1. What is the overall external length measurement please (Mono specs only give internal dimensions). Thanks
2. That's pretty impressive, lighter than I expected with the steel backplate and larger cog. Thanks
3. I just emailed David Holmes with a link to this discussion and suggested he join Basschat and explain a bit. So he may be along in a bit
4. Thanks for all the interest and now sold.
5. I contacted Allparts who sorted me out. Details below in case anyone else is interested. Fender American hex nut: Thread 10-32 Length 24mm Diameter 9.5mm Essentially the same spec as the cross head nut but 2mm longer so may protrude a bit..
6. I emailed them re battery life and got this reply: The battery life is around 18hrs of continuous play. The low battery indicator will give you a 2hr of battery life warning. The signal will not degrade as the battery life dies. Yes the unit will switch off once battery is flat. We are also working on a LightLead that doesn’t use batteries. Wonder how the battery-less version works?
7. Not really haha but thanks anyway! I've just googled and a standard Schaller BM weighs 98gm so with the aluminium post I guess these will come in somewhere around 75-80gm. There, I've answered my own question!
8. Hmm, you may well right but this page here says 1/8" - http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/guitar-bass-parts/string-guides-nuts/truss-rod-nut-18-american-series-guitars/ It wouldn't be the first time Fender got it wrong! The critical specs for me though are the length, diameter and thread size.
9. Does anyone know if a Fender American hex trussrod nut (like this - http://www.cdguitars...43000-379-p.asp) can be used as a direct replacement for a vintage Fender cross-head nut? The cross-head nut is 7/8" long, 3/8 diameter and has a 10-32 thread but I can't find equivalent specs for the Fender USA hex nut (only that it uses a 1/8" hex wrench). Thanks for any input!
10. Very nice indeed! I had a BB2000 for a while and really like the reverse P on these models.
11. Ah, a fellow 12+ bass owner, I wonder how many more of us there are out there! I love all of mine as well, including this one. Maybe I should just buy a bigger house!
12.
Clearly this is the case with a blend pot. Any idea if the same applies with a three-way switch? I've never been quite sure...
Adding a 3-way DPDT switch to select P - PJ - J before the existing vol/tone controls would work. In the P position the J would be entirely out of circuit and there'd be no additional pot to affect the pickup loading. Yamaha do this with a lot of their P/Js (BB series etc). With a well matched set of pickups this can work really well.
13. ..."Will I lose any of my basses current tone if I simply add J pup at the bridge?" Adding a vol pot and J pickup to the circuit will change the impedance/loading on the P pickup and the soloed P will sound slightly different. Quite subtle but it won;t be exactly the same.
14. Le bump - as they say in French maternity hospitals
15. Mmm, they'd make a lovely pair, I really think you should!

WITHDRAWN

Sorry to be the one to ask but what does it weigh please? Also what's the overall length? They look huge (and I'm small!) but I can't find any pics showing side by side comparison with a regular bass like a J or P. Thanks
18. Thanks sbrag and yes, lush indeed! A quality vintage bass for budget bass money. Bonkers really! BTW it's always good to have a spare ...
19. Give in to temptation, resistance is futile...

Feedback for Les

Just sold a Hipshot Xtender to Les. A pleasure to deal with, good comms, quick payment. Cheers!
21. Lovely old BB1100s from 1985 (serial LNILxxx), made in Japan. This is a particularly nice example, it's all original, cosmetically very clean, everything working as it should and a shoulder friendly weight of 8lbs 10oz (3.9kg). After 30+ years there are inevitably a few minor scuffs and knocks to the finish but hard to pick up in the pics. The back of the neck is super clean. There are a few minor dings on the top of the headstock. Fit and finish is excellent as you would expect of an MIJ instrument of this era (or any era!). Photo album here - http://s1090.photobu...amaha%20BB1100s Neck is straight and true, truss rod working as it should. Frets are in excellent condition having recently been dressed and still have plenty of life left in them. Currently strung with nickel rounds (40/60/80/100) and set up with minimal neck relief and a medium/low string height of 5/64 (2mm) at 12th fret on the G and 6/64 (2.4mm) on the E. Plays cleanly all the way up the neck with no discernible dead spots. Tuners are original, all operate smoothly with no play and hold tune well. Controls are: 3-way pickup selector (neck/both/bridge), passive vol/tone, active/passive switch, bass/mid/treble. All operate smoothly and as they should. When switching from passive to active it can 'pop' as the switch also completes the battery circuit (just the way they were wired). Easy way to avoid this is to turn down the volume when switching. The EQ is very well voiced and really brings the bass to life adding depth, body and sparkle to the natural character of the bass. I mainly use it in a soul/funk/disco/pop covers band but equally suitable for rock and other genres. All in all a very fine bass. A lot of bass for the money as they say! Price is £350 delivered (UK only). Will be shipped in a slightly beat up SKB Freedom ABS case. One of the hinges has taken a knock so one corner of the lid is out of alignment and needs to be pusheed into place (best done with case flat). When lid is closed all is secure so fine for shipping and storage but not really for everyday use. No trades I'm afraid. This sale is part of a GAS rehabilitation program, I have 12 basses and need to try and at least get that down to single figures! Any questions just ask. Thanks for looking!
22. Just sold my Squier Matt Freeman to Craig. A true gent and a pleasure to deal with. Good comms and very smooth transaction. Thanks Craig and hope you enjoy the bass! Ian
23. Thanks for comments and PMs, the bass is now sold.
