I can't be arsed and haven't got the time. I learn the songs I need to and that's about as far as it goes. I don't write anything for the originals band I'm in so don't do any practice oriented that way (especially as I might quit it anyway). And with a full time job and 3 kids...meh!

I'd probably recommend you run something like ClamXav, as it will also spot malware that works only under Windows, and help prevent you passing it on unwittingly to a Windows user. Let's get this clear. The Mac is not inherently immune from viruses, trojans and other forms of malware. In some regards it is more difficult to construct something that will work, although a good trojan will work on any platform as it tricks the user into running something that's pretending to be something else. If they think they want to run it, they will. I'd be prepared for the probable rise in Macs being targeted - in fact it has already started, albeit at a low level. Active malware counts are still in the handful area, on Windows it's in the hundreds of thousands. There is absolutely no room for complacency or any false sense of superiority though. When I saw the words 'Beastie Boys' and 'Sabotage', I thought someone had posted the YouTube clip of Coldplay doing they're 'version' of Fight For Your Right. What a relief

Can't be good for the kids. They must be bored rigid. As a parent, I wouldn't be happy taking my kids along to gigs. Actually, I simply wouldn't take my kids to gigs. The parents need to except that it's not an environment that's good for their children, so if they can't get childcare they're happy with then someone is going to have to stay home . I've been to rehearsals before where a band member has brought along their child. The child is stuck in the corner, watching a portable DVD player, trying to listen to it through headphones - this obviously fails as in the room are some really loud musicians - rehearsal gets cut short through a combination of child getting really tired and bored. It just doesn't work and I think it's unfair on all involved, other band members and the kids.

Been asked to possibly learn this one, quickly , anyone got any pointers please? You know like, the chords, or possibly direct me to notation. Thanks

Although it does usually involving walking a sheep on a lead as well.

Have you got a big baggy jumper Dave? If so wrap it tightly around said small cab and it may give a close approximation of what'll happen.

I desperately wanted a Fender P Bass a few months ago. Just GASing for one, I wanted that F on the headstock blah blah blah. I've tried a few MIM, as there in my budget, and was disappointed. Not only by the instrument but disappointed that I was disappointed. Considering a new MIM is in the region of £450, I just couldn't see what I would be getting over my current bass that cost almost half that new.

I recorded a few ideas with the band last week using Garageband on an iPad - the iPad belongs to the guitarist. As I have an iMac I thought it would be fairly easy to copy what was recorded and re-record my parts at home on my edition of Garageband. However, being the dumb git I am I don't seem to be able to work out how to do it as they have no USB ports etc. They seem to be fairly tightly locked up?
