1. I've always liked the look of em - I remember seeing a purple one with a dark fretboard (can't remember wood) and it was one of the most lovely looking things I'd ever seen. Though I have heard about the thin finish. This been addressed yet?
2.
kind of makes sense now I think about it... If you're after a pretty amp then the prettiest of them all IMO has to be the Ampeg B-15 Flip Top:
Now that is rather gorgeous
3. There's one on t'bay atm. Will be shipped from America and will undoubtedly be horrendously expensive but there we go: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VINTAGE-1962-FENDER-...=item53e12380f0
4. I've been GASSING after one of these for years. Only ever seen them in the £6000 odd price bracket so never really been a feasible idea!
5.
cheers man, please do. I see there's a lot out there but not a lot of difference, unless i had all the gear here to plug, play and fiddle with:( Trace Elliots/TC Elec's/Mesa Powerhouse, SVT amps?!?!
Will do mate. Currently have been pairing the Mesa with my 400+ and it sounds pretty mighty, so it'll be interesting to see how the Orange fairs. Another reason I suggested the Mesa 210 is they do turn up at quite a reasonable price second hand. I got mine for £250 IIRC. Ta!
6. Just a quickie - anyone know where I can get a Spector brand hardcase for my Euro 5? Ta very muchly
7. Hmm, I was looking for something similar and plumped for a Mesa powerhouse 210. Stack it vertically and it'll be fine for most small gigs and also it's quite light for what it is and what it sounds like. I'm picking up the Orange head next Thursday so I'll tell ya how I get on!
8. Aye, they be knobs. Simone was a goodun though.
9. There's also this old technique - 1) Put superglue on the finger tips of one hand 2) Place them on your forearm and hold them there 3) Let glue dry 4) Rip fingers off forearm, taking skin from forearm with them 5) Repeat for other hand = extra thick fingers!
10. Great guy to deal with . Quick, simple and easy transaction, couldn't ask for more really . Thanks dude!
11.
How did you get on? Did you try the Hydrive 15? Reviews seem to be a bit on the rare side on t'interweb to be honest. I wanted to know more about the Hydrive 4x10 and 8x10 - but there's not really any 'real world' teviews that I have seen yet.
I got my mitts on one in a store in the US, didn't get to give it a proper go around due to the environment (surrounded by 15 year olds slappity bappity clackitying their way through flea numbers) , but I was definitely liking what I was hearing. Good punch. Nathan Watts seems to like em, and in my mind that's one hell of an endorsement
12.
Go on Ash, open you wallet, you know it makes sense, its a beaut, I just want one with 5 strings on it now!!
I have the 5er equivalent. It aint' going anywhere is all I'm going to say, phenomenal instrument. Same finish as yours methinks . Despite literally shooting a load in my pants when this came up I really really really cannot afford/justify this considering I already have a euro 4 LX! To anyone reading though - these instruments are absolutely incredible. Competing (and winning half the time) with my American MTD. They are just so so good, especially with a set of 45-105s on em. £899 is a steal. And to you again, Cetera, you really have created a monster here. ... I thank you
13. ...cannot...justify... DAMN YOU CETERA!
14. Dunno... maybe too many negative TB connotations?
15. om nom nom
16.
You'll never steal my Spector crown!! You hear me?!?! Never!!!! Bwa ha ha ha ha!!!!
Juuuuust you wait buddy boy Haha, my second Euro arrived today! Lovely bit of kit and I feel it was more than a bit of a steal since it's new and cost me under a grand . In serious need of new strings and a set up though! Pics later!
17. Is quite a nice idea, but not entirely convinced they'll last a long time though tbh
18. Gotta be Ellefson. That said, Lomenzo had the better hair.
19. This still around?
20.
Yeh, I'd give them a bell, mine arrived within 24 hours, mind you if there was a problem I'd assume they would contact you, worth the wait, v nice basses!
Well there was a small problem - it was marked slightly incorrectly so they called up to check it was ok. Went through on Monday though! Hmm... Definitely will call tomorrow and will update. Haha, free bumpage for you too!
21.
No worries, it is beautiful but does what my Alembic 5 does (which is a good thing) so one of them has to go, mind you, I do turn over loads of gear, must be a short attention span thing! hows the spector?
Hasn't arrived yet! Which is odd considering the order went through on Sunday. Hmm. I'll give em a call tomorrow
22. Not to your liking then? Sorry mate
23. Can't get more perfect than a P bass + orange/ampeg really, gotta agree with the people here. A Stingray'd work too. Help us out, what's your price range here? The Ashdown might not be the issue, IIRC James LoMenzo of Megadeth fame used Ashdown and from the live footage I remember he always used to cut through and sound pretty good. Try some more EQ tweaking and shove a pedal in your line to get a bit more grind?
24.
http://www.fodera.com/a_jackson.html A thing of beauty. I would, in a shot.
Bleugggh, not my thing at all. That said I do like the single cut emperors. Each to their own I guess
