Playing bass wearing black silk gloves - for BETTER TONE
Marvin replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
Last week I ordered some of these thin black silk gloves like Etienne Mbappé uses. They arrived today. I tried them and to my total surprise they are amazing! They are so comfortable and feel really natural to play with. I can still play very fast riffs with total accuracy. Now, I only bought them because I'm a slag and they look real sexy. Etienne wears them because he has massively acidic sweat and he kills his strings within the first three numbers of a set and he now swears by them. If you have this problem, I can't recommend them highly enough. I am really looking forward to playing a gig with them now! These are the ones I got and I ordered a size smaller than my hands, I think - ie. small and my hands are about small/medium. http://www.jasminesilk.com/product_info.php?products_id=36 OK tell me which half of this is Gloves. I just recorded this tonight to give them a test. How cool is this?!
He's one cool looking man, I like his jacket as well, oh and the bass, that is mega cool ( probably because it goes with the jacket). Your recording Nigel, well I couldn't tell which was which, but it didn't really capture my attention like paul h's, his piece was much more um.....intriguing. These gloves, do they go with knee length boots? I've got a pair of knee length boots now and they could look quite dandy together. -
If I've got to be serious, then Maple. The rosewood on Paul Simenon's seems to 'fit' better as it's got the black headstock. Just my opinion of course, and what do I know I play an Ibanez and it's bright red and I don't like bright red basses. Oh bl00dy hell! Hope that helps.
Me after the Sp*rs 'shirt of hurt' ordeal, ripping up that tatty lilywhite rag. I like this photo because (1) I am destroying that abomination and (2) it gives the illusion that I have muscles, whereas I am in fact an overweight, out-of-shape 40-something grey-haired old git
Ooooo Clarky, you're all man. -
Dear On the Edge, This behaviour is totally normal. The actions of your bandmates are through sheer jealousy over your awesome awesomeness. May I recommend the use of violent knee upthrusts to the groin region should you feel the need. Alternatively, if you have any female band members, a forcable punch to the breasts would do well to get your point across. All the best, Chuck Norris.

This is perfectly normal behaviour, remember that they are wrong, but like a 3 year old who is crying for no apparent reason, if you ignore them long enough, they will go away. Or even better, lock them in a cupboard until they appreciate you. Or you could go all Lemmy on your bass for a couple of gigs until they realise that it might be better if you just played the one note at a time, and weren't all good on guitar and stuff....
Dear Bass Agony Aunt (both of you). May I first thank you for your prompt response at this most stressful of times . I have taken on board your advice and decided upon a course of action. 1) extreme violence, ergo violent knee thrusts, promptly followed by ignoring them by locking them in a cupboard. I'm beginning to feel better already. Thank you Slightly less On the Edge.

Dear Bass Agony Aunt. I have an uncontrollable urge to 'lamp' the other members of my band one, for comments such as 'you only play one note at a time' and 'you only play bass 'cause you were crap on guitar!' Is this propensity to violence normal? Please help before I do something they regret. Yours On the Edge
