So this turned up this morning, shortly before work so no time to properly play it yet! Very rough photo, fails to demonstrate the beauty and quality of the pearl pickguard and birdseye maple fingerboard, but I'll get a better one up at some point... First impressions are fantastic though, big rehearsals over the weekend so I'll get to properly try it out. Can't wait!

The basic colours for the 62 AVRI were black, sunburst and olympic white I believe. I've got a special edition one in dakota red though, and I believe they also did special editions in candy apple red, ice blue metallic and lake placid blue at various points...You'll probably find one of those second hand if you keep your eye out, though they may be a bit more expensive now they're discontinued.

Digitech Whammy WH-1 (original) Most people will know what this does. The original and best sounding whammy! Works great on bass, with a very warm sound and IVL Technology that no-one (including Digitech/Harman) has been able to reproduce... Very well looked after, in great cosmetic condition. Velcro on base, which can be removed by request. Fully functioning, and will come with replacement 9V AC adaptor. Also, if you're a g**tarist after that Gilmour or Morello sound, nothing will get you closer! £175 including shipping [s]True Bypass Looper I bought this off andydye last year, and it I have literally never used it! Passive operation, a very simple fx loop, power is only required for the led.[/s] SOLD [s]Neunaber Wet Mono Reverb Incredible Reverb pedal! Only selling as I'm changing to the Stereo version for the studio. Has only seen indoor use, so it's still minty with box, etc. Great demo on bass here (watch from 2:07 onwards for the really good stuff )[/s] SOLD [s]Idiotbox Blower Box Fantastic Rat clone (and Fuzzrocious Rat Tail killer!), see what people are saying about it over on Talkbass here. This has never left the house, only very light use, and comes complete with box, sticker, etc.[/s] SOLD

How do you get that 80s DX7 synth sound with effects?
bakerster135 replied to Clarky72's topic in Effects
I'm pretty sure the Markbass Super Synth can do a DX7-esque sound. The Akai Deep Impact is about the best for this I reckon, if you can find one second hand, but they're expensive! -
Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

The latest...Have to say that the stacked COG TK-421/Blower Box combo is the BEST distorted sound I've ever had! -
Unless it's a COG TK-421, Idiotbox Blower Box or Fuzzrocious Rat Tail, forget about it. Why have a RAT and a blender/LS-2 when you can have everything you need in one pedal, with no low-end loss, for less money!?...

NBD - Limelight Jazz Bass 1960 YOB *Spitfire Guard!*
bakerster135 replied to discreet's topic in Bass Guitars
This sounds beeeeeeeautiful! Exactly how a classic Jazz should sound, and perfect in a soul funk setting too. Growley! :-) -
And 14 pages later........
I say lock the thread!...I was very harsh earlier and I regret it and apologise :-s There are clearly fundamental differences in opinion on the matter though, and it's likely to go round in circles. I don't think either "side" in this debate will ever really empathise with the other or come round to their point of view! ...

I'm not completely sure how different it would be with the buyer applying a F****r decal, rather than the builder. Considering the majority of Mark's orders are custom builds anyway and not advertised on the site, they would surely be under the radar?...
And I think somebody kicked off a controversial subject, with their own agenda.
Definitely this. Especially annoying when somebody pretends they had the interests of the builder in mind all along, when in reality they've been stirring s**t for no conceivable reason.
What point am I missing exactly? Please clarify.
I would say the main point, by focusing on that detail. It's about the quality and sound of the instrument. Mark's blatantly not trying to make standard or cheap copies of old Fenders, just quality, hand-made instruments that allow people to have the sound and feel of a vintage bass, without risking losing something with value equivalent to a small house every time they take it to a gig!...The fact that the Fender decal is on the head stock is neither here nor there, and to the vast majority of people it won't mean a thing. It definitely contributes to the look but it's the sound of these things that matters, and that's one of the main reasons why people here are buying them! And sorry everyone else, I'm leaving it there! Discreet and WoT, your basses are beautiful, and I am incredibly envious!
Apart from the Fender decal on the headstock!
You're missing the point.
Don't get me wrong - I'm not particularly bothered
Why bring it up then?
