Never ceases to amaze me though how non-bass playing members of a band get all giddy and excited when you slap a couple of notes. I was mucking about at practice the other night and thumbed 3 notes on the E string and then all of sudden "we could do a Level 42 song!" someone said My reply was short. EDIT: thumbing 3 notes on the E string is about as far as my slapping goes

I've got an SR300 and it's a very good bass. HOWEVER, I wish I'd bought the Squier VMJ.

I'm down to 230k . However, there are now about 40+ posts that will make absolutely no sense at all. What was that? No change there? You cheeky lot

It's well designed, clean and without clutter. Also very easy to navigate around. Only two [i]very[/i] minor things I'd change and they're both words. 'I am a [i]committed[/i]...' it's just me but I always think that someone is just about to be taken away by men in white coats when the word committed is used. And under the Defence track, perhaps replace the word [i]defunct[/i] with[u] previous[/u]. Just minor quibbles but then again I'm a tw@t I shan't be visiting your site again though, as watching your videos simply reminds me how sh!te I am All the best

Pity it couldn't be the other way around, the bass hoisting the player. I hate to see instruments abused.

I've cleared everything bar about 8 I think. But then again I didn't have much on here to start with EDIT: just checked I'm actually down to 4

I thought I read somewhere that they were either very similar or basically the same bass just re-branded. Is this true?

It is rather a long list of things that seem to be making you unhappy with the band. Always a difficult decision to pack it in though.

I wouldn't bother with the Zoom multi effects pedal. They're good but there are better things you can put your money towards. TBH you'd only get a very crude approximation of what the heads and cabs sound like. Didn't stop me getting one though

Amp: Bass up a little, a truck load of low mids and cut back on the treble. Bass: Bass flat, mids about midway and cut all the treble. Sits well in the mix, can be heard really well without having to use a lot of volume so I'm not straining my amp. As an aside, I tried a mid scoop at practice the other night and completely disappeared, to compensate I had to use a lot more volume to be heard - no good competing with the frequencies used by other bandmates.

I'll hold my hands up (which probably makes a better sound then when they're on a fretboard ), I actually enjoyed learning and playing a Duran Duran song tonight - Ordinary World. (Not completely there, always takes me a while to get it completely). I've never liked Duran Duran, just not my thing, but I'll give what's his name - John Taylor? - his dues, he does create a nice bass line. This one may not be his best, and I'm probably way off the original (close enough though) but I've actually had to force myself not to have another go at it. I especially like the little fills. Just rang Stu at Bideford (he's now Bideford Bay Guitars). Remember I've been to his shop before and he is an absolute top bloke - my stupid forgetfulness. When I take it down he'll try and diagnose what's wrong with it with me there, for free, then give me an idea of cost and time. I'm feeling a lot happier. Thanks guys
