Thanks for the offer mate, but I'm looking for cash
Cheers anyways,

Pics now up!

Standard stuff really - unplugged myself mid song, changed the channel of my wireless pack without noticing, knocked over my drummer's crash.
Does remind me of one time with my guitarist though - we were about 14, couldn't have been more than our 2nd or 3rd gig. We'd written this 6 minute song that built to this "amazing" solo. He falls to his knees to unleash this opus of guitaring proficiency aaaaand...unplugs himself. Cue me laughing away behind my drum kit and him looking fairly sheepish. Sad thing is it took him about a bar or so to notice he wasn't making any noise... -
Fair enough, pics are going to be on this evening.

PRICE DROP! GONE TO EBAY http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=003
Hi there,
I'm looking to sell on my Ampeg rig. It consists of an SVT 3 Pro head, and SVT 15E and SVT 410 HE cabs. They were all made before Ampeg production was moved .
It's been well used and well loved, and the cabs bare some battle scars. However, it's all working perfectly and sounds awesome. The head has been serviced in the past year and I'm also including a rack for the head and relevent cables in with the sale.
Pics!
I'm looking for £900 (NOW £850!) . I'm open to all reasonable offers, but due to the size etc it'll need to be picked up or handed over at a meeting point.
So...any takers or questions ?
Thanks,
Ash
Now on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:IT&ih=003 -
Sorry about that, I meant amp as in amplifier head.
I was thinking of moving to mesa, and due to their stupid prices over here I was going to pick one up from America... -
Anyone know a good online place to buy quality 240/120 step down transformers? Or a national chain of stores that stock them?
I'm looking for something that could deal with an amp here
Thanks,
Ash -
+1 to above but
Type (as in roadready, diesel etc) and year also?
Cheers,
people seem to just dislike letting bass cut through in a mix :/
Yes! It's damn annoying - I used to barely be able to hear myself and I'd get similar comments from people there...so now I get my bassist friend to run sound
Good thing he's the techy type -
Jebus! So sorry dude, I'd be absolutely gutted if that happened.
Best of luck -

Fair point, but that seemed slightly agressive...
unnecessary, dude. -
-
And yes, +1 to Teen T shirt - having the bass higher up works wonders
For this band i have needed to adopt a three finger plucking technique
As has been said before, I've been playing with three fingers (standard 3,2,1 plucking) for about 2 and a bit years now and while I was getting that down it hurt like HELL. Stick it out dude, it makes life soooo much easier in the long term
And in reference to why you need three fingers, somehow I find it easier now, and also for faster stuff or little flangy type things it can add some nice colour to songs. Also found I can play for longer as I'm putting the stress accross three fingers rather than two. -
Ashdown do have good customer support IME.
Ashdown have pant-wettingly good customer support. Absolutely stellar in that department. I had an ABM rig for a while and had no reliability issues, it just wasn't the right tone for me
As has already been said, go out and try the amps you're interested, apart from finding out which one you want it's also an excuse to play with some veeeeeery pretty gear
and hello! Welcome to basschat -
I've seen a couple of posts here recently talking about how "loud" valve amps are. I was kind of under the impression if you had, say, a solid state amp and a valve amp both rated at 300 watts or whatever that they would both put out more or less the same volume as they had the same wattage?
Am I completely wrong here?
Thanks for any help and (hopefully ) the lack of flaming

If this is still around after christmas I could be VEEEEERY interested . In the meantime, have a bump on me

What exactly is Mosfet, and why do some companies value it over tubes?! Argh I'm confused
Any help appreciated! -
*Comes to the defense of the SVT-3 lol*
I'll be honest I sold my Ashdown rig for an Ampeg rig, so I'm going to be slightly biased here. I went from an ABM 500 EVO II + ABM115 +ABM410 to an SVT-3 Pro + SVT15E + SVT410HLE, and personally I'd take the ampeg tone over the ashdown any day of the week. The growl! Argh, love it!
However, to be fair to Ashdown I never had any reliability issues, and I preferred the higher power rating on the Ashdown cabs. When it comes to the SVT-3 I don't think for a second it is underpowered, it's served me well at many gigs.
Anyhoo back on the topic of tone, I feel the ampeg suits me better, especially for rock/metally stuff. However, it has performed admirably in jazz settings. The two brand's cabs have a biiiiig affect on the tone (to my ears) so maybe that was the reason I didn't like Ashdown...hmm, do you have the option of trying both out? -
I could be very interested in the 2x10.
You interested in just the cab going? -
This could be interesting...in the end it's his bass. I'd be interested to see photos
at least its not fallen from a wall hanger onto your multigym, snapping the neck and killing your gran in the process!!!!

You speak from experience? -
So there I was, happily jamming away on my 'ray to some CD's and the part of the nut roughly in line with my E string snaps off.
What the hell just happened? I've babied it since I got it (from Presoulnation - awesome dude) and kept very good care of it, and now I can't use my E string...
Is it something I've done (so I can ensure it doesn't happen again) or do these things just happen?
I'm pretty gutted at the moment to be honest, I know it can be fixed easily but still...I like keeping my basses nice and healthy y'know?
any help appreciated
