1. Well it was mildly distractingly toe tapping enough, to be able to avoid conversing with fellow passengers in the lift it's being played in.
  2. My SR300. Bottom of the rung but a cracking bass for the pennies.
  3. I'm always tweaking with the EQ. It's just me, I start wondering 'what if I just...' and I do.
  4. Haven't a clue, I'm actively trying to avoid getting roped into a band at the moment. So perhaps being 'offish' is not a way to be successful. Oh and perhaps when a potential band mate says they want to play a certain genre so other potential band member responds with a list of possible covers that are as long as your arm, first band type person says no to all of them. That's another no no.
  5.
Your mrs is absolutely correct, it's all DI. No mics were involved.
Wish I never posted that now, she's like the who's got the cream now .
  6. Mrs Marvin said, and I quote ' it sounds like it's been farted about with!' But she's a euphonium player, so what does she know (well a lot actually and she's got a handy right hook! ) I think though that may have more to do with DI and not micing amps, possibly, as she said she didn't feel any feel from where it was recorded 'sounds like it's gone right to the desk' she said. Not very well explained but I hope you get the gist. For me it did sound a little, well clinical. But let me have more of a think and I may come up with a better description.
  7.
Well I sold 'em all I'm afraid, but I'll give you a quickie at the next bash if you like
If that's a pass, I'll warn you now I'm very high maintenance.
  8.
Haha. Yup. Spot on.
No t-shirt then.
  9.
You rang? Now where's the pink?
Blimey Clarky what've you done to yourself? Wash that dye out of your hair and get rid of that moustache it doesn't go with your image.
  10. 1. Trace 2. POD 3. V Bass I'm making a wild guess BTW. If I'm right do I get a Basschat t-shirt?
  11.
Likewise, I ditched my Fender twin 4x10, expensive power soak, and all my effects and went for a POD. I can't tell the difference either, in fact I get sounds out the POD I prefer and i can taylor all of them to exactly how I want them. The POD is my Desert Island piece of kit.
Late to the party again I'm afraid . I have very limited experience in all things technical, however I did have a very interesting chat with a music shop owner a couple of weeks back. He was a real tech nerd (and a really top bloke) and he explained how Line 6 create the 'digital models'. Unlike my zoom which is basically a recording (it's a bit more in depth than that but it basically only emulates the end sound), whereas the Line 6 guys break down the whole signal from start to finish and recreate it at every point. That's why it sounds as good as it does, you get the whole thing. He said it was a fantastic piece of kit, and in the main most people can't tell it's a digital sound. Personally I'm a bit of both chap myself. The main problem I would encounter only using a pedal is that the venues I would be playing wouldn't have a PA at all If you don't need to lug around rigs then don't. I'm certainly a fan of any technology that proves itself to do the job. I is no ludite.
  12. Great news. And another entry in my tenuous claims to fame All the best CB
  13. B2A threads seem to be appearing once a month now, and just go to remind me how much I miss my old one
  14.
Can't get much simpler than mine, which is what I think Marvin was referring to (thanks, mate!) but it's not in my sig any more:
No problem mate. I'll be expecting the cheque any day soon then?

  16.
I prefer your layout!
I like your layout, uncluttered, white background, find everything - cool.
  17. Saw it went on for 2 whole hours and couldn't be arsed to even start watching it. I fell asleep to some movie with Vin Diesel in it.
  18.
Birds tweeting in my garden. Lovely!
Honestly there's one singing his heart out from the top of next door's large fur tree.
  19. The Very Best of Dean Martin - the best of the Capitol/Reprise years. Cool as
  20.
Dear Bass Agony Aunt, My hands profusely sweat whilst playing bass in summer. What can I do about this? Or is it natural lubricant for a fast neck? Carl
Dear Carl You may find this thread 'ere of some help Gloves
  21.
Presume you don't mean BassChat Marvin?
Cheeky. I wandered myself what I might have been up to
  22.
Last week I ordered some of these thin black silk gloves like Etienne Mbappé uses. They arrived today. I tried them and to my total surprise they are amazing! They are so comfortable and feel really natural to play with. I can still play very fast riffs with total accuracy. Now, I only bought them because I'm a slag and they look real sexy. Etienne wears them because he has massively acidic sweat and he kills his strings within the first three numbers of a set and he now swears by them. If you have this problem, I can't recommend them highly enough. I am really looking forward to playing a gig with them now! These are the ones I got and I ordered a size smaller than my hands, I think - ie. small and my hands are about small/medium. http://www.jasminesilk.com/product_info.php?products_id=36 OK tell me which half of this is Gloves. I just recorded this tonight to give them a test. How cool is this?!
He's one cool looking man, I like his jacket as well, oh and the bass, that is mega cool ( probably because it goes with the jacket). Your recording Nigel, well I couldn't tell which was which, but it didn't really capture my attention like paul h's, his piece was much more um.....intriguing. These gloves, do they go with knee length boots? I've got a pair of knee length boots now and they could look quite dandy together.
  23. If I've got to be serious, then Maple. The rosewood on Paul Simenon's seems to 'fit' better as it's got the black headstock. Just my opinion of course, and what do I know I play an Ibanez and it's bright red and I don't like bright red basses. Oh bl00dy hell! Hope that helps.
  24.
Marvin, unbelievably you have out-done me in the rubbish joke stakes!
Yeaaaah, I've done better than Clarky, I am honoured. Or is it I've done worse? Whatever it is my grammar is getting as bad as my jokes
