have a GL as well, it's a versatile bass but does suffer from weak pups
Really? I'm digging that tone! Anyone put one of those J retros in a geddy? I am interested I've got to say...
The other major difference as I understand it (in addition to the active EQ on the MM) is that the Geddy has an exceptionally thin neck (Geddy shaved down the neck on his 70s Jazz that this is a copy of). This means it plays very fast but also, according to some, leaves it prone to changing shape as the weather gets hotter or cooler - meaning truss rod tweaks etc. Don't know if this is a serious issue but it was highlighted by a BC'er not too long ago IIRC.
I too have a slightly modded Geddy (I just took the PG off, I like the all black/maple look ) and I absolutely love it. It even plays second fiddle to my MTD sometimes and that takes something very special lol. In terms of the neck, it does alter more easily than others but i've found if you just keep it out of direct sunlight it stays fine. Also it pays dividends to do small adjustments yourself rather than letting it build up. But as has been said, play both, I've heard great things about the MM. In terms of other famous players, the guy from the Killers uses a Geddy and the bassist from Taking Back Sunday certainly used to use a MM Post pics whichever way you go!
(My wireless battery pack goes through far more 9v's than my bass ever does).
Ah! Those things eat batteries! One of the reasons I've switched back to cables, can't afford it lol.

Ah it's good to see this info again, I remember he posted it in a blog some time back. Peavey seem to be having a bit of a comeback of late, no?
Other bassists tell you how much better they would have played that song.......
Oh my days been there - Had a gig last Friday, and despite bringing my own stuff we opted to all use the same bass rig as it would be easier for everyone involved. We had a great set, the crowd was big and everyone was into it for the short 35 minutes we got on stage. I was cutting through the mix well and people were digging it. It was great fun to play and the crowd really got behind us and were singing along and everything. Even got a couple of compliments about my tone as well 10 minutes after we finish I'm standing at the smoking area (friends are smokers) with a drink and some guy overhears a convo we're having re: Jason Newstead's bass tone and he comes into the middle of our convo and goes "...yeah...you sounded like sh*t, turn up the bass, it was too trebley" , and continues on a 10 minute rant about everything that was wrong with the bass tone that evening. I was using a £3.5K bass through a reasonably good Peavey rig like he could do any better. Tw*t.

Nothing but wishes of comfort to his family and friends. Far too young to die, especially in those circumstances. RIP

I thought it was a 4U unit? Either way great find mate!

I ended up sending a mixer to a cruise ship of all places on mainland europe and it ended up there in one piece. Taking out the extra cost I actually find you get a better service when shipping overseas... I don't know. I think most people's objection is that if it does go wrong it could potentially be much more difficult to solve. IMHO of course
Have you been before? Depends on what you're interested in and what you want to do. Do you know yet where abouts in Tokyo you are staying?
I don't really know yet, I'm at the very beginning of my planning because I'm not planning to go until around may next year. Interests wise, I love old architecture and history (one of the reasons I want to go to Kyoto), though I also love technology, general sightseeing, shopping, anything really, I'd just like a taste of the culture and life there. Also maybe a trip down ESP way wouldn't go amiss Oh yeah and I want to experience one of those Japanese toilets everyone seems to rave about Thinking about this I don't want to hijack a thread, redirect here - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=52675 Thanks

Hello there, I'm also looking to sell on my Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 Info can be found here: http://www.mesaboogie.com/Product_Info/Bas...ck/bigblock.htm Interesting note about the head - I bought it off Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying fame ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/As_I_Lay_Dying_(band) ) , it's in top notch condition and while it has been gigged regularly it is in perfect working order. It is an American model and as such it will be supplied with a step down transformer. This is an absolute beast of an amp! It sounds absolutely gorgeous. Taking into account it is an American head, I'm happy to let this go for £680, and that's including a £250 transformer too. I'm more interested in a straight sale but if the right trade offer for a bass came along I'd consider it As with my cabs that are up here at the moment if there's no firm interest by around this time next week they'll be heading on over to ebay I can arrange a courier at additional cost, though as always a pick up is always preferable. I can also arrange a meet too Pics to follow, PM me if you want any more info Thanks, Ash

All sold, thanks for all the interest Hello all, What with the new rig these guys aren't getting the love and attention they deserve. I have two UL410's, 4ohm. Info is at the epifani website here I can arrange a courier at additional cost, though as always a pick up is always preferable. I can also arrange a meet too These are lovely sounding cabs and oh so light, they are in as new condition. I'm looking for £550 per cab or £900 for both. I'm not interested in trades, but if the right trade for a bass came along I would take it I'd prefer to sell these here, but if I don't have any firm interest by this time next week it's off to evilbay unfortunately Pics to follow , PM if any more info is needed

Judging from screen name as well I would guess a wind up but that aside... From what I gather, get some recordings of yourself done, and just do everything you can to get your name out and make friends because half the time it's who you know over anything else. Start locally and build up. Audition for everything you can find and advertise your services too. And though I don't really do any session work this was the advice given by Mike Hurst over lunch with him about a year ago he's a really nice and genuine chap.
