Sorry, we're talking about this one that Eldon has bought, not the matte one Dov65 went for

Phew! Thank you...I was properly uhmming and ahing over that one and it would've got me in right shiz! 😆

@Eldon Tyrell That's a beauty! A US NS4, yes? Realise you might not even have it yet, but I'd be interested to know how the sound differs to the NS2 P/J pickup configuration? Where did you get it, out of interest? I've been scouring the UK shops for the last few months for a US NS2/4, and no one seems to have them at the moment...

I used to have a black Kramer-era NS2 about 15 years ago, which had the Haz preamp and EMGs and sounded amazing - absolutely cracking bass which I severely regret selling, but I was young and stupid and needed rent money... I also had a 2001 all-maple Euro NS4 CRFM, with the Aguilar OBP-1 preamp and EMGs (sold to Aero71 of this forum, and which I also throughly regret selling...). Despite there being a few years between ownership, I have to say that the Euro felt and sounded, acoustically, VERY similar to the Kramer NS2. If anything, the Euro was possibly a bit more lively acoustically. I only really noticed a difference when I listened to recordings of the each bass - the bottom end was very close, but the Euro had a very clean, sweet and glassy top end, whereas the Kramer had this lovely growly, grindy top end which cut right through the guitarists' full-gain Marshall JCMs! This video, though not the greatest playing-wise, demonstrates that tone pretty well. I really believe that HAZ preamp is a big part of that US NS2 sound and that one of those inserted into a 90s/00s Euro bass would get you there for a lot less money, provided you can source one of course!

Good call! This has been one of my practice tracks for some time, prime Pegg! A good workout and needs some stamina to get through all four sections...

I've been using mine for 10 years and still use it with my Jazz Basses! Amazing transparent and natural-sounding little box and the batteries last forever! It's gone head to head with the Sadowsky preamp and this won out, for me. Slightly deeper frequency on the bass but somehow tighter sounding, and sweeter and less brittle sounding treble. GLWTS!

Definitely Dunlop Super Bright Nickels, or Dr Sunbeams. Both very soft feel, but I would argue as bright sounding if not a little less harsh sounding than the Rotos. I made the change myself and wouldn't dream of going back... Verrrrry similar tension and feel-wise. The DRs are almost twice the price but, for me, they last much longer and intonate much better (they're probably a bit better made). Compared to steels, nickels will also save you having to get a refret in the near future too, so there's an additional saving!

It's with great sadness that I've decided to sell this fantastic 1965 Jazz bass, refinished in Olympic White by Joseph Kaye Guitars. I'm looking for £4000 for the bass. Ideally, buyer to collect from London NW3, but happy to package for courier collection if buyer arranges. Unfortunately, I will not ship outside of the UK at present. Trade-wise, I'm interested in Wal, US Lakland, US Spector, nice precision-type basses, or those basses that start with R which no-one mentions around here... Hopefully the photos will demonstrate its beauty, but the low-down on what's non-original/original below: Non-original Olympic white nitro body and headstock refinish, nicely checked with mild relicing Reproduction headstock decal Replacement bone nut Refret - frets are in great shape! A couple of screws here and there... Original Body Neck Tuners Bridge Pots, dating to 1965 Grey bottom pickups with original winds Tort guard with some repairs to cracks, highlighted in photos below Pickup covers/ashtrays Everything else that I've failed to remember/mention! Also comes with a slightly battered but fully-functional case, which I believe is by Hagstrom, as the bass was imported from Sweden at some point. Sounds absolutely killer! Really acoustically loud, and strong, thick, balanced amplified sound with a beautiful tone. Will confirm on weight asap, but it's very light, i.e. less than 4kg. Any other questions, just ask!

Fender Custom Shop Phil Lynott P Bass - mental price

Guy's clearly never heard of Thin Lizzy. For one, they're not called "Thin Lizzie", and for two, there's definitely not a lot of buzz around them at the moment! 😂 -

FS Fender Jazz bass 1973/1974-on hold
bakerster135 replied to wombatboter's topic in Basses For Sale
My understanding is that Fender didn't start using the three-bolt on Jazz Basses until 74, but some of the early ones had old Telecaster Bass neck plates with 72 serial numbers? I've seen a lot of 70s JBs and never ever seen a black block neck/three-bolt combo! Could be totally wrong though, many strange things happened during the CBS period 😉... -
I've been using DR Sunbeams for a while now and, despite the price, I really think they retain the new string zing for the longest time. They're really balanced and soft on the fingers, vs Dunlop super brights, EB slinkys, daddario nickels, etc. in my experience
