1. Up for sale is my Hofner Contemporary Series Club bass in excellent condition. Fitted with Labella Hofner Beatle Bass strings (original roundwounds included). I have removed the pickguard as I prefer it without, but it will be included in the sale and is easy to refit. Plays and sounds great. Comes with Hofner hard case. £350 delivered.
2. 2016 Fender Japan Mustang bass in excellent condition. Fitted with Labella Flats made specially for these basses (I think I still have the original roundwounds too). Comes with a Fender gig bag. Only selling as I have a sunburst one too. £550. Collection from north Suffolk preferred but could post.
3. Finally decided to sell my Bluetone Pro30m combo after realising I haven't turned it on for months. I play bass and acoustic mainly nowadays, so never get around to using it unfortunately. I love this amp, it does an amazing 60/70s Marshall tone in a home friendly format. It also can get loud enough to gig. I'm a big Paul Kossoff fan and this amp gets me his sound. It will be missed but I'm trying to thin down stuff that's not getting used. £275 collected from north Suffolk. I have a suitable box so could post.
4. Selling my Kala Ubass as I'm not using it much. It's the spruce version, and is fretted. It has the old style pickup without the onboard preamp. In good condition and plays great. At some point the screw from the G tuner has been misplaced and a slightly smaller screw is in its place. Comes with gig bag. I bought this with the intention of taking it to open mics/busks but tend to take my Mustang to these. £210 ono delivered.
5.
Is this a bass version of the amp? I've seen an acoustic guitar PJ Cub, but not a bass version
It's the acoustic guitar version.
6. National Resophonic M14 from 2014 and in excellent condition, with original hard case. There are a few small marks on the headstock, but otherwise nothing of note. I have had a strap peg fitted on the neck and had the nut lowered to suit my style. It plays great for fingerstyle and slide. Currently fitted with Newtone Michael Messer nickel 12-56 strings. £1,200. Would possibly be interested in a lower value resonator/archtop and cash. I have a box so can post. Cheers. 7. Selling a Phil Jones AAD acoustic Cub in excellent condition. Comes with carry bag. Incredible sounding small and light weight acoustic amp. Perfect to use as a stage monitor whilst using the DI to the desk. £125
8. Comes with an Orange amp cover that fits perfectly. I'm a big Paul Kossoff fan and this amp gets me his sound. It will be missed but I'm trying to thin down stuff that's not getting used. £150 collected from north Suffolk.
9. Already got sunburst and white Japanese Mustangs but seriously tempted by this!
10. That's good to hear! You're not too far from me. Who did you get to set up your bass?
11. After a few weeks learning with the original strings it seems I actually like slapping as well so I've ordered some Innovation Silver Slaps. Hopefully I can get them fitted next week and the bass set up. I've also released that double bass is pretty addictive!
12. Thanks for the advice, really appreciate it. I think I'll get some Silver Slaps and go from there.
13. I have a new set of Labella 760FL 43-104 short scale strings that I no longer need. Completely unused and as new. £35 posted.
14.
I would reckon you have Dominant E & A and Superflexible D & G
Thanks for the info. After a bit more playing I'm slowly getting used to them. I haven't played another double bass so have no reference of what low/high tension feels like on an upright.
15.
What do the ball ends look like?
Any help: https://i.imgur.com/lBGVHfj.jpg
16. Thanks for the great replies Marc. I guess the first thing to do is work out which strings are currently on it. Any idea what these may be: https://i.imgur.com/ICPJzhN.jpg https://i.imgur.com/tOoBYKq.jpg
17.
Bilbo lives in Lowestoft, I believe. He's a jazz DB player. If you don't get any answers here. I'm sure he'll be pleased to point you in the right direction
Thanks.
I have Silver Slaps with medium action, and they work well for the musical styles you mention. The low tension makes them quite easy to play (compared to steels).
That's good to hear, thanks.
18. I'm looking to get my newly acquired (second-hand) double bass set up with some new strings to try and help with learning the instrument. I'm an absolute beginner and not really sure what would be best. I have found a local guy who sets up double basses and am now trying to decide on what strings would be best for me and how to ask for it to be set up. Currently the strings seem fairly high in tension and the action quite high. I'm hoping to play blues, bluegrass and jazz pizzicato, and would appreciate any advice on a good starting string/setup for this. I've done a bit of searching on here and Innovation Silver Slaps have caught my eye. They seem like a good string for my style, but I'm not sure if they are good for a low action. Is a low action even a good idea??? I would appreciate any guidance from experienced players. Cheers.
19. Tech 21 VT DI in excellent condition, with box and instructions. £150.
