1. However much a Fender 350 combo goes for these days.
2. I had a go on one of these recently and was thoroughly impressed. The neck feels great.
3.
I was all about fender but I am liking the tone of the ibanez.
I find it odd that Ibanez get quite regularly criticised for the lack of tone. I've played a few now with stock pickups and the Barts and I don't understand why they get a bad reputation. I've liked all of them.
4.
Thats because they're decent, and don't usually require replacement. Itd be a good use of the same money to try other Ibanez models second-hand, maybe? You'd get an EDB500 for next to nothing s/h, and you'd automatically get a great set of pickups IN it!!
You're right. I'm trying to stop myself from buying another, probably Ibanez, bass I tried an EDB500 at an open mic a few months ago. Very nice bass.
5. Thank you. That pretty clinches that one . And it's convenient as they're stocked in a nearby store.
6. ^^ What that man there said. EDIT: Oh arse! That's not worked I'm on a new page. What iCastle said.
7. My SR300 has the stock Ibanez pups and I was wondering if anyone had or would know of a possible replacement pickup I could use. There's nothing really wrong with the stock pups, it's more idle curiosity than anything else, you don't often see threads on replacing Ibanez pickups.
8. I want to get a hard case for my Ibanez SR. I could get the Ibanez case but didn't know if there were any other options. I've been looking at these 2, so in and around this price range. £80ish http://www.gatorcases.com/p/16136-406/gwe-bass http://www.hiscoxcases.com/standardguitar_hiscox.htm (the one for basses is near the bottom, isn't always the way )
9.
I bought a book today. A very good one it is, too
50 Shades of Grey?
10. I was in a band before I bought my first bass. That was when I was 17. Sold all my gear in my early 20's and didn't play for about 15yrs. Bought my current gear 3 years ago and it was about 6 months before I got into a band. I've been in some sort of band or project since.
11. Gggggrrrrrr, I used to live in Plymouth. Bit too far for me now
12. Gardening? In this weather? No thank you.
13. Moves Like Jagger is a catchy little pop number. Otherwise, well...there are other bands around
14. They don't do a lot for me. I find them a tad bland.
15.
There are some nice ocatves in 'Paranoid' that I am struggling to get up to speed. The band I've just joined does a cover of this so I'm gonna have to get my finger out. Literally!! (Did I mention I was in a band? I think I may have alluded to it in passing, lol )
I always find the best way to approach songs you're finding tricky is to have a hissy fit, a bit of a strop and rant in front of the other band members, then, and only then refuse to play it...for artistic reasons of course
16.
Minor 7th, also lovely.
Tut tut. I used a minor 3rd the other night. I put it back and shan't be using it again.
17. I must investigate, I was unaware there were other notes apart from the 'root' one could play.
18. One bass and one combo for gigging. But loads of leads for some reason I do have a practice amp as well, and two gigbags, which is odd as I've only got one bass
19.
Always room for improvement!
You've heard me play then
20. HELL'S TEETH MAN! Sorry, I felt I had to shout given the sheer volume of the thread. And put it back, your ball was preferable to those knobs in your avatar
21. GAS improves you as a player, it's a well known fact. That's what I tell myself
22.
This is clearly rubbish!
I agree, it's a vicious rumour that should banned on Basschat. If that sort of idea gets a hold what the hell would happen to the for sale forums!!???
23. Can I afford it? This is the only question you need to ask yourself, if you can then.... BUY IT!!!!!!! EDIT: pipped to the post by Luke's first point, d'oh.
24.
I think this is because people can read too much on forums and don't have their own opinions on things or have never tried it so need someone else to either endorse one or establish one for them. Some people spend too much time reading and not enough time actually doing much musically... or are just plain oblivious
Unfortunately the impractical nature of not enough time or money to try numerous combinations means people will seek advice from other people's experience on forums. If that weren't the case this place just simply wouldn't exist. The threads regarding the technical aspects of amps and cabs always get so heated. It need not be.
25. As far as I am aware all the basses in the Soundgear range have the same 'logo' on the headstock i.e SDGR, then underneath Soundgear by Ibanez. Even the SR5006E, which is just over £2000 has the same headstock.
