1.
He's moved to Dublin because Marvin followed him around Teignmouth and he felt worried :-)
Have you been reading the around the courts cuttings in the local Teignmouth press
 2.
Seriously?!?! That's so cool. Did you take any pics?
I'm afraid it's entirely false. Sorry, I made it all up. I've only been to Teignmouth once and that was before I'd even heard of Muse. He does have a reputation for being a nice bloke though and he is tall.
 3. I visited Teignmouth last year, as it's not too far off, and bumped into to Chris. I mentioned I dabbled on the bass and he gave me an impromptu tour of his house and his collection of basses. Very nice man indeed. Quite tall though, felt like I was stood in a hole all afternoon.
 4.
Yes! I do! I even had a hot flush about an hour ago, I think that was the mention of Alain Caron though
Find somewhere draughty to sit. That's enough of hijacking this thread, I'm off to do the ironing - men's work and all that
 5.
I seem to have turned into a right miserable f***er lately. I can't think of any music-related threads I've contributed to recently where I've had anything nice to say, apart fom my build diary I must be in a fighting mood at the moment, verbally of course, I hate real fighting
Perhaps you're going through 'the change' . Men do you know, we're just not allowed to talk about it . Do you find yourself asking for the heating to be turned down?
 6.
We are a miserable nation.
You speak for yourself I'm the happiest person I know............what a minute. No that's wrong. I'm the grumpiest person I know. Ignore that back as you were.
 7.
Of course not! I completely agree that he's not a househould name. Actually, if I had to be famous, I'd like to be famous like this - just to people "in the know" or people in my field (e.g. contemporary jazz)
Sorry, my post was slightly tongue in cheek . Although seriously, many of the 'names' in the bass world mentioned on here I'd not heard of before joining - even Jaco, Miller, Clarke, Wooten and so on.... As far as Janick is concerned I think I'll go with what Jakebass posted (minus the bit about him being a Facebook friend and chatting to him online ) And people keep referring to an article that I never read so I can't comment
 8.
Can I still slag off Alain Caron?
You wouldn't be you if you didn't
 9. I've got to be honest, I'd never heard of him before I joined basschat. Does that make me a bad person?
 10. The band I've just go into seems very laid back about things. No one is top dog, everyone is encouraged to bring their ideas in, and if you're not happy with something you just have to say. I'm chuffed to bits, we all seem to get along. With some practice we should have a good laugh when we get out gigging (fingers firmly crossed).
 11.
How is this CD longer than 2 minutes?
It's a double disc Must be just under a minute on each.
 12. The best of Def Leppard? What am I thinking of?
 13. Mates and I wanted to start a band only bass or drums left. Didn't have anywhere to put drums. Never played anything else.
 14. Bring back the brow! Please
 15. Cab, preferably on of these CAB!
 16. Well I'm very naughty and bite mine so I haven't a clue
 17. Yes! Please bring back brow. I miss the little fella
 18. Like it a lot. All the best.
 19. That's damned good stuff mate. Like it a lot.
 20.
Personally I really like the headstocks, compact and do the job they've got to do. I don't like classic Fender headstocks on a bass - way too big for what they do although they too do what they have to do.
Totally agree with you on that one. I only own one bass, it's an SR300. Does the job as far as I'm concerned. I find it really comfortable to play and can get all sorts of sounds out it. And the compact headstock is a very nice design feature - I love it!
 21.
I'm glad you're actually building something now after what you put in my bass build thread. It's a fun experience. I built a speaker cab too. It turned out pretty crap, mind but that's only because the teacher forced me to use completely the wrong sort of wood for the back lol.
Thanks EH.
Hehe, it's funny, initially, I wanted this bass to cost me very little. I though I could scavenge the Rockbass, get the body for low cost and put it together. But as I lived with the idea for a couple of months while the body was being made, my aspirations rose rather steeply and so did the cost. It was a completely runaway reaction, nothing I could do about it Have you got a build thread for your cab mate?
No build thread yet. I'm having to build it in my father-in-law's garage, I simply haven't got anywhere at home I can make that amount of mess So it's taking a bit of time getting anything done (so far it's just a few bits cut out unfortunately). When I've made some headway I'll get one up and running, assuming it goes to plan. As soon as that bass has orange strings on it you MUST post pics on here
 22.
Possibly rashly (given my damaged left hand), I took my DB along and did the whole gig with it. My first ever DB gig! We played for just under an hour and got a fantastic audience reaction. Really chuffed
Excellent mate.
 23. I'm not a very good player, but 6 weeks is a looooooooong time in anyone's book, especially if it's straightforward. I had first practice last night, and I know for a fact that the other member of the rhythm section didn't put in much practice before hand. Must admit it threw me a little.
 24. Certainly does surprise one how much a self build can actually cost. I'm currently slowly, and I stress slowly, building a BFM Jack10 - uh pay attention OP I know it's a cab but you know - and initially and naively I thought "this will come in well under £200, say £160". How wrong. It'll probably be around the £270ish mark. But like yourself silddx I want the best, so I've gone for the Baltic Birch ply as suggested which isn't cheap and I'll put the premium driver in. Just wish I had the time to get it finished quicker. As an aside, when we list down the cost of individual bits of a build why does it never look like it'll come out to as much as it actually does. Your list of parts for instance does look at first glance as if it would come out to over £1000. Looks like a quality job mate. Be chuffed you deserve to be.
 25. All of the ones suggested so far by potential band members, even the one I chose. Most of it's quaver, quaver, quaver. And I'm not referring to the crisp snack. I just get lost and forget when the changes are
