaller version of our classic GRAMMA™, which is trusted by chart- topping recording artists on-stage and in the studio. The BabyGRAMMA is designed for compact guitar, bass and keyboard amplifiers. • A tighter, more focused low-end • Hear the true sound of your amp, loudspeaker or subwoofer • Instantly improve your sound on-stage or in the studio -
60s and early 70s were the halcyon days. Most of the working bands in my area were doing USAF bases in east anglia and cleaning up.| At the time the base polis were pretty lax about who got to shop in the PX as well, I often made more off the cigars, cigarettes and booze I bought than off the admittedly pretty good money we earnt. Sadly it is all pretty much gone these days. Also used to do a tank proving ground in the West Country a few years back. Always fuN!

At least if this does end up being some sort of scam or failed reverb promo it has incentivised me to seek out another clip on tuna if this one doesnt turn up.....

I made a rule when I "retired" - no more than an hours drive and no less than £100 in my pocket at the end of the night. Works for me, also much easier than when I was touring! As to travelling for rehearsals, I guess it depends on the circumstances. IF it is a decent pro band that earns appropriately why not travel? One band I was in was based in Sheffield & I travelled to Oxfordshire from Cambridge to pick up the keys player before heading out to sheffield for pickup to start each tour.

2 german shepherds travel daily in my gigmobile. Never mind the carpeting on the cabinet, you should see the state the carpeted interior gets in even after vacuuming once a week. I have pretty much given up. House is damn near completely enveloped in dog fur during their 4 times a year major moult.... However my Oreck vacuum does help

Was about to recommend the same version. First saw her do it in the rock and roll exploitation film "The girl cant help it" Actually a great film for quality cameos by several seldom-filmed acts. Sadly Cliff Gallup is NOT in the Gene Vincent & the Bluecaps lineup though.

Wood - how bright are those little led par cans? What sort of flood angle?

Here`s a thought: An Old Bloke once told me to learn my instrument to the point where if I could sing it, I could play it. Fabulous, golden words. I have tried to live up to the advice and have to say it has made learning bass lines (at least the memorable ones like wot are being bandied about here) MUCH easier. I was just thinking about "I want You Back" and had the actual bass line playing in my head without even realising I had heard it often enough to "know" it. I am now tempted to see if I CAN still "just play" it. Naah.... Bugger - just googled "I want you back key signature" and got Ab! I would have sworn it would be in A.....
