1. That's not fair
2.
Hmm, has anyone established any facts at all yet. there has been talk ofmocking PM's. Are the Mods able to access Pm's to see if this was true. I think whoever was doing the mocking should probably be asked to speak up. why etc. Am curious to the outcome of this.
Come come now this is the age of the modern media, let us not allow facts to get in the way of a good story. Whatever next The Daily Mail would go out of business if it just stuck to facts!
3. If it's not worth practising I may as well sell up now, as I will always be sh1t!
4.
You can sit on my shoulders? (tries to muster a joke about two mindless heads between your legs)
Ta!
5. Could I possibly reserve a seat at the front? I do so much hate it when I always get stuck behind the tall bloke and can't see what's going on.
6. And in true rolling news style, we shall ask our correspondent if there is anything new to report despite the fact we all know that there is nothing new to report. Just make sure he gets a cup of tea. And if anything does 'pop up' make sure you cover it up quickly.
7. Do you do long distance visits Jake? To say the remote south west. Could do with some inspiration myself.
8. Welcome back.

Hello

Welcome to BC. I'm another old fart who struggles to keep up with all these new genres and sub genres
11.
What about The Brand New Heavies?
Very much prefer Brand New Heavies to Jamiroquai. BNH have a much better sound going on. Learnt a few of their songs just before christmas, got some really nice grooves. And if you get stuck Stuart Clayton has transcribed the Brother Sister album. There is also the fact that the singer(s) in BNH is much preferable to JK, especially N'Dea Davenport
12.
if the family have requested privacy it may not show up in the mainstream media? If it is a scam it seems a bit elaborate just to fleece £3 each off a bunch of Basschaters? Unless there is more to it? However conjecture is not good, and +1 to waiting for the facts.
Would appear a little elaborate. Just have to wait and see.
13.
Very easy to prove otherwise with a few simple answers. We'll see, I guess. Just doing our bit to protect the kind folk of BC from being misled and ripped off. Hamster is being entirely reasonable and sensitive, but as far as I know, he is still waiting. ped
I wouldn't be surprised if someone was trying to pull the wool over our eyes. It is after all a well known fact that bass players are some of the kindest and most generous people you are ever likely to come across. In all seriousness though, what Hamster has done is indicative of how the forum is run, and makes it what it is, a place to be proud of.
14. As well as being a great place - support, help, advice and humour - there's also some great music being created by members. I have over the last few days been listening to some of Sibob's, mythste, craigmartini and silddx's latest offerings just to name a few. Great stuff, as has been material from a lot of other members. I've actually downloaded (perfectly legal) sibob's and mythste's onto my iPod so I can look uber cool when people ask what is that you're listening to. As a boring old fart, I've got to at least try to keep up. So a big round of applause to Basschating people who are making beautiful music.
15. This may be in the wrong place, if so please move me on. I've been seriously (although not definitely) thinking about getting lessons, there's less fluff in the fluff tray of our tumble dryer than when I play. It may sound a dumb question, but are there any do's and don'ts when looking for a tutor? Any questions one should ask? We are after all a little different to guitarists , and thus have different needs. Or anything else you need to consider? Unfortunately there aren't many in my area, or there don't seem to be, so if anyone can recommend someone in the mid/north devon area that would also be helpful. Thanks Rich
16. If it is a scam, then it's pretty low. I have feeling we may never find out.
17. Doddy and Jennifer's contributions have given me hope (ok a bit overstating it but you get the idea ) 1pf is always held up as the correct way to play, and is something I simply cannot do in the lower frets, I am not joking it kills my hand. Brilliant thread.
18.
Whatever happened to Pete Cox?...I hear you say! Word is, he's joined some outrageously talented individuals. The bass player, apparently, is phenomenal... and staggeringly good looking, to boot.
Well Mr Cox is a lucky man, to have the services of such an awesome bass player. You'll have to tell us all who this bass player is.
19. It does seem all rather strange. I had considered making a donation.
20. Welcome
21. Incredibly sad and tragic. My thoughts are with his friends and family.
RIP James Preston. Sorry I couldn't make your life a better place for you in time man.
From reading your post maddude you should, in no way feel sorry. You did what any friend could and much more than others. You should be proud that, unlike some others, you cast aside prejudice, became a true friend and can look back on a time of Jimmy's life you shared and be able to say ' that was good' (especially the Thin Lizzy cover). This may not have made a lot of sense but hopefully you understand what I was trying to get at. Take care Rich
22. Brilliant song, underrated player.
23. I came across this on YouTube a couple of days ago. Lovely clip. I've only recently got into his playing, he makes it look effortless and the bass looks stupendously small.
24. A fellow student of the University of Janner. Were you a member of the muso soc? I still had my t-shirt until last year, got creosote on it so ended up in the bin Welcome.
