1. It seems every time there is a 'is Basschat getting a bit dull' thread BBC gets mentioned, as if his return would breathe new life into the forum. It, he, wouldn't. He was just one contributor, that's it. There are others who no longer contribute, or can't contribute, whom I would much rather see return way ahead of BBC. I found BBC rather tedious and one dimensional in his contributions. Bored the arse of me his continual shitraking, to the point I didn't actually read his posts as they were so predictable. Basschat is described as a community, it takes more than one person to make a community.
 2.
Just listen to any solo by Alain Caron.....
Oh dear, what have you said?
Who?
3. I can't change the theme either. Odd. Seems to work fine otherwise though. EDIT: Tried Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Safari, all are up to date. I can't change the theme on any of them.
 4. When is the poll due to close? It's probably mentioned somewhere, but alas I'm struggling to find it.
 5.
There is a question that needs asking. Apart from 'How do I transfer funds to your bank account Snicks?' What is the reputation system for? What's its purpose? You can follow that up with... Will the way the function is instigated achieve that purpose? At present, the system encourages me to be slightly lazy and click the arrow rather than responding with words, something already pointed out. It also confuses the voting for post or voting for person issue - again something already pointed out. I've just looked and I see I have a score way beyond what looks like any sensible totting up of my 'reputation'. Which begs the question: What are we really measuring? What is reputation? Whose measure of reputation? Stuffed if I know. It just all seems a bit arbitrary to me. However, it's not meant to be taken seriously is it? So it doesn't matter really. And I've just wasted 5 minutes valuable snacking time. Rectifying as a I type... nom... nom... nom Wanders off muttering....What is food? Why am I eating now? What is its real purpose? Why does bread mould taste so awful?....
I like this. Ooops, should I have clicked on the little green arrow
 6.
Nice one Marvin, glad to hear you have found yourself a band

Top job Marvin
Thanks guys.
 7.
How am I misreading the options? The first two options begin (and I quote) "Keep the reputation system but..." while the last one is "Deactivate the reputation system...". A & B are clearly the same option differentiated by a sub-proviso while option C is clearly their absolute antithesis. A & C can't be the same - C is against the use of Reputation System as a whole, while A is in favour of the system but against one of it's features. And (again) B is also in favour of the system but is not against either of the features. I do see how it can at first look unfair but the wording clearly stipulates that it is a vote to keep, or not to keep... but if kept there is a further condition to the choice.
The wording of the poll question though actually clearly stipulates which option the voter prefers. It's the poll question that's important to obtain the result. The poll question is 'Which option do you prefer'. It's a simple 3 horse race. Nowhere does it say the vote could be construed in the manner you're setting out. You seem to be taking the option statements and turning them into the poll question. We could have a discussion on whether the poll has been very well devised or on how the question has been phrased. However, it's been presented in a relatively straightforward manner hence I should imagine the upshot is is that it's first past the post poll. (holds back from say simples and doing meerkat impression)
 8.
Not so. They are both in favour of the "like" option. The only division between those voting A & B is that the B voters are in favour of "dislike" too.
I think this is wrong and I dislike it
 9. I have just voted, but I'm not saying where I stand, sit, kneel, lie or crouch on this issue. That is between me and my unconscious.
 10. New covers band, only practised a couple of times. We did a small support slot, 5 songs, at The Olive Branch in Barnstaple. A very good first gig, we were all pleased and happy with it. The two main bands were quite young, 19 to 21, and so was most of the crowd therefore. Our few songs weren't really their cup of tea but we still went down very well. A glitch half way through the guitar solo of Rebel Yell actually did us a favour in a way, I think. The power to our amps cut out, our drummer kept going and did a sort of groovyish solo whilst we sorted out the problem, as soon as power was restored, about 30secs or so, we came right back in where we'd left off. We're thinking of keeping it in the set it went down really rather well As all the others, apart from my singer who is the same age as me, were about half my age, I did say to her that I was probably the only one performing who carries indigestion tablets in his gig bag A good time, hopefully there'll be quite a few more.
 11.
Hi, I was looking at buying a new fender rumble 150 amp, i have a MIM fender P Bass with rotosound swing bass nickel plated 45's, I would appreciate any helpfull comments and advice, it would be used for small to middle sized gigs and play joy division, cure, killing joke style music. Thanks.
I'm assuming you mean the combo and not simply the 150 head Fender do in the Rumble range. I've a 350 Rumble, they're about £100 more expensive and 10kg heavier . A good gigging combo, that does what I ask of it. My band has just one guitarist and a drummer (oh, and a singer ) and it's never been above 4, we play small to medium size gigs, rock covers. Not sure what it'd be like with another guitarist but then that almost always depends on the guitarist.
 12.
Thank you, female
Crumbs man! Where have you been?!! He's had that there for ages BTW, never heard of the band
 13. I have 2 basses set up identically. Well, the actions may be slightly different But the tunings are the same.
 14. Damn! Wish I'd read this before, I've just disliked someone's comment I didn't mean to. Sorry.
 15. I was hoping not to say as it makes me feel quite sad It was BBC Radio Devon. I've actually started listening to the station quite a lot on a saturday morning as they like to promote a lot of local bands and musicians.
 16. Steve Lawson I was listening to local radio this morning and heard Steve Lawson playing a couple of songs. It's not usually what I'd like but I was incredibly impressed. The best thing I've heard on the radio on a Saturday in a very long while. That's all.
 17. I play from the standard notation that was on Dave Marks' website. Unfortunately it's not on there anymore. Think the original recording is in Db Major. I play the following notes together around the 12th fret area, as per the notation Db and F Db and Gb Bb and Db C and Eb Db and F Db and Gb Works a treat
 18.
What about the other lower leg?
It's what marks me out as unique, I stand on one leg. I am the Ian Anderson of the bass world
 19.
Does this only work if your cabs are on the floor?
I wondered that. I always put my combo on a table at a gig, I'm not keen on it playing just to my ankles and lower leg.
 20. http://www.fender.com/en-GB/news The rebate, as you can see and as Bankai has said, is from Fender themselves.
 21. Never broken a string, not even when changing them over.
 22.
To an extent all guitars have similarities,
Bit like bikes I suppose, there's not a lot you can do to the 'basics' of the design.
 23.
The point that's missing here is that people are generally very conservative in their outlook when it comes to stuff like this. Most players don't like basses that look too radical or stray from the formula, hence why (to the untrained eye), even more modern basses like most multi laminate, thru necked double soapbar 'superbasses' look essentially the same too. The same theory can be applied to anyone wanting a Fender - they do the job and look normal enough for the player to be comfortable. Anything that isn't moves the player outside of the comfort zone. It's the same reason why nobody mass produced a motorcycle with a fairing 'til the very late seventies. Riders before that simply wouldn't buy them.
This. People are very conservative about design. They like what looks 'normal'. I used to have a Hohner B2A. It was a cracking bass and very comfortable to play. Because essentially there was very little body to it it sat quite neatly. I haven't got it anymore because I gave up playing for several years and bought a fishing rod and other stuff with the proceeds . I'd have another though.
