1. Mmmmm, this is right up my alley...Are you up for trades? Anything specific in mind if so?
2. They sound great when you really dig in, especially on (w)hole notes
3. Is the decal going to be easily removable, i.e. Is it just a waterslide on the surface, or has it been lacquered over?
4. noun

the lowest adult male singing voice.
denoting the member of a family of instruments that is the lowest in pitch
5. Don't normally like natural finishes, but that's lovely! Beautiful piece of wood
6. Sounds a bit smooth on that video, I assume it's capable of that Geddy-esque growl and clank that we all know and (some of us) love!?
7. I use the Bass Whammy after my Sub Phatty to do this kind of thing, and it works great! Definitely octave pedals BEFORE the Whammy. I find the Whammy doesn't sound cheesy at all if it's fed more of a gritty signal. You may have been given that impression by all the guys on YouTube, doing w***y slap on a Warwick through the octave up setting?
8. Sold Graeme my Nordstrand NJ4 pickups. The whole thing was agreed and paid for within about five minutes, and his communication was very prompt and friendly. Pleasure dealing with you Graeme, enjoy the Nordies!
9.
Shame those nj4's weren't the 70's winds,as I'm after a set 😀
Yeah, they're not really close unfortunately...If you aren't already aware, Bass Direct have the 70s wind in stock!
10. Fender American Vintage 70s Jazz Bass Bridge added!
11. Fender American Vintage 60s Jazz Bass Bridge (BBOT) Official Fender, brand new. In chrome with fittings. £25 inc. postage Fender USA Original Jazz Bass Pickup Set - SOLD PENDING Great sounding pickups, as used by Fender in their American Vintage Reissue 1962 Jazz Basses (NOT as used in the current AVRI 1964 Jazz Basses). The plastic covers are a bit scratched, so I'll include a pair of brand new covers in the sale (as pictured below). Will add better pictures of the pickups themselves asap... £55 inc. postage - SOLD PENDING CruzTools GrooveTech Cheater Driver (for vintage Fender truss rod) - SOLD Great little screwdriver which allows you to make body-end truss rod adjustments on vintage Fenders without having to take the neck off! more info here. £5 inc. postage - SOLD Fender American Vintage 70s Jazz Bass Bridge Bought to put in a bitsa, made in USA and as new. Touch of very mild Loctite was added to each saddle height screw, to prevent movement, but each screw is still fully adjustable! £15 inc. postage Nordstrand NJ4 Pickups (60s Wind) SOLD Pair of Nordstrand NJ4 Pickups, with the 60s wind. Pretty much mint condition, with box. Bought these off here a few months back to put in a bitsa, which I subsequently sold, so now surplus to requirements. £100 Inc. Postage - SOLD
12. Pretty sure Mark King uses, and helped to develop, the Rotosound 30-50-70-90 Funkmaster set.
13. Tarkin and Knightfall in one box mate, only way.
14. 1991 Red Hot Chili Peppers give it away - actually it's believed Flea recorded this on a Wal MK1, used for the majority of BSSM (see here). You could use Aeroplane in 1996 though, apparently that's a Stingray.
15.
What makes its tone so different from that of a regular 70s jazz bass with vintage wound pups?
Two main differences from a 70s style Jazz Bass: - Pickups are early/mid 60s voiced (using formvar wire), rather than the more aggressive late 60s/70s (enamel wire) - It has 60s pickup positioning. In 1970 Fender moved the bridge pickup 1/ 4" closer to the bridge, which changed the sound slightly in favour of the high end.
16. This used to be mine! It is an AWESOME sounding bass. Tempted to buy it back Marinus ;-)
17. Is this still available? I don't intend to buy it, just curious.
18. Has the headstock been refinished, and is that a replacement decal if so?
