1. I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking of because............I've never played a Fender. Oh the shame, I know, I'll leave now.
2. In all honesty I think my playing has the effect of driving most people away.
3.
Oh there was a girl who my singer tried to hook me up with. Her name was Angela, she was all blonde hair and red lips and tits, and as dopey as you can imagine. This was in the USA, and she first asked me what I was doing over there (having just seen my band perform!). I told her I was working at McGuire air force base as a stunt pilot. "Oh really? Wow!" she cooed. I went on to tell her that I was an English Language graduate and to combine my two loves I became a specialist in skywriting, and that my post at McGuire was in order to teach the American pilots to punctuate correctly. Because cursive is fairly straightforward once you've got the hang of flying the plane, but semicolons are hard to write and often pilots who can write one don't know where it's appropriate to use it. Etc. She stood up to about half an hour of this before making her excuses and backing away.
that's brilliant.
4.
It will never sport any chrome, chrome is only for guitars
Tish, tish. I think you must have suffered a bump to your noggin' man.
I am very tempted to go for gold, as it were.
'Going for, going for, going for gold. ' All sing along now.
5. Gold NO! I think I might go with AH on this one and say Chrome, for possibly two reasons. First to carry on the 'shinny' theme with regard to the mirror scratch plate (you are having a mirror scratch aren't you? That is what you said? ) Second, it may look too similar to the fretless corvette.
6. Note to self. Do not buy the Daily Mirror on Saturday. Not that you ever do, stick to those broadsheets (not literally).
7. Look at the size of those frets! I bet it buzzes a lot.
8.
I vote yes but there maybe more than a little natural bias on this site!
I can't imagine what you're talking about
9. When I picked up the bass again last year, initially I didn't have an amp at all and in some instances it frustrated me as I couldn't hear what I was playing at all, so didn't know if I was playing correctly. But I haven't played un-amplified for ages now so don't know TBH-
10.
White, black and gold?? How classy can one be?
Well, try it but if I don't like it you'll have to change it I like the body shape looks the business. The black one on this thread looks like the neck doesn't go very far into the body or am I not looking at it correctly? I must admit to preferring minimal and or sleek design or industrial. Nice review of the Rockbass always wondered what they were like.
11. You should be rightly chuffed with the new site Stuart. I had no problems at all with it, it looks great as well. I found your bio quite interesting. I remember those Axe ads and almost bought one. My first bass came from a small music shop that was in Litchdon Street (just off the square in Barnstaple?), can't remember what it was called. I remember the bass but not the shop's name that is. Transcriptions are good as well. It's always a treat to find transcripts you can rely on as accurate. Cheers Rich
12. Gold. Hmmmmmm. I'll need convincing.
13. In general, I have to say it really doesn't bother me. However, if it's causing the running of the site a problem that's something for admin et al to look into. In fact some of them are quite attractive.
Most of the room is taken with the profile stuff on the left. There aren't many sigs I've seen that go lower than that with a one line post. Except mine
Now, to you Nigel. Put it back how it was, if you can please. That just looks untidy. And your 'some leads and fingers' (or whatever it was) and Brum Brum, are missing, so you need to sort that out as well.
14.
Basses headstocks just look better due to being less cluttered but having nice big bits of metal on them. I`ve got an Ibanez SR series and the whole thing is just gorgeous for a " cheap " bass, the Ibanez guitars just ain`t as damn pretty. I do love a big top horn too.....oooooeeerrr misses!!!!
Oooooh that's lovely. I've got a sparkly red one.
Simply NO.....SORRY I have many many many many in fact toooo many and hanging on a wall the telecaster or archtop look significantly more attractive....but maybe thats my feminine side All hate mail on a postcard to.......
Ah well telecasters are my weakness as well
15. Brilliant thread EH. I've been following it for a while now. The furthest I would have got is to have drawn out a shoddy outline of a bass I might like (although it wouldn't have looked even close) and then thrown said drawing in the back of a draw with my 'dreams' and to-do list. All power to your power tools.
16. If I walk into a music store I tend to find myself bypassing the guitars - unless there is something truly eye catching - and stand gawping at the basses. I know it's a generalisation thing but on the whole the long neck et al make it look a more elegant instrument, to me. Put a strat next to a P-bass, I go for the P-bass (although I do have a soft spot for Tele's, but not Tele basses, damn it I've screwed me own argument ). And who voted no? I'll find out and have you thrown to the mods
17. I've just placed my bass in the living room, resting against the sofa. Proportionally and generally aesthetically I find it very pleasing to my eye. And in general I think I find bass guitars more pleasing to the eye than guitars. Basses seem more balanced, more elegant. I find guitars stubby and sometimes maybe cluttered (not quite the word I was looking for but close as I could get). This isn't an anti-guitar thread more a question of design. EDIT: I do apologise for the poor English 'Proportionally and generally aesthetically' that's not very good is it now
18. I'm almost one year old on Basschat, I'm so excited. I'm not expecting a present or anything, just told to shut up and stop being so annoying. It's good to see so many new faces. Personally I think people have heard of Ped's plans for a Basschat shop! Basschat's a great place, if it wasn't for this bit of cyberspace my bass would probably just collect dust, it really has kept me interested in playing. Although my playing would be better if I spent less time on here Lots of great people on here new and old.
19. That was dead cool, I really liked it.
20. When they sound or look like they need changing.
21. I quite like her material, she's miles ahead, IMO, of some more hyped artists. All the best to her I say.
22. Middle I suppose, but it's not something I've really focused on. Generally just try and make it all sound right. It could be the case I change half way through a song maybe. I am nowhere near using 3rd or even 4th fingers, I just tend to tuck them up out of the way to make them look tidy.
23. All the best, and have a good time
24. I was tempted to buy a Vintage, a clone of a Warwick. It looked good but I only got as far as picking it up. It weighed as much as a small planet.
