Glad you got away without too much damage..! Years ago we were doing a gig in a theatre. The Singer / rhythm guitarist thought he'd be very cool during an instrumental by leaning against a curtained wall on the side of the stage. Only, it wasn't a curtained wall. It was just a curtain. He disappeared into the inky blackness of a storage area, landing on a pile of theatrical detritus with a comical crash. Ouch.
One shouldn't laugh I know but you've described it so well.
Amy MacDonald, 'Mr Rock'n'Roll'
Very good album as well. Listened to the new one last night, and it's not that good. I was rather disappointed.
i once walked into an estate agent (a really small, shoddy, no business estate agent in a quiet bit of swansea) to hold open the door for a rather badass looking old man wearing 3/4s and a hat... who apparently was Robert Plant. i'm fairly sure bonnie tyler keyed my mates car (he left it outside her drive for a minute when we were unloading some stuff for a skate comp on the sea front, came back and it had been totally keyed!) i served charlotte church and gavin henson in boots, twice within the space of 5 minutes (he forgot to buy batteries) and failed to recognise either of them on both occasions (much to the amazement of all of my colleagues). oh and once i walked into the hospital for some clinical lecture and jo whiley was doing her morning broadcast from a table in the foyer... about 10 other students gathered to watch her and we almost managed to put her off (accidentally! we were just curious) live on radio one... i waved and i'm fairly sure she flicked the bird at me
What else were you wearing? Or was it just the boots? Flicked you the bird? I need to get out more or buy a book on modern terms used by young folk.

Completely different I know, but the SR300 I have is made from Agathis and it sounds great.

Personally I'd go for the CV. They get good right ups and there are members, like Bass5, who think they're the dog's wotsits (with a bit of tweaking). Great mod there Bass5.

Mumford and Sons album.

maxrossell on here was on about using guitar amps instead of bass amps once I think. But it may have had something to do with refusing to pay out for extra equipment.

Hands Off!

A very interesting idea. As with Ray might hold fire, but I still think it's a really innovative idea. (someone's now going to say it's already being done somewhere else on the net ).
I thought I'd posted this already, but it's not in the thread... So as well as nearly being in a band with John Bonham's daughter, when I was 5 my best friend was Nicky Hallam, since better known as DJ The Head from the Stereo MCs. We only stopped being friend because our birthdays were either side of the September year divide and so when we went to Junior school he was in the year above me which at that age will kill a friendship dead. It was here that he met Rob Birch the singer. Also at the same school as me was Bruce Wooley who wrote "Video Killed The Radio Star", and Paul Brindley who played bass in The Sundays. The strange thing is that while I was very active musically at school trying to get my fairly terrible band involved in every musical activity going, I don't remember any of the others doing anything musical at all except for Rob Birch who was the guitarist and singer in a punk band called The Blitz Kids.
I can't think of anyone at school who did anything remotely musical. The best I can do from school is that one of our year is now the leader of the local district council, he always was an opinionated idiot. Bloke I went to college with, I can only remember his first name it is Christopher, is something of an important bod at the Royal Opera House. Everyone used to take the mickey out of him at college, more fool them.

I'm not really a Fender man but they do look gooooood. My eldest (5) has just said that he'll lend me the money to get the red P with the black scratch, it's his favourite, apparently black is a bit dull.

Sorry I thought this was about something completely different. Wondered why it was in General Bass Disc.

Shouldn't this be in the 'Bassists Wanted' forum?

Definitely one to consider. I was invited to an acoustic jam session recently and that sort of thing would fit the bill and come in handy for other things. EDIT: Just checked with Mrs M. Apparently I won't be getting one.

I'm happy with my current bass, it suits my needs. But I'm not 100% happy with it. It's a fine instrument for the money and would recommend one if anyone asks. Sometimes it just lacks a little something. If I were to be gigging regularly I would probably look for a different bass, but would try my hardest to find one that was as close to 'ultimate' as possible. I don't get GAS, because I think an instrument is better or out of desire just to have it. I tend to invent 'valid' reasons as to why I need to have a different bass. These have so far been shot down in flames through the application of common sense and the intervention of Mrs M.
Well, it's true! Unfortunately I've got to a point now where the poor reading skills really slow down the whole process. Next step: up my game when it comes to reading!
I know where you're coming from. I understand all the 'symbols', but there's no way at the moment I could sight read a piece. I'd have to sit down and work it out bit by bit and hopefully have the piece of music available to make sure what I think is being played is what is actually being played. But then again I've only just started trying to read, music that is.
Yeah, it's worth checking those threads out. Theory is accessible without reading. I don't read well - it just takes a little longer!
Don't let MajorMinor hear you say that . This is of some help. Studybass When you say cheap book what sort of price have you in mind? For £10 you may be able to pick something up on Amazon.
I don't know much, If anything about either bass im afraid - But i definitely think your bass is a whole lot nicer. That rickenbacker doesn't look all that, Don't be tempted by the name!
I agree with MythSte. Is there any particular reason you want to get rid of the Van der End Jazz?
