1. However, Vintage do seem to be one of the only brands where prices are going down which always an incentive.
2. The only thing I could add is that I tried a Vintage copy of a Warwick (ironically for this thread) and everything was fine apart from the weight, it weighed a ton. It put me off.
3.
Ibanez basses are sh*te,
I think there are a lot of people who would disagree with you. It's all down to personal taste over feel and sound as the quality isn't a problem. Some find them too light giving the impression that they are flimsy.
4.
I think I need to spend more time discussing what he is learning to play in terms of theory etc. That way he gets to learn the song, plus some transferable skills and ideas he can build upon at a later date. Thanks for the advice btw. Good stuff.
Does sound a little tricky. I've just started lessons, and so far my tutor is covering stuff I already know. However, I'm quite happy to go with it that way because I see every lesson as building from the previous, and I also have to practice for next lesson things that I would push to one side normally, in favour of learning some song.
5. Chuck and Huey and the Love Hate Set. Hell on Earth. Devil in a White Dress.
6. A follow on from Rock Dysfunction -- Rock Displace. The Shin Digs. The Knot Tiers. all manifestations must play Grounds for Divorce
7. The First Dance. EDIT: or The Last Requests

10. I haven't got one but it's definitely on the list. I don't need it at the moment, however, seriously considered one the Hydrive combos.
11. The Zoom definitely seems to be more accurate. Sometimes on the Korg the 'needle' will waver all over the place. I'll have to get the instruction manuals out to check things like Hz, being the technical idiot I am. Generally, it's not overly noticeable when playing but it was emphasised the other night at a lesson when I'd tuned up on the Korg and I was a little out from my tutor. I think the Zoom will be first choice.
12. One is a Korg GA-30 (small cheap little thing) the other is the tuner on a Zoom B2.1u pedal. Tune up on one and the other will then say you're slightly flat (sometimes sharp) and vice verca. I'm assuming it's because neither is particularly accurate as they are fairly cheap (i suppose).
13.
Plus one. Why won't anyone scam me? I'm fairly gullible. PS: Did you know the word 'gullible' isn't in the dictionary? You did? OK, then.
I never knew that.
14. I feel left out, I didn't get one.
15.
The cymbals are quite bad for that too.
oops.
16. I haven't used Chrome for some time now. However, never had a problem with it. It does seem that browsers tend to go through fits and starts. I change between Safari and Opera depending on which one is working best. Currently Opera is stupendously fast, I'm sure it won't last.
17. Jamming with a drummer once and he said he liked to get a clear few of my foot tapping to the beat so he knew he was in time I replied that my foot was tapping to his kick. He's a good drummer, works well with others, apparently, but another thing was I just couldn't pick out a rhythm. It's partly my inexperience, but I like a good solid sound from the drummer that's keeping time. (There's also the fact that too much symbol bashing f@cks about with my ear 'oles).
18.
...... superb rythems & style, a real unique one off was Andy Frazer, just love those bass lines.
I totally agree. I started listening to Free just about the same time I picked up the bass last year. Fraser's playing is just mint, and has really enthused me. I'm quite envious you get to play so much of his lines. All the best, in your hunt. I do know of a drummer kicking his heels at the moment but I think the trip from North Devon precludes him
19. I found a tutor, had two lessons so far. I was noodling around this afternoon and Mrs Marvin said she definitely noticed a difference (for the better). So lessons.
20.
I always liked the solo from Free's live version of Mr Big. Not strictly a solo, but the bass takes over the lead. Very simple but very effective. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGODVQmcEu8 About 4:15 in.

+1000 The legendary Andy Fraser on bass. It's certainly not very simple - try playing it note perfect with his feel.
My fav as well.
21. I don't consider myself to be either, as I don't feel I'm good enough (yet). If asked I generally say I'm learning to play bass guitar.
