1. Only because someone suggested a 'jam' to see if we gel, it got me thinking. What is a jam? Really, you know. Do you arse about with songs you all might know? Do you play just random stuff that just pops into your 'ead? WIth my current band 'jamming' means the latter, and is a way of sometimes finding new ideas for original material. However, what if it's for a covers band? EDIT: and what happens at jam nights? I've been to open mic nights but not jam nights. Is there a difference?
 2. We've got 3 kids (eldest now 8 and two youngest are 5) and not one of them has touched my bass without me saying they can. The only thing they've ever done is alter the eq on my amp when it was turned off.
 3.
This thread
Glad I'm not the only one
 4.
COULD win a Prize?? SHOULD win a Prize?? Maybe- "I better not be sayin' anything about a Prize 'round these h'yar parts, or I'll be horn-swoggled if some take umbrage and virtually kick my arse for implying such' Oh, If I could only turn back the clock of Time..... I'd buy the right lottery ticket, that's what!
Putting should would have rattled the natives even more, probably
 5.
Not even if I bought one ticket 'n let thee in thru t' bog window!
If thee could geet someone t' give me a bump up, I were quite short in 78. Grand of yee
 6. "MAY" win a prize!? Tfft, it's July anyway, 6 weeks late.
 7.
French or German? Wood or carbon fibre?
One of each
 8. The phase cancellation can be quite noticeable sometimes. I tend to use the neck pick up a lot lately for a that P bass tone as this works well in the band I'm playing with at the moment.
 9.
Ah you see, I'm an old sod, my first (Motorhead) gig was around 1978 (poss even '77). They were likened to a loud punk band then. A' t' Bold Street Workingmen's Club, Accrington, 'n we all 'ad kippers f' tea.
Well...I'm not that young really, but I was only 5 in '78 so I probably wouldn't have been allowed in t' Bold Street Workingmen's Club, Accrington.
 10.
I remember Lemmy being slagged for playing chords - but he's managed to get along.
Did he? I'm young you see and wouldn't have been aware of this Odd though considering chords is all so very....something or other...oh you know...not fashionable but sort of in? Isn't it?
 11. This is all turning out well I've stopped using either pick or fingers and neither do I engage in slapping. No! It's the bow for me. Yes, that's right a bow. It's the only way to groove.
 12. I'm a fairly cautious person but will quite happily do my own set ups. I've paid for set ups and they were very good, but as I'm quite happy to do it myself then... Even tweaking the truss rod isn't a big ordeal, it's more confidence then anything.
 13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcQX3fckQzo&feature=related From his website: Bob Babbitt was never just any bass player. Sums it up for me.
 14. Bores me rigid, dum de dum dum dum dum de dum de dum de dum. And so it goes on. Where's the creative expression in that? Just gets me out the house tbh.
 15. I love everyone Just don't let the Mrs find that out though
 16.
amended for accuracy
Sorry, thank you, you were entirely right to amend
 17.
Having been involved in drafting use agreements for major concert venues, you'll find it has a lot less to do with the so-called local "miserable bastards" residents objections to noise than it has to do with concerns for the safety of attendees and working time regulations, for venue custodial and security personnel. Timings are carefully coordinate with local policing provision, and usually set to allow attendees safe and ready access to local public transport routes and hubs in order to leave the area afterwards. Yes, of course, noise pollution is a consideration, but it is by no means the primary consideration.
Considering what silddx does, there is a certain irony regards your post SILDDX, SORT YOURSELF OUT MAN. GET YOURSELF INFORMED
3 hours FFS! They obviously ain't doing enough gigs.
Springsteen's renowned for doing long sets.
 18. I've a 300. Last week I tried a 400 and a 700. The 700 is BLOODY LOVELY. Same electronics and Pickups as the 500 but with a slightly more exotic(?) body. It feels very similar to the 500. I really like them...all.
 19.
OK!
That's much better
 20.
Yeah, say what you think Rich for Christ's sake, don't beat about the bush.
Put a on the end, otherwise I'll think you're being serious . And stop using my real name
 21.
Can't quite sense the tone there....lol
hmmm, perhaps I wasn't being blunt enough
 22.
Because of this thread, I checked them on tv last night at T in the park. I don't get them at all.... No songs no nothing, all eggs in a dodgy style basket but hugely overrated IMO. Oh well, move on.
I saw their T in the Park slot. I'll be a bit more blunt. I thought they were f***ing sh*t. If this is one of the best British bands it'll explain why I'm listening to a lot of US music lately.
 23. I listened to the Soul to Squeeze clip on this thread and yes it's a very nice bass line. However, it simply confirmed what I think of RHCP, they bore me rigid. Seems a shame to waste a nice line on a song like that.
 24. Originals, covers but no tribute bands . Not precious about genre. I live in North Devon. Got gear, transport. I'm reliable to the point of boredom and have an awful sense of humour. Not technically brilliant but I can play to a decent standard and I put in the work. PM me you know you want to really. BTW my real name is Rich, just to add some confusion.
