  1. She also has some signature Bass strings - LaDellas. Deep talkin' Fladkins.
  2. My apologies - he deps with The Edwin Starr band featuring Angelo Starr
  3. That pink instrument is gorgeous, and your Sire is really nice too.
  4. LAST NIGHT! The Cantina band at the Cameo Suite in Coleshill (Brum) for a 60th birthday party. I've played here before with the big band, tonight was a very different vibe. We'd invested in (and were all wearing) some 'Mos Eisley Cantina' T-shirts ('No droids! Live music!'), which made us look like we'd put some thought into a cohesive onstage appearance and would project an air of professionalism. (We hadn't. It didn't.) Load in during a biblical rainstorm was fun, setup fairly standard, (I got to tell my 'Ernie Ball gave me this Bass for nothing' story), the audience didn't look like your typical heavy rock fans, we thought we'd be about as popular as a double-sided sandpaper condom but to be fair a few of them got up and had a boogie, so that was nice. The second set was tons better, loads of people up and dancing (apart from Helter Skelter, which absolutely cleared the dancefloor), the 80s section of the set went down a storm, my hiphop joke got a laugh (just the one) and they were loving it by the end - even the too-cool-for-school youngsters were up dancing. I spent the last three songs on the dancefloor (apart from going to the bar to order a round of drinks mid-song as it was last orders) which was ace and got a lot of bemused looks. Sterling -> small board -> MB CMD121P. I played a couple of songs with a pleccy for the first time in about twenty years, which was very gratifying, the drummer played a blinder (he's an absolute machine, he deps with Edwin Starr (!), no idea why he's playing with a bunch of half-arsed charlatans like us), we even got the riff in the Sweet child of mine solo right, birthday boy loved it, Mrs birthday boy (who'd booked us) loved it and it was a pretty decent payer. Pack up, load out (rain had stopped, thankfully), Marvin Gaye on the way home, back about 1 for a Henry Westons vintage (8.2% ABV - the Hereford Heroin) and leftover Jambalaya.
  5. Oh thank heavens... I thought this was going to be another "Bah! Modern music is rubbish!" thread. 😀 She's got a hell of a voice and can certainly write a song.... anyone who can listen to "Someone like you" and not feel a flicker of emotion* should hand themselves in to their local police station immediately. Some bloke called 'Pinot Palladin' (?) on Bass for '21' - he sounds half decent and I'm sure he'll go a long way. * Anyone who replies 'hatred' or 'disgust' - straight to prison.
  6. Graham bought my Pick Punch - he was a pleasure to deal with all the way.
  7. Great compressors these - especially for those (like me) who think compressors are scary and complicated. GLWTS
  8. Mike bought some Rosin off me. He was a pleasure to deal with.
  9. Nick bought some DB strings from me (off me?) - he was a gent to deal with.
  10. Can anyone recommend some PA speaker stands? I know K&M are the best, but jebus they're pricey. Any decent budget ones I should know about? Any I should avoid? Ta

  14. What's the weight of the Post-It please?
  15. 11 years?! They're just getting going...
  16. French style DB bow. No idea of make, probably nothing too exciting. I think it needs re-hairing, and the gold-coloured wirey bit on the top seems to have come undone. £20 plus a fiver postage?
  17. The best colour combo on the best Bass! Welcome to the family.
  18. NOW £65 Protection Racket Deluxe Acoustic Bass guitar case. Fantastic bit of kit, it's the deluxe model. so the "Propile" fleece removes surface moisture & preserves tonal stability between gigs, maintains instrument well being and polishes & cleans your Bass in transit (Apparently.) It's huge - it fits my Tacoma Thunderchief which is the biggest ABG I've ever met. Super sturdy, tough handle, heavy duty zips, backpack straps (than can be stashed away if you don't need them), it's a really top case in great condition. There are a few storage marks on it, which are purely cosmetic Lots of pockets for music, pedals, tuner, strap, stand, leads, prosthetics etc etc RRP is currently £180 ish I'm only selling as I don't use it and I'm downsizing. Check the website for more info about how fabulous Protection Racket stuff is: https://www.protectionracket.com/construction The chess board, picture and thumb are not included. It's too big to post, so cash on collection only from Bewdley, Worcestershire (near Kidderminster, near Birmingham) I'm in Leeds early October or I could probably meet you somewhere in the west midlands. Any questions, please ask.
  19. Unused for yonks and unwanted. £2 to cover postage, free if you collect. Save it from landfill!
  20. Two Three Bass hangers. I found another one! Could probably be used for guitars or ukes I suppose. They're a bit scratty but they'll probably clean up if the way they look bothers you. There are two of the black ones. The black ones rotate so they're useful for non-symetrical headstocks. The yellow one doesn't so it isn't. Screws included. Five quid posted, free if you can collect from Bewdley DY12 If they're still here in a week, they'll go in the bin.
  21. Bought from ebay yonks ago and never used, fitted or even tested. 5 band EQ, built in tuner, mic and piezo pickup, jack and XLR outputs. Yours for the cost of postage - probably about 4 or 5 quid? Yours for nowt if you collect from Bewdley DY12
