1.
Why does it always seem to be the drummers?
I thought exactly the same as I read the OP. It may because they are not musicians and feel somewhat excluded in a band environment.
  2. Really got to try and get back and use a pick again, they seem somewhat foreign after coming back to bass after such a gap. Which is even more odd considering I always used to use a pick.
  3.
- you could try "downsizing" , then your options are still open .
If I downsized I'd end up with a ukulele, I've got so little gear
  4. I only keep noodling on my bass to fool myself I have a legitimate reason to log on to basschat
  5. Welcome to basschat. Like the avatar and the bass.
  6.
a Gorilla 20w combo. The amp had a "growl" knob and a sticker that said "Hear this Gorilla growl", which i found rather embarrassing
I had one of those as well. Along with a Westone Spectrum11. I sold it to a friend years ago, he's still got it, he wanted me to buy it back off him. I think not.
  7.
Here's me:
That's it, no more swearing there are children on the forum for definite.
  8. I thought that to mention its name was akin to swearing on here.

    Hi

Welcome to basschat. I'm afraid I get amply confused with 4 strings, adding any more would be disastrous.

    Hello

    Welcome to basschat
  11. Marvin

    hi there

I can't play either, there are lots of us on here who can't play apparently so you're in good company Welcome
  12.
Yeah ok. ....... especially when he's in thumb position.
I think personal antics are best left to off topic.
  13. Freebass? All this talk of drugs is irresponsible!
  14.
However it really pisses me off when I'm playing Upright.
Do you normally play lying down?
  15. If I can't hear it it's not a problem. What would happen if I saw J-Lo's arse curving across my field of vision whist playing is a completely different matter
  16.
Hope this helps http://www.studybass.com/tools/chord-scale-note-printer/
I've just had a dabble on this site, and I definitely wouldn't buy a book because it does it for you and for free. I keep on meaning to get that Jazz Theory Book, it's been recommended before (actually to me).
  17. Excellent move, welcome to basschat. It's full of advice.
  18. My collection is probably small compared to most on BC, but out of the 250 or so albums I have, only 1 is live - Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense. I just don't even consider them. As others have said, a lot are messed about with so are not as live as one might think they are. Also a lot of the time they're a bit like greatest hits albums, so you miss those hidden gems on the studio albums.
  19.
Fair comment, I probably should thin the herd! Not in a hurry though
No, not a fair comment, just one made with my tongue firmly implanted in my cheek. No offence intended mate
  20.
+1000 P-bass with flats. I like it some much I have 4 of them!!!!!! (all wearing TI Flats)
Show off.

    Hello

    good welcome to this forum.
  22.
Oh god, the Royal Fail strikes again.
I work for the idiots and I am less than impressed that they managed to loose a box containing a stereo, it was approximately 3ftx2ft. How the @(£&*& do you loose that. As for 'Royal Mail Customer Service' what a contradiction in terms that is. I'm always telling folk if they have a problem to ring our customer service line. I'm not going to do that anymore, I'm more likely to suggest they impale themselves on a sword as that's less painful. Sheer incompetence. 15 years ago I used to be able to say with confidence that x item would turn up in y time. Now I'm saying 'well it might get there and it might not!'
  23. Ooooooh, I want one. Bad GAS
  24.
Well I'm effing sick of it, its nursery rhyme melody, sing-song lyrics and everything overcompressed and autotuned. Horrible characterless drivel (IMHO).
With you all the way there JLP. I loathe that tune, I retune the radio as soon as there is even a hint of it being played. Myself is listening to some Stevie Ray Vaughan.
