Don't worry about it... think of it as a #9 rather than a minor third. Think of the "Hendrix chord"... E7#9. You could write a PhD thesis on the use of blue notes, the use of b5 and #9 alt7 dominants to add tension, the #9/b3 ambiguity as a vehicle to imply emotion, etc. and probably trace its history back to field hollers and work songs, but blues isn't something that particularly benefits from over-analysis.

I've read that Indian Sunn Mustangs are Black Limba/Korina. Don't know how true that is, but it would account for the weight.

[/quote] A photo might help, but you may not manage to pin it down to a specific model... not many people would have paid enough attention to them to be able to remember details like that. They were a budget range sold in Argos... not the sort of thing that people get that enthusiastic about. That's not to say it's a bad instrument. In any case you're not going to get much for it. £20 to £40 is a reasonable price, depending on condition. You might get more if there's a case or an amp included. It might be worth advertising it for £50 on the for sale boards at your local supermaket.

[/quote] I used to use my Boss pedal in front of a Marshall MG series amp... it made a sh*t amp sound really, really good. It probably didn't sound exactly like a Fender deluxe. You obviously want to start with a fairly neutral tone. I was trying to get rid of amps all together and DI it... didn't quite get it right.

Does it do the same/similar as this little fella? I had the 65 deluxe reverb version and it was a fantastic pedal

Fender bought Sunn in 1987 and discontinued the instruments within a few years, probably due to the fact they already had a line at the same price point (Squier Affinity). I've played a couple of them... weren't horrendous... a good project bass perhaps.

Your idea is great, although I would modify the approach to picking songs a bit... Maybe look at the top ten for every week for a few years (the late 80s were crap) and pick one or two songs from each week that you'd like to play live. The list you put up has some good stuff, but it's a bit diffuse in terms of style.
