New covers band, only practised a couple of times. We did a small support slot, 5 songs, at The Olive Branch in Barnstaple. A very good first gig, we were all pleased and happy with it. The two main bands were quite young, 19 to 21, and so was most of the crowd therefore. Our few songs weren't really their cup of tea but we still went down very well. A glitch half way through the guitar solo of Rebel Yell actually did us a favour in a way, I think. The power to our amps cut out, our drummer kept going and did a sort of groovyish solo whilst we sorted out the problem, as soon as power was restored, about 30secs or so, we came right back in where we'd left off. We're thinking of keeping it in the set it went down really rather well As all the others, apart from my singer who is the same age as me, were about half my age, I did say to her that I was probably the only one performing who carries indigestion tablets in his gig bag A good time, hopefully there'll be quite a few more.

Thanks. [/quote] I'm assuming you mean the combo and not simply the 150 head Fender do in the Rumble range. I've a 350 Rumble, they're about £100 more expensive and 10kg heavier . A good gigging combo, that does what I ask of it. My band has just one guitarist and a drummer (oh, and a singer ) and it's never been above 4, we play small to medium size gigs, rock covers. Not sure what it'd be like with another guitarist but then that almost always depends on the guitarist.

I have 2 basses set up identically. Well, the actions may be slightly different But the tunings are the same.

I was hoping not to say as it makes me feel quite sad It was BBC Radio Devon. I've actually started listening to the station quite a lot on a saturday morning as they like to promote a lot of local bands and musicians.

I play from the standard notation that was on Dave Marks' website. Unfortunately it's not on there anymore. Think the original recording is in Db Major. I play the following notes together around the 12th fret area, as per the notation Db and F Db and Gb Bb and Db C and Eb Db and F Db and Gb Works a treat

People are very conservative about design. They like what looks 'normal'. I used to have a Hohner B2A. It was a cracking bass and very comfortable to play. Because essentially there was very little body to it it sat quite neatly. I haven't got it anymore because I gave up playing for several years and bought a fishing rod and other stuff with the proceeds . I'd have another though.

They probably had a load left over from making the EDB's (well known that Cort make some of Ibanez basses, isn't it? ) I've only seen an EDB once. Looked and sounded very nice.

Thanks Rich. I wasn't aware that the tone and volume controls emulated early Jazz basses. There's a JagVM in my local music store so I may just pop along and have a try. They seem to sound ok, I was at a gig on sunday and the bass player was playing one.

I'm looking at one of these, you know the Vintage Modified ones, to add to my collection It appears there is a separate tone control for each pickup. Is that right? Does this result in being able to get some 'odd' sounds, like tone rolled off on one but full on on the other? Just wondered, that's all. Cheers

As Mep said, 911tab. It trawls loads of free tab sites. May I also suggest downloading TuxGuitar, as then you can download the GuitarPro tabs/scores. Works a treat as it's got loads of features.

Bass lines are very dull. I'd much rather listen to a guitar solo. Who threw that?
