It's still there, and seems to get more bonkers every time you drive through it.

Birmingham's a fantastic city, but the locals like to keep the rest of us thinking it's still a dystopian soviet hellscape to stop people moving there from London and ruining it 🙂

Tonight: The Rifleman's Arms in Droitwich. Four piece HEAVY rock band with one and a half rehearsals. The guitarist's 4x12 Blackstar (?) stack was louder than a Supernova, the drummer was a metalhead with a double kick pedal who played everything at 200mph. It was SO loud, I couldn't hear my BVs, my VTDI (set to Ampeg SVT on steroids) through my Big Boy amp (Markbass CMD121P) was roaring away at the back somewhere. No setlist, seat of my pants and skin of my teeth. EBMM Sterling, Rock 8th notes all night, I got blisters, tinnitus and a headache. Dynamics: LOUD. Nuance: none. The audience were animals, shouts for Slayer, Megadeath, Cannibal Corpse (!) and Napalm Death. It was BRILLIANT.

My Bass gigbag is a Protec Contego, which is a lovely bit of kit https://www.thomann.de/gb/protec_contego_bass_case_ctg_233.htm My bits bag is a Gator GK2110, which is still going strong after about 15 years heavy use. https://www.thomann.de/gb/gator_gk2110_multieffect_bag.htm Room for everything you need, and lots of stuff you don't. Other retailers are available.

How to wire Jazz bass with series/Parallel switch.
StingRayBoy42 replied to RikiB's topic in Repairs and Technical
@KiOgon makes pre-wired looms with S/P option which are excellent by all accounts. -

I like my Markbass 802. Sounds lovely even at neighbour-friendly volume, handles a 5 string, good with Double Bass, loud enough to gig with a 20 piece big band. I like 'em!

Beautiful Bass with a great back story. Lovely to know it's still being gigged after 50 odd years, hope you get another 50+ years out of it! -
Flippin eck, that is gorgeous, congratulations. You can keep your case queens, I love the look of a *properly* battered Bass - if that wood could talk!

Do you know why Bagpipers march while they play? To get away from the sodding noise.

Mine's really boring compared to some of you lunatics 😀 but it is almost a song. Five Mono Betty straps all with EB straplocks, Four Hiscox Cases, Two Boss TU-2s, Two EHX Bass Soul Foods... And a partridge in a pear tree. I'm tempted to get another TU-2 to make it work properly...

Those string windings will haunt my OCD nightmares, and as for the saddle screw.... *shudder* Anyone got any eye bleach?

I heard a PROPER rock band rehearsing recently - I could hear them from the kitchen. Absolutely smashing Guns & Roses, Ramones, Stooges sort of stuff and (I think) a couple of originals. I posted on the local fb group saying how good they sounded (and a request for some led zep), turns ott they're all 14-16 years old. Got loads of replies saying how good it was to hear young 'uns rocking out, and people asking when they were gigging next. There is hope for the future!

Tonight: Ten minutes from home, round of drinks on the house, one set, massive PA provided, dep singer/guitar smashed it, I sang lead on one, done by 8 o'clock and paid in cash. Today was a good day.
