1. Thanks Pete1967. Royal Mail always sting me for an £8 'handling fee' when I buy small items like this from the US, but I can't find any over here so may have to bite the bullet. Cheers
2. I've checked the usual places (Allparts, Axesrus, CH, ebay etc) but having difficulty finding one of these with a centre detent. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
3. Thanks for checking the weight
4. Can you get a more accurate weight?
5. Just bought a Samson L1200 mixing desk from Chris. Easy transaction, arrived well packed and in great condition. A solid and reliable BCer, pleasure to do business with. Many thanks! Ian
6. Bought an AKG D5 mic from Mike, very straightforward transaction, quick delivery and mic in excellent condition (boxed and like new). Many thanks Mike. Ian
7.
I've done my best to make a video. This was recorded on my iPhone as I do not have any recording equipment.
Sounds great, full bodied and articulate at the same time. A rather unique P-Ray sort of sound! Thanks for doing that.
8. Nice. I'd be interested to hear how this sounds with the MM pickup in the P position, can you post some sound clips?
9. Aha, looks like they're both the longer bridge size then. Cheers
10. Hi Laurence, this might sound like an odd question but can you please let me know the pickup dimensions as indicated in the pic below? I believe that both pickups on the JB-2 are the same size whereas on a regular Jazz the bridge pup is slightly longer than the neck pup. Reason for asking is to do with fitting replacement pickups which will be different sizes. The dimensions will help to determine which replacements would fit. 11. I know nothing about bows but found this article interesting - http://stringsmagazine.com/a-guide-to-buying-a-bow/
12. Thanks Dave, hmm I'll give that option some thought but to be honest would prefer a finished neck. Drilling the tuner holes might exceed my woodworking skills! Ian
13. Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I'd be interested to know as well. Apart from Warmoth, are there any other aftermarket suppliers of 32" necks or is a custom job the only way?
14. BestBassGear - http://www.bestbassgear.com/emg-pickup-cable-solderless-9-inch-long.htm I think they ship to the UK.
15. That's very light for a fiver! OK thanks, will give it some more thought. Where are you located?
16. This thread is to do with replacing a blend pot in a BBNE1 - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/268623-yamaha-bbne1-schematic/. Might be worth contacting the OP to see if they can advise on where to get the correct replacement from. If not, the Yamaha support will usually be able to get the part for you - https://uk.yamaha.com/en/support/.
17. Lots of hum-cancelling J pickups out there to choose from - Seymour Duncan, Nordstrand, Fralin and others. I've got SD Area Js in my JB-62M and they sound very close to vintage single coils. Adding shielding to the pickup and control cavities can help to reduce hum (I use graphite paint which is easier to apply than copper foil). Preamp may add hiss but unlikely to add hum unless something is wrong with it (eg. a grounding issue).

G&L Kiloton
it's like a version of an MM Sterling ... and the pick up's in exactly the right position from what I can see
The pickup position on the Kiloton looks to be exactly the same as the L1500 which is 1cm closer to the bridge than a Stingray/Sterling. I guess Leo slightly adjusted his view of the 'sweetspot' during the G&L days.
The SB shape and resulting lighter weight should be a big +
Ah OK, I'd missed the bit about the SB body
20. Yamaha TRB5P is 23 5/8" according to here - http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Yamaha_TRB_5P.html. My early series TRB5 also has a similarly flat radius.

G&L Kiloton
I love the passive sounds from my L1500 and can hear the same here.
Apart from the addition of a single coil mode and the passive tone control, how does the Kiloton differ from an L1500 in passive mode? The pickup looks to be in exactly the same position so surely it's pretty much an L1500 without a preamp. Is it really different enough to be a new model or just a slick bit of marketing? Having said that, I love how it sounds and want one!
22. Aha, thanks that worked. It certainly has the Pino sound, lovely playing
