Computers are a pain in the arse and rarely do what you want/expect them to do.
Ain't that just the truth!
Yes. I do the same - and I don't even like tab that much. The worst thing is most of my bass sheet music books have the tab underneath. It's just like putting the TV on at a party, you can't help but look at it. One day I'll go through and black marker the whole thing out.
I bought a bass tuition book (now there's a novelty ) recently and it starts off with notation, so I think 'very good, no chance of being lazy here', and then half way through introduces TAB underneath. Which I thought ridiculous. Can I borrow your black marker please?

If I've wanted to learn a song I have always in the past and now turned to TAB. Unfortunately it seems to be the only available resource for the songs I wish to learn, and of course these days it's free. But, I agree with Les literally heaps of it is wrong. I'm not a very good player but even I can hear when something is completely out. This week however, I've started on my new challenge to learn to read music. I've only been going for 2 days so I've only got to very simple bars of a max of 4 notes - you get the idea, stuff that starts you off counting etc. I've got to say though proper notation just gives you so much more information. I've been that inspired but just the little I've done I am most definitely going to pursue this. My ear isn't very good so I've always relied on TAB, unfortunately it's just a list of notes and creates bad habits. Part of the reason for me wanting to learn to read music is to stop referring to the notes as 'string and fret no.' and instead to them as notes. I'm going to stop now because I could go on forever. TAB -use with caution.

Welcome to the forum. You may want someone to look at that instrument in the photo. It appears to have too many strings, and they're a bit skinny and by the looks of it it's tuned an octave too high. Hmmmm you might be able to fix it but I don't hold out much hope.

Unfortunately my ears are awful . There never seems to be much transcribed material for The Faces or early Rod. Shame i like it.
ooh yes please! you say these are colour samples, does that mean the shape is a real bass?
I like them as well. In some ways I hope it's a fictitious bass, otherwise my wallet may lighten a little.
The bongo looks a lot like daddy...
'Tis a fine looking instrument isn't it. I'll go further and say proportionately the bongo is more aesthetically pleasing than the little fellas.

Links from 911 Tabs This is the only thing I could lay my hands on. None of them are particularly good actually. Sorry.

Then there's the next category of course, those of us who only play bass and that's it. If my memory serves me right I think I know 3 chords on the guitar. So I'd be limited to some punk and a Status Quo tribute act. Other than that it's bass bass bass. (And I'm not very good at bass either).
P.S. No guitar sadly, well not yet anyway...
Do not be tempted by those dark ways. You must resist I'll have to admit to leading a sheltered life and actually had to google 'Crazy Train' to find out who performed it  . So despite my ignorance, very good had the right feel to it.

Welcome. An EB3, good taste. Otherwise I'm about as much help as an ashtray on a motorcycle.

Guitarist tunes between numbers - what to do?
Totally. However,if you don't have spare strings on you,or you don't have enough time to change them for whatever reason, you should know the instrument well enough that you can shift your parts to another position on the 'board.
That would be asking a lot from some people . Good job it wouldn't apply to drummers. Surely carrying spare strings at least is like carrying the spare wheel for your car. It's something you always do. (Of course there will always be times when you've just been caught out). -
Add a Squire Jazz of some sort to OutToPlayJazz's list and then I'd be heaven. The Epi's would be just the ticket for my Andy Fraser impersonations. As for the jack point on the Ibby, they're so skinny it may be the only place it can be located. And yes the SR300 is good. I can't see me ever getting rid of mine.

Just cracking. Simple as that.

My dad used to use Plastic Padding for everything. Unfortunately it does leave that fibre glass smell for some time.

An Ibanez man, good choice. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forum. The Vigier will go down well with Ped I do the same, practice using a Zoom with headphones. I tend to practice when the kids are in bed, so it works well.
Hello mate, hope you like the weather here on Basschat, it's warm and cosy and very sunny. It's only where the server is locatated that the weather is sh*t. Anyway, being from Vegas, you may know of another Basschat member, Craig Martini, who is rather awesome. Cheers.
Myself and Mr Martini are exactly the same age, to the day, we are Bass Twins . Unfortunately for me Craig got all the talent , he is ridiculously good and a nice bloke. -

I tried to saw the end of my finger off the other week, that was quite painful. Wasn't helped that, because I work outside, my hands dry out a lot which makes the skin split open, on every finger. I now moisturise regularly <said in camp voice > .
