1. Thanks for the weight. Project is eyes only lol! A flight of fancy that may never see the light of day but you never know. Half the fun is thinking about it
2. Thanks and good to know that you sometimes venture this way. I like that this is 32" but it would require a bit of modding for what I have in mind. Let me have a think.
3. What does it weigh please and can you post a pic of the back showing the neck heel? (I'm interested in mod potential for something I have in mind). Thanks
4. Looks like toast to me. I'd contact Ibanez and see if they can supply replacement saddle - http://www2.ibanez.com/contact/
5. If the piezo saddles are anything like those on my Hipshot piezo bridge then I think you'll need a new saddle. Can you post a pic?
6. I made a cardboard sunshield for my PitchBlack but it didn't make any difference! I also have a Poytune clip-on in which is a bit better in sunlight but still not particularly easy to see. I wish I'd kept my old Boss TU-12 with the Vu type needle meter for sunny outdoor gigs.
7. With a lined fretless, personally I find having the dots in the 'usual' position feels more natural and makes switching between fretted and fretless easier. Removing frets and adding lines is entirely doable by a good luthier. No need to replace the fingerboard unless you want an unlined neck (in which case you will want the dots on the fret positions as mybass says).
8. I have a Dbx 160A permanently plumbed into my rig. I have it set to give a gentle 2:1 squeeze with a fairly high threshold just to subtly smooth transients out like Highfox. I've tried several pedals in the past but they all seemed to suck the life out of my sound. I like the Dbx because it's amazingly transparent and doesn't colour the sound at all. Once it's set you just forget it's there.

Just sold my ACG EQ01 preamp to Dave. Top chap to deal with, good comms and prompt payment. Many thanks Dave and enjoy exploring the endless tones of the filter pre! Cheers, Ian
10. An amazingly versatile preamp which offers a massive range of tones from earth shaking dub to midrange punch and crystal highs. This is the 4-knob version which has a stacked vol/blend two LPF filters (one for each pickup), and one HPF filter for adjusting highs. Each filter has a stacked control for selecting the filter cut-off frequency and adjusting the 'overshoot' (resonant peak). The LPF filters can fundamentally change the tonal characteristics of each pickup. Being able to set different characteristics for each pickup and then variably blend them together creates a huge tonal palette. The HPF filter allows for fine tuning of high frequency content across both pickups. Full details of the EQ01 features and functions plus installation instructions can be found on the ACG website here - http://www.acguitars...filter-pre-amp/ This preamp came (new) with my ACG Recurve fretless (#0067) which has a single humbucker and a piezo bridge. I used it for several years to great effect but, after a lot of experimenting, I eventually swapped it out for an East SPM-01 modular preamp with an MPM02 buffer which I found worked better with the piezo (the piezo doesn't respond to filtering in the same way as a mag pickup). I've also played an ACG with an EQ01 and two mag pickups and it is mighty. Comes with the original matching set of 4 black stacked control knobs. Requires 9v battery power (battery clip and jack socket not provided). Price is £100 which includes UK delivery. Any questions please ask. Thanks for looking! Just sold my Boss Chorus to Andy, all good and a very pleasant chap to deal with, many thanks!
12. If you have a multimeter it's easy enough to check that the pot is working. I'd do that first. If the pot's OK then at least you can isolate the problem to the preamp end.
13. As you say, the bridge earth usually connects to the output jack earth/shield lug so that's where I'd put it. All other earth connections will also ultimately end up connecting to the output jack earth, usually by daisy chaining or a single 'star' earth point.

Just sold my Bergantino cab to Dave. A gentleman and a genuine pleasure to deal with as always. Hope it works well for you Dave, when you've got it hooked up with your other Berg I'll be able to hear you from here! Cheers, Ian
15. Still avaliable
16. Bump for a superb compact cab
17. Boss CEB-3 Chorus pedal in very clean condition. Great little pedal but no longer needed for my current bands and projects. Manufacturer details below. "The BOSS CEB-3 Bass Chorus gives you all the great BOSS chorus sounds you'd expect but in a package specially designed for bass players. The low filter knob on the CEB-3 allows you to add chorus to the higher register without muddying lower bass notes. Adjusting the level, rate and depth of the CEB-3 means you can do anything from add a little sparkle to your bass lines to blasting out a bombastic 80's sound! What's more, the CEB-3 comes in the great compact and sturdy BOSS stomp-box style that we've all come to know and love." Specifications: • Nominal Input Level: -20 dBu • Input Impedance: 1 M ohms • Nominal Output Level: -20 dBu • Output Impedance: 1 k ohms • Recommended Load Impedance: 10 k ohms or greater • Residual Noise Level: -86 dBu (IHF-A, Typ.) • Connectors - INPUT: Jack - OUTPUT: Jack A (mono)/ B - AC Adaptor: Jack (DC 9 V) (not supplied) Price £40 which includes UK postage. I don't have the orignal box but it will be well packed. 18. Bear in mind that if you lower the action you may need to tweak your intonation again! Ideally you should have got your luthier to set the action at the same time he did the intonation.
19. Adding a vol pot for the J pickup will subtly alter the sound of the solo'd P pickup (it changes the pickup loading). Using a switch would avoid this. If you don't need the in-between blended sounds then I'd go for a switch.
20. Entirely possible but the two side of the pickup will then be wired in parallel rather than series which will sound different to a regular P (more polite, less grunt). Have you tried tweaking the EQ at your amp end to get a better balance?
