  1. The Hot Club of Cowtown - Continental Stomp. INCREDIBLE upright Bass playing by Jake Erwin. Before that, it was John Martyn- Solid Air (Danny Thompson on Bass of course) Before that, Elvis Costello Best of (Bruce Thomas?) Pump it up!
  2. Hiscox. There's plenty of stories of them dropping from great heights and bouncing down motorways with no damage to the contents.
  3. I thought it was a pretty transparent attempt at humour... 😀
  4. Where do I start?! I love the way it looks - similar enough to a Preccy/Jazz to be an instant classic, but the funny shaped scratchplate, smiley eq plate, 3+1 tuners on that cute little headstock, and a bridge that would make Isambard Kingdom Brunel blush... you just know it's something special. I wanted one from the minute I saw one. The way it plays... the pickup is in *just* the right place to rest your thumb, and the neck is absolutely perfect... narrow enough to get your fingers round, but wide enough to give it that 'heft' that makes it feel like a seriously solid instrument. And then there's the sound! Punchy enough to poke holes in the walls, never mind cut through a mix, and the three band EQ gives you an incredible range of sounds- cut-glass highs, in-your-face mids, and the Bass control gives you the Biggest of Big Bottom.... TL;DR - I like my StingRay.
  5. I bought a Helicon case from Poland - it took ages (maybe about three weeks?) to arrive, due to the Ukraine situation, Brexit and covid. The further good news is that when it arrives, you'll probably have to pay VAT, import taxes, window tax etc etc etc Sorry, this probably isn't what you wanted to hear!
  6. TOP little amp. Loud enough to keep up with a (sensible) drummer, and sounds great with Double Bass as well. GLWTS
  7. Any chance you could share the image file?!
  8. '94 StingRay all day long. Had mine for just short of thirty years (!) and I still grin every time I look at it. An absolute joy to play, sounds great for any style of music, built like a tank, looks to die for... nothing else comes close for me.
  9. I had Steve (the feller in Brum recommended on the amp tech thread) look at it. He couldn't get it to go wrong despite having it running for a full day (!) so he replaced/cleaned/reseated/resoldered everything that could have been causing it. I'll find out if it worked at the gig on Sunday.
  10. Aphex Aural xCiter with Big Bottom Now £20 Stop sniggering. Seems to not work properly with a PSU. The aural exciter bit seems not to do much at all, even with battery power. Sold as not working. UK postage will be a fiver, you are welcome to collect from Bewdley (near Kidderminstter) and pay cash for free. Paypal friends and family if I'm posting please. Any questions, please DM me.
  11. Sounds absolutely insanely filthy (in a good way) Lightly used, but good condition. UK postage will be a fiver, you are welcome to collect from Bewdley (near Kidderminstter) and pay cash for free. Paypal friends and family if I'm posting please. Any questions, please DM me.
