turn your back on playing music and go fishing instead? EDIT: punctuation.

Just the one for me. And I don't know but I might sell it (and not replace it).
Nostalgia (with some good riffs)...
Starfleet was damned good. Ah the memories. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

I think she's cracking. And am listening to her lovely album right now. I may even listen to it twice. Not entirely sure where some of the comparisons to X-Factor come in. Just because an artist does a cover version doesn't make them an X-Factro contestant, if that were the case then most of the bands we hail on here would be on the show, oh and a lot of us. To write her off as crap is quite frankly juvenile and ridiculous. I don't much like a lot of what Elton John ever did but I wouldn't be so stupid to describe him as rubbish. A lot of the criticism specifically on here sounds like the sour grapes of weekend wannabes who are still riled they never made it.
She looks like Marnie Scarlette, with whom we recently played the Halloween Horrorfest. Very clever with balloons ....
Oooooohhhhh! Does she make sausage dogs and all sorts of animals with them? -
I would like to proudly state that I am undoubtedly worser-er than you John.
This would require audio and maybe video prove.
Cr@p and proud
I'll pinch your second statement The guys I'm practicing with at the moment think I do the job well. All I can imagine is that their are some dire bass players around these parts.
Very, very nice WoT! That must have been a most pleasant show for you I had a gig recently where I shared a dressing room and stage with this lady. She's an absolute diamond.
-
We British are crap at this, we will bark and squeak at eachother and criticise others to our hearts are content, but when it comes to showing off our achievements we are undeniably CRAPOLA Anyway, I'm wondering if you can express, when you look back at your achievements so far as a bassist and musician, if you feel proud of anything you've done. Have you realised you are actually a pretty decent musician, done things that have made you proud and bear scrutiny. Of course we are not comparing ourselves to JJ, or Flea, Mark King or Scott Thunes, but we can surely say we are proud of our bass playing to some degree at some point. It's time to BIG UP YERSELF !! Of course, I can't start possibly by saying anything about myself, because it will look like I have a lack of humility and being arrogant, so over to you
With regards the second paragraph, uh, well, um, no ,no, no, no and no. I refer the honorable gentlemen to the statement in my sig Also you're bl00dy spelling is awful YERSELF? I thought you'd started a thread about Cat Stevens and misspelled his second name And as for CRAPOLA, if I spell check that the closest I get is CRAYOLA
No, it's useless. Try lemonrock - adds.
I got that impression from the site itself. It's a bit convoluted imo.

Never seen that one before. I found my bunch of reprobates using joinmyband.co.uk.
What a cracking post! I want one now! Thanks CoF
So do I Haven't even had any grumbles from Mrs Marvin about getting one. I think she might be angling for something.

I place my thumb behind the neck!

I haven't bought it for about 12 months. I'm afraid there's nothing in there that appeals. Interviews with bassists that either I've never heard of or they're in bands I'm not much fussed by. Most of the gear is high end so I'd never even consider buying it (because I simply couldn't afford it), hence an appraisal of it is of no interest to me. As for the look of it? Not mad keen on it. Apologies to the contributors who are also members on here but I get so much more info from this site.

How the hell do you learn Jumpin' Jack Flash?
OP...just follow the main gtr riff and then root notes with a step between. I really don't get the obsession with following a line perzactly... It is more important to get your line to work with your drums. That way, you sound instantly tight and you just check the format of the song and you're done .... and move onto the next song.
It was the end of a bad day and trying to fit too much in at the end of it. Should have gone to bed really It's a straightforward song. Whoever played the bass on the track didn't get too fancy with it so it's no great shakes to play something that sounds right and tight. Cheers -
This isn't too uncommon. Sometimes the group would want the tempo picked up a bit and would have the whole thing speeded up a bit in the final recording process, which results in 'inaccurate' notes. The Beatles did this occasionally. tg
Ha! Damned amateurs! Thanks for the tip, it would seem to explain the quite frankly bizarre tuning. -

The recording I have, if you try and play say the bass part behind the main riff (which ok is basically just playing a root note) then it sounds out of tune whether you play B or Bb or any note whatsoever. It just sounds out. Perhaps I should get my ears tested Can you get your ears tuned? -
I've come to the conclusion that there are some things I like and some things I don't like and some things I'm ambivalent towards. And that others take a contrary view in some instances from me, which I don't mind, I'm not one to force people to listen to what I like if they don't like it. I've also found that if I hold my breath and then build up a lot of pressure in my head my ears make a squeaking noise and I get a nose bleed. Carry on!

The damn thing's out of tune FFS. I thought it was punk that was played primarily out of tune. I knew there was a reason I hated the Stones /rant
Ooooooooo.... you are looking at East Yorkshire........ I'm afraid!.
Sorry reminded me of a joke Rich Hall told on Friday night. All the best Clarky. As usual I'm stuck in the provinces and unable to attend. Saying that I'm always in the provinces. Sorry I'm rambling.

Are you enjoying it? If so, I'd keep going and see how things pan out.

Mark Jay Smith, can't remember what the track is called, sorry.

Google's my home page. Don't know why really but it is. The vast majority of my online time is spent on here though. It's not healthy really.
Just signed up to basschat as it seems to have a lot going on on its pages. Have picked up the only real musical instrument again after a 15 year gap, although when I was 'playing' previous was a bit of a 3 note dud. Currently borrowing a Vintage V4 from a drummer. Must admit struggling a bit on returning to playing. Would welcome any advice or tips.!
First post from a person using a different user name Sounds a bit of a kn0b to me. I'm talking about myself btw.
Ashdown mag 300 1x15 combo in ours.
Don't be sad Last night I found that the amp supplied was a beat up Peavey TKO80. Jeez was it rough. Twiddle, twiddle and more twiddle and still couldn't find out how to make it sound good, although this was complicated by the strange buzzing noise made at random intervals
