1.
music..... good roger..... ok pete (vocal)..... crap all imo
I'll go with that. Seems fair. I enjoyed it. Set was fantastic and good to see a British band at a major US 'cultural' and sporting event. Good on 'em. Just wish Pete had refrained from singing.
 2.
Rule #6 - Return to basschat with fresh context, realising how superbly civilised and level headed it is
OH YES
 3. Rule #4: If you can't do rule 1 or 2 then don't bother with You Tube, thus avoiding Hypercriticals.
 4. I think this thread has been entirely misleading. It would seem to have little to do with Core Tone not being important and more to do with Mr S having a Mazda MX5 that he can't fit an amp or rig into when he goes to gigs. Tut tut. You're game has been sussed mate.
 5. Forgot to add, it's so thin, I still can't believe it's so thin.
 6.
No problem Rick it was good old eBay.. The Samsung GX1L is the same as a Pentax *Isd or something, pretty entry level. Works well though. Was just talking to my best friends granddad who was the photography lecturer at Oxford Brookes for 40 years - he looked at my pics and liked them, and gave me some advice. Really great to have him on hand, and when I come to upgrade my camera he will be pointing me in the right direction! ped
Thanks Ped. My wife has a semi-automatic Pentax P30t. What she wants to do is get a DSLR that will take her existing lenses, as it would be somewhat of a waste not to use them. When I saw you post the Samsung was similar to a Pentax it got my brain thinking. Thanks again, it gives another option.
 7.
I think you might as well get an SLR because you can play with different lenses and that is where things start to get really interesting. How much dosh do you have? I got my camera and two lenses for about £300 ped
May I be incredibly nosey and enquire where you bought them from. I ask because my wife wants to get back into photography and is getting a little put off by the possible cost. Cheers Rich
 8.
At Mrs HT's birthday bash last weekend:
You look like you've been doing that all you're life.
 9. Bought my 300 in August last year and couldn't believe how well thought out the body was. My previous bass was a Hohner B2A that I sold 10 years ago. Everything about it is just so much value for money. If I was to spend money on basses, rather than get a new one I might improve the pick ups but that would be all I would do.
 10. Correct my possible stupidity and naivety, but can what a guitar (or bass for that matter) is finished in ie poly or nitro really make a noticeable difference to its final sound. I understand what MrX was saying about resisting absorption, but I really can't see it making a difference that would be noticeable. I could be wrong.
 11. I know nothing of these 6 stringed squeaky attention seeking devices. To me they are just unnatural. :snob:
 12.
Or can we agree that .......
I can tell you're an optimist
 13. Uncool. Probably best used for fire lightings, it's that fugly.
 14. The requests probably get posted in T&T because it gets a better response than in other sub forums. Post it in some of the others it gets overlooked. Personally I don't have a problem with it, but that's probably because i've posted for tab here
 15.
Ah, thanks for that! Bit nervous about the wire wool bit, but I'll give it a shot with some good quality cleaning cloth.
Very fine wire wool should work well, you don't want the stuff you can strip paint off of metal with. I use it on pieces of furniture I've made it really works the wax into the grain. I prefer it to using a cleaning cloth because you seem to get a better finish. Find an off cut of wood and try it for yourself if you're unsure.
 16.
Study bass is a good site. http://www.studybass.com/
Study bass is the first online resource I found and used when I returned to playing in the middle of last year. I found it really good, not too wordy, loads of examples and exercises. It gave me a good starting point and I started to realise how what I was playing naturally, fitted some theory.
Erm, what about this for heaven's sake? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=74284 Major Minor is the unsung hero of Basschat.
Major Minor's thread a full of detail and a fantastic resource for anyone on the forum. I've dipped in and out several times. I find it good to use several resources as sometimes something that I've found tricky to understand in one has become clear in another. Others on here have also posted short snippets of theory or practice routines that are really good. Just a case of finding them.
 17.
Hey I'll drink to that - another birthday brother - '51 vintage! Cheers, John
Fellow 31st Jan birthday brother. That's the funniest avatar I've seen If this keeps going we'll have to start a new thread, anymore out there? I like the idea of a 31club
 18.
Thank you for the kind words my friend! Hey, you ARE my birthday brother! Cool! Well, happy belated birthday brother! Craig
And belated happy birthday to you. cheers mate
In fact, anything done by anyone born on the 31st of January (any year) is going to be brilliant.
You're not wrong there Mr Tinman, 'tis the only day to be born on.
 19. Heard it this morning, not usually my thing but loved the line and tone.
 20.
I try to keep mine as pristine as possible, my blue Jazz is a 1992 and it hasn't got a mark and I've done 250+ gigs with it.
Well you'd probably 'get the sandpaper out' it if it did get chipped anyway.
 21.
Here is some footage from a three song set I did a few weeks ago. I edited it to 5 minutes and included a bit from each tune I played. It was filmed at the NAMM show this year. It sounds ok considering my tracks and bass were all coming out of an Ampeg mini bass amp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=
Anything done by someone born on 31 January 1973 will doubtless be faultless. Said it before, you're a true talent. Cheers
 22.
I'm with SiBob, the rest of you are all nuts!
Yum
