1. In the interests of science, I purchased said crate this afternoon from the well known German supermarket. My Rumble 350 weighs 34kg, I won't be putting my combo on the crate
2.
Popular music is currently going through a phase where it's spending far too much time looking backwards and trying to preserve the past when the music and musicians from those eras were doing everything they could to throw out traditional notions of what music was and the instruments used to play it.
I find this an odd, potentially contradictory, statement as much of the your Territones material I've listened to sounds very similar to bands like The Cramps and King Kurt, whom I was listening to 30 years ago.
3.
Please take the 'envy' in this thread in a lighthearted way. Thanks
I think we should all envy anyone who can play with their organ in public and get away with it.
4. I couldn't be bothered to read it, it was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long.
5.
I'm a wee bit older, & my guilty pleasure would be Elkie Brooks. Saw her live in Barnstaple a few years ago & she was exceptional. (I might get to pluck her later........ ) G.
I know the bass player who played on her Bookbinder's Kid and Pearls III (Close to the Edge) albums. Just shameless name dropping
6. A truly dire Gorilla practice amp. Just shocking. I borrowed some Laney combo for a practice once that was dreadful as well. None of the controls seemed to do anything, perhaps they were decorative. And it sounded, rubbish.
7. Jessie J. I could play with her all day long Don't tell the wife
8. All depends on what sort of player you are. Some don't need a high C, some of us don't need (or know how to use a low B ). The bad ass MF in this band uses a 6 string and having seen him play live, he's awesome. 9. I'm in no way great at playing bass, but I'd love to be able to play the guitar bloody brilliantly, to the point people turn to jelly when I played (and maybe be able to sing a bit).
10. Westone Spectrum II. Everything about it was awful, pickups, pots, jack, neck, body, action....wait, the tuning gears were alright but I hated the pointy headstock.
11. The 12/12/6 looks very tempting. Just wish I had the a bit more money...as usual.
12. The one that does best at the audition. ....and has a drum kit. It may sound daft but it happens.
13. If you want an SKB case apparently there literally loads littered around Afghanistan. More or less the same case is used for grenade launchers or something similar. The cases just get dumped.
14. Bum, forgot to add a reply. It was a crumby joke really. Could have done with a smiley.
15.
I think Marvin is saying that is the question he would ask a prospective singer, as many seem to only have a mic, sometimes not even a stand.
16.
I use the Alpine Musicsafe earplugs, and they're awesome for the money. Come with a carrying case and a choice of three different attenuation inserts, plus a spare earplug. I can't gig without them now, it sounds like a right racket!
I've got these and can't get on with them at all. I can't hear anything when I wear them, so I don't bother.
17.
Marv... can i call you Marv? This is just french cars all over. My dad used to have an old peugeot 309. There was a light that always came on (stayed on constantly) that said their was a fault with the oil pump (or maybe it was the glow plugs). But after changing the pump (or plugs) twice, the light still stayed on. I think he even replaced the light. In the end, he decided it was "A f*** up of a thing" and took the light out entirely. It's just some of the incredibly ANNOYING character you get with a french car. It's like a friend that snorts when they laugh. If you are really unlucky, it's like a really ugly friend that tries to get you into bed every time they are drunk.
You can certainly call me Marv, it's still not my real name My French car, looks lovely, just very poorly put together.
18. I never watch these vids, bore me rigid. Anyway aren't the likes of Wooten, Clarke, Millar, Pino etc etc etc on YouTube? They seem to be missing from the list. Oh, and Peter Hook of course
19. Decent looking site, but some of the links don't work. Perhaps a bit more 'road testing' before it was sent forth?
20.
IMO it was all going beautifully UNTIL 3.15, where he proceeded to mash up a very good song with a load of old pony that had no purpose except to get his massive cock out on TV.
You're just jealous your cock is smaller
21. I have a bass made of ply and it sustains more so than the solid wood body one have. Never had an issue with it. I think I'd be inclined to remove the pickguard or neck rather than expose a bass to such temperature changes to find out though.
22.
I've done a few playalong vids. Beyond my own vanity, I wanted to do good versions so people could learn the track from my vid if they wanted to, I enjoyed the challenge of getting a good take in one go for some tricky numbers, and most of the versions I saw on youtube were not accurate or played very well so I wanted to put a decent version up. That's about it. Haven't done one in two years and not felt the need.
They probably downloaded the wrong tabs online. Bloody amateurs.
23. Can you fit valves in those new fangled flat screen tellys? I wouldn't have thought there was the room.
