1. Welcome to basschat. And no, never sell your gear, I did that once, very silly. All the best
2. £240 can get you an Ibanez SR300. It's what I've got and TBH it is for it's money very good. OutToPlay Jazz rates them, and if you look at his regular kit and that he makes his living out of music, I think that speaks for itself. If you're looking at saving up to £1500 then try as many as you can. You may blow the lot, you may only lighten your wallet by a few hundred quid. Price doesn't seem relate to how an instrument works for a player, especially these days.
3.
Thanks all. The missus and I are big 80s/90s Brit TV fans (Lovejoy, Wooster and Jeeves, Poirot, Campion); if anyone has recommendations for others we'd be happy to Netflix them. Yeah, I'm just looking for an excuse to hop on a plane to England for a bass trade... And to completely derail my own introduction thread: if someone says he is from Shetland, he means the island and not some area of London, right? Seems like people on this board would probably know
You've got brilliant taste in TV. I watched so much Jeeves and Wooster not so long back I was going around saying things like "what's a chap supposed to do?" and lots of "bally people". And yes, Shetland is just off Scotland.
4. What a bargain that is.
5. There are a couple of suggestions on a previous thread. I've got the Kinsman bag thingy. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=81923
6. Welcome to basschat, enjoy yourself.
7. Welcome to basschat. I like the avatar.
8. Being serious, which is unlike me. If it happens again after changing socket then the problem may lie with the appliance or equipment. Whatever causes it to trip you should stop. We had a new consumer unit installed in our house when we built our extension and the sockets are all covered by RCD's and they have tripped a couple of times. However, I've up to now worked out what the problems were. First time it happened it was because Mrs M left the kettle too close to a socket and the steam got into the socket and caused it to trip. The other times were due to a faulty iron. I should imagine that that was moisture again caused by water or steam getting into the appliance. I If however, I couldn't have identified the reason I would have called in an electrician to test the circuits.
9. I to plug the Zoom in via a USB, which is why I can't work out what's going on. Unless of course the GarageBand itself has some sort of issue. I was thinking about monitoring through my practice amp to see if that stops it. Or maybe there is an inaudible, to me, hum emanating from the active circuitry of my bass.
10. There's nothing wrong with wearing glasses. Helps me see that that is NOT Vera or Nora.
11. Really Obvious Chinese Kit But A Stupendous Sound.
12. The only thing I record is a bass part over a drum loop, just so I can actually hear myself playing. I use a Zoom B2.1u as an interface. Create a Real Instrument track, Input source set at Stereo 1/2 (built-in input), Monitor: On with Feedback Protection. When recording there is a constant buzzing noise (which comes out during playback as well) and I get constant pop-up messages stating that Feedback has been detected and advices I turn feedback detection on - it would appear to have turned itself off . I've also got Cubebase LE but haven't used it yet, I assume that doesn't have built in drum loops. Any ideas please?
13. Ibanez Incredibly balanced and never ever zigzags?

TAB
That was actually me Marvin, who asked for the Maggie May tab. The fact that I couldn't find it is what prompted me to start this thread.
15.
Bad monkey, no more pretty pictures for you now. Its going to be Vera Duckworth and Nora Batty from now on
Please, no. I promise not to touch wiki. I've a horrible feeling that doesn't sound good
16.
That looks great, but I think I'm gonna need a bigger pouch for college books, leads and what not. Thanks for the suggestion though! Is it this one? Looks perfect for what I'm after, cheers!
Yes, but I think that's an old image. Mine looks more like this. Kinsman Guitar Bag (looks exactly like the bass bag).
17. I've got a Kinsman Premium Bass Guitar Bag. Kinsman You have to scroll down a bit to the Premium cases. I got it from Gear4Music, and I think it was about £30 or £40. Guy in my LMS actually complimented me on how good a bag it was the other day. It's very good for the money.

TAB

I agree with Thunderbird, that part of the problem is that there is a lack of notation for a lot of the material that many of us like. However, I was on the Theory and Tech forum just now and someone had kindly tracked down some TAB for Maggie May for someone else. It's on 'Songster' and it actually plays it for you as well as providing the TAB. I've been starting to learn to read notation all evening and when I came to try and read this TAB as songster played the tune I struggled to figure out what the hell was going on. Whereas I was beginning to get the hang of reading notation. I dislike TAB, unfortunately for some genres it's all that's available if your ear is naff or you're in a rush.
19. Cool as mate I'm with OldGit though and am going to be editing and adding Well done
20. Members post transcriptions on this forum, so it seems the appropriate place to ask for transcriptions. Requests get more response here. Furthermore if it was a problem for the mods or the admin team then I think they may have had something to say about it already.
21.
I'm like a rat up a drainpipe
I wouldn't go telling too many people that they may get the wrong idea
22.
Now, could anyone tell me, what's all the fuss about?
Apparently Gomez asked if there was any TAB for what they wanted him to play
23.
let's see some pics of that Vigier!! Welcome to Basschat :0)
See, told you.
24.
No,its a Custom Shop Telecaster LOTTO Bass,approx $6K.
I might struggle to get that past the household finance committee
