1.
Sounds like you guys should start a metal band.
don't say that, my other band is a metal band
 2.
You could always spend the forum downtime doing some practise?
Steady! Where would we all be if we started practising? It would take all the misery away of not knowing what one was playing and why, and you'd be able to play those fancy licks...not for me, I relish the misery of frustration
 3.
Why not have a go yourself?
I have a voice that makes people cry...and not in a good way
 4. I was asked recently to join a band with some old school mates. We've had about half a dozen practices/jams and it's absolutely bloody fantastic. I'm playing exactly what I want, it's my style, there are loads of ideas and we're all just loving the groove. Only one snag, we need a singer. Really hoping we find one soon as we're itching to get out gigging. Great fun though. Feel I've really found my musical home
 5.
I have the notation with tab. PM me your email and I'll scan and send it to you. This part is totally different to the rest of the song and will need some work to nail and remember it. I have to keep practising the song because of this section. It' great when you get it as it's a blasting bass line.
Glad I'm not the only one. Remembering the damned part is the most difficult bit

 7.
I'm pretty sure this one is in the Bass Tab "white pages"
It is.
 8. The only thing that struck me was Chris Cornell's interesting choice in knitwear . I couldn't hear the bass player. I quite liked the bass part in the Chez Long track, didn't go much on the song though.
 9. I've just bought a wiring harness from John for my P bass. Ordered it very late on Monday evening, John dispatched on Tuesday and it arrived this morning. The workmanship is excellent and takes no time to fit. John was also super quick in replying to my questions about what harness to get. Can recommend John highly enough, a top gent.
 10.
Copycat !! It will sound great mark my words. Heres a good price with free delivery: http://www.stringsdi...tage_for_p_bass
Strings Direct are where mine are coming from.
 11. I find the best way to avoid aches and pains is to be completely inactive. Only when it is absolutely essential should one move, at all. The sofa is my favourite resting place with the TV in the on postion.
 12.
I have an old Korean Squier with a lovely neck and a nice sunburst body. I put in a Seymour Duncan SPB1 pickup and it sounds great! People often comment on the sound of the bass after gigs.
I'm so glad you said that, I've got some SD SPB1's coming for my Korean Squier. And a new wiring loom care of KiOgon.
 13. I always thought I was wimping out by using index and little. I can stretch to use my ring finger, but it's not particularly comfortable and doesn't always sound good tbh.
 14.
The reason they don't want to get involved with other muso's is so they don't get all the hassle and band politics that comes along with other musicians . They get to play the type of music they enjoy playing . They get to keep all the gig money . They never get let down by unreliable drummers / bassists . If my singing was better , I would consider going down that route myself. When I was living in North Devon ( Barnstaple ) about 15 years ago , I never struggled to get into a band , back then it was considered the Seattle of England and their were loads of Grunge bands around . The surfy places of Croyde and Woolies also meant a few great reggae bands were knocking around , there was a very diverse music scene when I lived there.
Halcyon days... 15-20 years ago North Devon was brimming with bands and had decent places to play. The Anchor in Westward Ho!, the Exeter Inn in Barnstaple. Like you say loads of grunge bands...then Britpop came along and it all disappeared
 15. Do you play it using Index and ring finger or Index and little finger? Just asking
 16.
Marvin, do you go to see lots of local bands? If you want to meet musos in your area, that is often a good start, as there are usually some in the audience. Of course you need to be outgoing and willing to both start conversations and steer them over to whether folks play anything, but if that isn't something you find especially easy, you can bet it is a lot more comfortable than auditioning random ad responses can be! And buying someone a pint is an infinitely better start that sitting examining them in a rehearsal room.
I personally don't get along to many gigs, but the guys in the metal band do. Everyone they know or have asked is busy with other projects. The one drummer who would be ideal for the job is the guy from their old band. Unfortunately the likelihood of him working with us are...remote. I know a fair few people/musos and put the feelers out but again everyone's busy. I've talked to others and they're in the same position, missing bits of bands Went to a few open mics recently, that wasn't very productive, like I've said, lots of singer songwriters who want to stay doing solo stuff.
 17. Definitely seems to be hellish difficult putting together an originals band. There are quite a lot of singer song writers around this area, however, they don't seem to want to be in bands. Covers bands are probably easier to find people for but even then.... North Devon is also very musically conservative and mainstream.
 18.
Its better than the 15 + 4x10 thing because the sensitivity is closer matched. The phase matching is still down to chance though.
Having read the numerous threads on cab combinations (must admit I was a little hesitant about starting this thread for those reasons but my curiosity got the better of me) the 15 and 210 being closer matched is why i thought people may prefer it to a 115/410 rig.
 19. The guy I heard last weeking using the config sounded fine. Tight and clear (and he'd mixed manufacturers , )
 20.
That was the sell of a few years ago, and with the low power ratings of chassis, it worked ok. I don't think there is any advantage today ..as the 115 cab will invariably be heavier and/or bigger for the same 300-ish power rating. A decent 210 will do that easily..so you may as well have 2x210..?? You might get the cabs to stacks a few cms higher..?? but this is negated by decent cabs anyway, IMO. Both my 2x112 and 2x210 rigs are heard by me on small-ish stages from wherever I might stand I used 115 plus 210 configs and I liked them, it is just that 2x210 looses nothing over them and you would probably get 2 horns in the cabs.
It being the 'sell' of a few years ago may explain why quite a few are coming up second hand, as people move them for newer gear and different combinations.
 21. I've seen a lot of ads for, and recently saw a bass player using this combination of cabs. Is there a specific reason for this combination? How does it compare to other cab combinations? Just wondering
 22.
GOOD drummers are definitely always hard to source - and most of them are playing in bands!! Ironically my current band has two drummers, one on drums (duh), the other plays keys.
Ooo, that's greedy It's a particular problem for the band that needs a drummer. Best description would be Prog Symphonic Metal (sort of). We tried one guy out but he didn't seem to understand that he needed to be quite disciplined regards keeping to a structure, also he wasn't up to it technically really. I said to the other guys that I didn't listen to him at all because he played something different every time and he seemed to play at odds with the rest of the band.
 23. I'm in two originals bands at the moment, just starting out. One needs a drummer the other a singer. Despite asking around and posting ads on the usual sites to find band members, it seems to be a real struggle to find anyone. Not just anyone suitable, but anyone at all. Perhaps it's just where we live (North Devon). A couple of months ago a mate (drummer) asked if I wanted to start up a covers band with him. We tried to find others but to no avail. Is anyone else finding it difficult to find people? Have things really slowed down or something? Note: I did get a reply to an internet ad I placed yesterday, but I don't think the respsodant read the ad. It clearly stated we were a blues based outfit. So he responded by saying he had no interest in playing blues
 24. On my Ibanez I have a set of D'Addario XL 165s. They're what Ibanez fit at the factory (sort of), I've tried others but these seem to suit this bass and the way I play it. Also they're not at all expensive, so that's a bonus. On my P bass at the moment I have a set of Rotosound Roundwounds, can't remember the gauge. However, not to keen on them to be honest and on the recommendation of a fellow BCer I'll be ordering a set of Lakland flats to get 'that' sound.
 25. I use bass strings. I find guitar strings a bit too short and thin
