1.
This thread is giving me a semi.
Get a grip of yourself man! Actually, ignore that.
 2.
I've got a couple of Behringer Biros They're alright for now, until I can afford something better, and they seem to break every time I step on them.
I thought I'd go for trusty and reliable so went for some Peavey Biros. But like with most things Peavey they weigh a bloody tonne. It causes great mirth at work as I walk along slouched to one side trying to counter the weight of my pens stuffed into my shirt pocket. And my back.....
 3.
The first amp I ever owned was a Laney just like the one in your photo. I attached castors to the bottom and took it to gigs on the bus. Sounded really awful.
I played through a Laney combo at a practice a few weeks ago, that sounded awful however much I twiddled the eq.
 4. The covers band have come up against the problem of a very unreliable drummer. Various options have been talked about including using backing tracks, pre-recorded live drums and drum machines. The backing tracks we're still looking into and we know someone who might record the drum parts for us. Questions then. Has anyone use a drum machine for use in a covers band, and if so what were your experiences? What are the pitfalls basically I suppose? And what is a good drum machine for the job? There are some fairly inexpensive ones out there. Cheers
 5. Great news mate. Really good to hear. BTW. Mrs Marvin is very upset you referred to her as a beast
 6. Awesome looking cab.
 7. A couple from the gig I did the other night.
 8.
What, when you're eating or when they are??
Both
 9.
and she eats like a sparrow.
We've got sparrows in the facia boards, make an awful bloody noise, especially when eating.
 10. and I don't even like sunburst P basses.
 11.
Though I have tried my hand at metal and like genre's, speed is not on my side haha!!
I played in a metal band over the weekend. Very unsatisfactory, the audience had a very low level of personal hygiene.
 12.
Nothing fancy, but that's kinda the point..
Totally the point when it comes to The Pixies. Good call
 13.
Well if you're depping for an originals band and have only had one rehearsal then that'd rank as a pretty tough gig in my books. The first thing to remember is that the rest of the band obviously reckon you have the pre-requisite amount of talent and 'balls' or else they'd have cancelled the gig. The second thing to remember is that nobody has ever been given the death penalty for playing a wrong note. Keep it simple, stay relaxed (easier said than done I know, but at least try ) and be prepared to stick a little run in to get you back to the right note if you get it wrong.

You'll be fine. Just remember, whatever happens you never beat this guy for unpreparedness... and moral support from the band. Have a good one.
Thank you for the support, much appreciated. Gig went well. I even managed to scoff down a plate of steak and chips before our set. Thankfully I prepared more than the guitarist in the vid
 14. Went OKish I suppose. Local pub that puts music on regularly, 3 bands. I was covering, half a set, in a friend's band (originals) whose bass player left a few weeks ago. We only had one rehearsal, so playing and all things musical it went well. Drummer is very good and made life very easy. Downside. Not very well attended despite being free. Even more alarming after the second support band the place emptied of anyone who was there for the music. We played to a handful of people. Furthermore, the drummer who also played in the support act before us was beginning to feel it towards the end, he'd been playing for 2hours. Just before the last song the guitarist showed a complete lack of tact and professionalism when he turned to the drummer and told him to stop being such a dick and quit with the stupid face pulling. Apparently people could see his 'face pulling'. What people these were I'm not sure because most of the people in the pub were down the far end. Upside. I did get a few quid that near enough paid for the meal the Mrs and I had, in a different pub, whilst the first support act was on. In fact the meal was very nice and the highlight of the evening really
 15. Got a gig tonight and don't go on until 11.30. Am I nervous? Hell yes. I'm bloody hungry but can't eat and I've got shooting pains running down my arms into my hands. Simply caused by fear of screwing up. It's not the people watching, I don't think, but letting down the other members of the band if I balls up really badly. This one is particularly bad as I'm depping, something I've never done before, for an originals band and we've only had one rehearsal. I have no mechanism for dealing with it Oh bugger! My mind's just gone blank and I can't remember any of the tunes!
 16.
What type of music is it? My stock setting was "rock", low mid boost, gain to suit and line at full. If you want to save it then press and hold the channel button and it will save it to a channel IIRC. If you don't want any effects then make sure that they are turned full anti-clockwise other something may be engaged.
That sounds about what I'll go for. The music is sort of prog rock/metal.
 17. Thanks Charic. I've got to use the Line6 on Friday. I'll try and get a 'fiddle' with it during set up, although that's doubtful as there are two other bands.
 18.
Did you check the line level I would think that whatever one you tried wasn't set up very well or was broken the last time I turned my 300pro up to half part of the church (where we were practicing) roof actually fell in
By line level, is that the Channel Level? That was on about half, which might explain it And I think one of the preset lights was on which may explain something else...possibly.
 19. Sorry Charic but... I used a Lowdown 300 last night and hated it. The guy who owns it uses an array of the sims and effects on it which could get you a half decent volume. I don't like playing with effects at the moment and as soon as I tried to get a clean sound, firstly it always sounded as if one of the effects was still in the background and secondly the volume disappeared. This is the second time I've used this amp, the first was in someones kitchen (largish kitchen 20ft x 20ft) and I had the master up over half way and it barely made a noise, my Ibanez SWX35 kicks out more. My Fender Rumble 350 could blow this particular Line6 into next month and it's got a much nicer tone. I'd never buy Line6, it's got to be the most horrid thing I've ever used.
 20. That's stunning.
 21. Just sold Wayne the Corvette he sold me 8 months ago. Again, he's a top bloke, great to deal with.
 22.
Oh, I should have asked this earlier - we had a situation where three of our four band members were wearing glasses. We were in danger of starting to look like Weezer, so we used to draw lots as to who could keep his glasses on the night. I astigmatic and have trouble working out distances without the gogs, so invariably got to keep mine - nothing like your giant bass player losing depth perception on stage, as a precursor to disaster!
I usually remove my gogs before playing, however, at one gig we'd rearranged the set list and I'd stuck it to the floor. I had to wear my glasses as I couldn't see that far
 23. NERVES!!!!!!! I'm a bag of nerves, and my next gig is 10 days away. All the best.
 24.
No tie?? Get out!! Shabby chic?? Get out!!
It's still better than the smock and straw that we all usually wear down here in the wilds of North Devon
