1.
I once banged the guitarist's ex on a rehearsal room floor. That was awkward. Nothing to do with this but any chance to tell that story,
2. When I saw the words 'Beastie Boys' and 'Sabotage', I thought someone had posted the YouTube clip of Coldplay doing they're 'version' of Fight For Your Right. What a relief
 3. Can't be good for the kids. They must be bored rigid. As a parent, I wouldn't be happy taking my kids along to gigs. Actually, I simply wouldn't take my kids to gigs. The parents need to except that it's not an environment that's good for their children, so if they can't get childcare they're happy with then someone is going to have to stay home . I've been to rehearsals before where a band member has brought along their child. The child is stuck in the corner, watching a portable DVD player, trying to listen to it through headphones - this obviously fails as in the room are some really loud musicians - rehearsal gets cut short through a combination of child getting really tired and bored. It just doesn't work and I think it's unfair on all involved, other band members and the kids.
 4. Been asked to possibly learn this one, quickly , anyone got any pointers please? You know like, the chords, or possibly direct me to notation. Thanks
 5.
There are a number of variables of course. You need to consider the insulation qualities, the acoustic dampening, the frequency changes and reflection. Best bet is to wear a single wellington boot, pull the material over your head and whistle loudly after removing all your clothes to ensure no reflected frequencies are being absorbed. Honest
Dave should be fairly familiar with this. It's not uncommon to drive through Hatherleigh, where Dave lives, and see someone doing something similar. Although it does usually involving walking a sheep on a lead as well.
 6. Have you got a big baggy jumper Dave? If so wrap it tightly around said small cab and it may give a close approximation of what'll happen.
 7.
you answered your own question
£230 for a Fender decal did seem slightly steep
 8. I desperately wanted a Fender P Bass a few months ago. Just GASing for one, I wanted that F on the headstock blah blah blah. I've tried a few MIM, as there in my budget, and was disappointed. Not only by the instrument but disappointed that I was disappointed. Considering a new MIM is in the region of £450, I just couldn't see what I would be getting over my current bass that cost almost half that new.
 9. I recorded a few ideas with the band last week using Garageband on an iPad - the iPad belongs to the guitarist. As I have an iMac I thought it would be fairly easy to copy what was recorded and re-record my parts at home on my edition of Garageband. However, being the dumb git I am I don't seem to be able to work out how to do it as they have no USB ports etc. They seem to be fairly tightly locked up?

 11. Dia wotist arse of a song. Singer in the last covers band desperately wanted to do the Marilyn Manson version, she got a NO from the rest of us
 12.
I've got the Ibanez SR600 with the bartolinis. Great range of tone adjustability. Slim neck suits me too. Not a heavy bass and balanced. Play it through Hartke LH500 and 4.5xl cab
I saw a S/H 600 the other day, one of the newer ones, like this, with the mid switch and extended neck joint. Very tempting for the price.
 13.
I fully expected to get the bum's rush for posting this thread, and quite rightly so, but once again the BassChat community has stepped up to the plate and our own Mr Happy Jack has sorted me out with an 1100W rig... Thanks very much, Jack. And thanks to everyone else who posted here and sent PMs to selflessly offer their prized gear to a total stranger! I'm really quite amazed at the spirit of community on this forum and am very touched and humbled. Thanks again. Better go, or I'll start to blub in a minute... *bottom lip tremble*
You big girl Great stuff mate, well chuffed for you. Just don't ever forget your earplugs It's a good place this.
 14.
The World needs real nerds, fake ones are no good to anybody.
Thank you, I can take some solace in that
 15.
It was the older one with the sweep. I loved that little thing. Not too sure what it does, but makes a slap sound really good.
It adjusts two frequencies, 100Hz and 10kHz. It cuts them by 5db for the fingerstyle, emphasising the mids, and in slap it boosts them by 10db to give that scooped mid sound. Hell, I sound like a real nerd
 16. A bit nerdy, but I just wondered whether the OP had been trying out the newer SR300, without the style sweep EQ but the newer CAP pups, or the older 300 like mine with the EXF pups. Great bass for it's money. I've tried a few other basses lately and they don't feel as good as the SR to me. The SR just sits right. Sound wise, really versatile. I can get to thump, growl, twang, be REALL PHAT and all sorts. I tried a 500 and 700 recently and the Bart pick ups are lovely. Played them through the same combo I have, had the EQ set flat, brilliant sound. They did feel a little more, well yes, more than the 300 if you get my whatever Must admit I have been looking at one of these http://www.ibanez.co...s/model-SR400QM . I saw one in my LMS and it looks bloody awesome. Hence my question regards the pups on the 300.
 17.
Ahhhhhh , don't say that , I've just ordered the cd It was the live vibe that first attracted me to the band
I take it back, I'm wrong. I refer the honourable gentleman to the post below
I like the CD.
18.
You do have to be careful with mushrooms . If you have too many you fond have mushroom for anything else Its bad i know ,I'm sorry , I just could not hold myself back
You're forgiven fellow Devonian
Didnt see them on JH, but have just heard a track played on R2. I wanted to like it, but it didnt quite leap up and bite me. I think I'll have to reserve judgement until I hear some more.. Edit. It might have been 6Music not R2. I dont even know what I'm listening to half the time!
I listened to bits of the album online and must admit something seems to have got lost in the studio. It sounds a bit tame and lacking in energy compared to the live performances.
 19.
Each to his own and all that though, innit? For example, I don't like ...er, Chas 'n' Dave.* * I do really, they're freakin' awesome!
Quite! I don't like mushrooms. Honest, I hate them, really detest them, loathe them, the mere thought of them sends me...
 20. Mention has been made of the bass player's facial contortions and that he's only playing 3 notes. Well, 3 notes is all he needs to play and his face tells me he truly loves those 3 notes. I've been trawling youtube listening to these guys and they just get better. Must buy the CD.
 21. Top thingy Dave! I'm sorry but I didn't listen to Radio 1 and the FC show. The slightest hint of her voice and I go into seizure. I did however catch Maz on local radio a few weeks ago, good stuff. And yes you are getting old, but not as old as me
 22. I was going to give a measured response, but on listening to it now 4 or 5 times, the more I've listened to it the more and more I dislike it. Technically great, yes they are, but nothing in that performance touches or inspires me. Considering they are technically very good, I found what they did totally predictable, so in a musical sense, (in the broadest sense) very wanting.
 23.
The only band I've seen on Jools for a long time that has made me sit up, take notice and actually get off my backside to see where they are playing near Newcastle... Nowhere! LOL
I most definitely agree with you on that, apart from seeing if they're playing near Newcastle...as I live in the south west it'd be a bit of a trek Thought they were brilliant in every way.
 24. Having only ever played one 6 string, and mighty crap I was on it too I've very little knowledge of them. However, I saw a guy playing a Yamaha TRB a few weeks back, through a Line6Pod straight to the PA and it sounded absolutely brilliant. I got talking to that particular bass playing and he loved it.
 25.
It's about time-management. I have the longest journey to rehearsal and am inevitably the first to arrive. Last to arrive is the drummer, who takes the longest to set up. You'd think he'd arrive first, wouldn't you? But no...
Drummer at practice last night had sorted out the rehearsal space, paid for it, got the key, first to turn up, was last to leave and said "don't hang around for me, you guys just get yourselves home". I couldn't, so helped him pack his stuff into his car.
